Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- This is on a ford 9 inch , but can be appled to many different rear ends. Jeeps have the same procedures as well. I cover how to remove a pressed in axle bearing, how to remove a bearing race from an axle tube. how to use a slap slide hammer. how to press in bearings on an axle. CE-8015
Also it is a good idea to put rtv silicone on the outside of the race before you put it in the axle tube!

Thank you..don't forget to subscribe 😉
Thank you for this ,I just took apart the 9 in. I am putting in my 1985 c10. I have never seen this type of 9in. The ones I am used to have a sealed brn and a seal by itself about 1 in to the inside. This is going to help a lot.
Hello Ladies...LOL. Thanks for this video, it's the only one I found dealing with set 20 tapered roller bearings, which my '74 Bronco uses on aftermarket 31 spline axles.
Thanks for watching and commenting..don't forget to subscribe!
I found out what I needed in the 1st 31 seconds. THANKS. Subscribed also.
Thank u..dont forget to check the description for a link to my shirts
Nice job!
I love the fact that they used the GM backing plate setup on the ford rear 👍
Yup..this vehicle is my car
klowny1969 nice setup👍
Klowny, I was born in 1969 too.
Gotta do mine soon. Thank You!
Glad I was able to help! Don't forget to subscribe 😉

Thanks man, just what I was looking for. I assume the disc rear end would be pretty much the same? Cheers
Similar yes! Don't forget to subscribe 😉
You make it look too damn easy Klowny! I wonder why my axle bearing has a rubber o-ring on it? I hope to replace that kind very soon when I pull my full spool out and swap in a trac-lok differential.
Yep..they are all different..thanks for watching and commenting
Hey Klowning. Great video for sure. I have a question. I am using ls1 rear backing plates on a ford 9" with GM housing ends. My axles has set20 bearing as well, so you know the outer seal sticks out (like yours). My question is, what is the torque spec for the retainer plates? I am using the ls1 rear backing plate as a retainer. When I do a good snug down on the retainer bolts (ls1 backing plate), the axles doesn't want to spin easily. When I tightening the bolt down good, the axles doesn't spin at all. I am having trouble finding the balance of tightening the retainer plate bolts to secure the axles and to also have the axle spin without any problems to the bearings. Please help.
Use a little lube, a little butter sauce. Lol. Good video Manny! You always make your vids easy to understand and follow.
Fireship1 the butter sauce is key! ;) Thanks for watching again sir!
great video thank you for sharing my friend 👍

I noticed the 9” in the video was a Currie.
I have an 86 Bronco with factory 9.” Is this process the same for it as well? I have a slight axle bearing leak that needs attention.
Should be similar..yes..also don't forget to put a little review silicone around the outside edge of the seal..
Thanks man! I like the way you explain things. It makes sense when you say it haha
David Roberts thank u sir!
Good video - thanks
Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe and hit that bell
The local shop wants $50 an axle to press on new bearings! For $100 I can get a press from Hf. I see you have the 20 ton but I think a 12 ton should work. Thoughts? And I can use it for future projects.
Absolutely
If only mine came off that easy. Ive hammered and pulled and nothing
Gotta whack it like a man..don't forget to subscribe 😉
Excellent video. Thank you
Thanks and don't forget to subscribe
So basically you press the retaining collar down as far as it will go?
Can't wait for another video!
Saeng M thank u
Last night I put the axle is the chest freezer and heated the bearing to 250F. It slid right on with no press.
Sweet
Slide the shaft into the hole....oh yea baby!!
I love your videos!!!
Davidajr23 YEAH !! LOL
Cool, I have an 84 Z28 I bought new. My old 7 inch Chevy diff sings a little at 45 mph. Wish they had put a stronger unit there.
William Fowler 9 inch is the way to go..thanks for watching
Great Video! Just a question that I am not seeing the answer to in the thread. Is there not a seal for the axles?
hi..yes i showed it in the video..also make sure you put rtv on the outside of the seal..dont forget to subscribe
Is the 9" big ford new style torino ends
You forgot to re-install that ring?
Thanks
Thank you for watching and commenting..don't forget to subscribe
does the bearing share the same fluid as the differential or do these are seals at different where spline meets?
ford 300 inline straight 6 same fluid
please keep making Camaro videos
Will do..thanks for watching
Wait DAD the ice cream truck is here !
YES
So it looks like you replaced the tapered with straight roller, what’s the reason or benefit? I am ready to install a 9 on my truck and the original 9 bearings are tapered but I don’t understand how to set the preload if I replace
this came with the straight rollers
Thanks for the info. it helped me out alot.
Chad Hightower thanks for watching
does the bearings share the same fluid as the differential do those fluids mix down the shaft to the bearings
Another job well done. Haha did you hear the ice cream truck. HAHA
STEVE ROB lol i have to get the ice cream truck driver down to the garage and have a sit down with him ;)
Lol! Crack him good, Klowny...say, one dozen Neapolitan sandwich bars!
Awesome video
Thanks..dont forget to subscribe and hit that bell
Could go diagonal with that cutting wheel.
good job on instructioning. Thanks.
gwkdad thanks for watching and commenting
does the rear different fluid flow to the bearings on each end? or are the seals in the pumpkin that stop the for?
yes and no.
@@50foad years ago i was clueless today ive learned from the past. We are always learning.
Would synthetic grease be better than gear oil?
Yo, would that be the same axel seals for a 1985 s10, you think?
Good job.
Thank you
Is it normal when you assemble a brand new rear together to have little bit of gear oil leak past the seals? I have a curry housing with a 31 spline set up all brand new and I was told to install it with a gallon of gear oil. Sitting on jackstands a little bit of gear oil drips out of the seals. Why is that if everything is new thanks for your help
I've got the same problem neither one of mine will seal.
You have a 2.50 or 2.37 brake offset on those drums?
So there is no c-clip holding the axel to the chunk gear??
Not on a 9 inch ford..dont forget to subscribe and click on the bell
Is the replacement bearing a Timken or a ball bearing? if it is Timken how does it stay together when reinstalling?
It's got a cage that holds the bearing rollers
Where do I get that bearing retainer
Are you still using the stock style suspension? I'm getting ready to build a 9" for my 83 camaro.
SuperShetz09 yes i am..but all spohn tubular
How did you install the bearing race?
It's not in the video?
Ita not in the video?
Hi, I have a 12 ton HF press. Things pressed on a little then locked up. Plenty of lube oil. Think 12 tons is enough? Bending the table. Argh!
DENNIS KOWSKIE sometimes its not
So you put all this in without the seals
Nope..I did put the seals in..don't forget to subscribe
Forgive me for asking. I have a 1971 F100 Ranger RWD. I was able to determine that it is a 9" rear axle. Anyway I showed the previous owner of the truck this video because he also had to replace the seal on the other side but he said it was nothing like what is shown in the video so I am totally confused now and can't find any other YT video's or information like this one. I really want to order the Timken set 20 U399A90012 before I take it apart since it is my daily driver and don't wish to buy parts from a local parts store, I really hate to ask, this kit should work right? thank you for response in advance.
There are small bearing and large bearings on these axles..one thing that u can also do is wipe some grey rtv on the outside part of the axle and the race
Welp I ended up repairing my rear axle. It had an inner seal that went into the axle housing than the bearing and collar went onto the axle shaft. The bearing was CE-8000 or 88128. My first time repairing a rear axle bearing and watching this video gave me great confidence. Rear axle specs: 9" 28 spline WDM-W 3.50 1971 F100 Ranger RWD @@klowny1969
Awesome..glad I was able to help
I gotten as far as taking the axle out. I've found a seal behind all that. I need help
Kenneth Prosser what help do you need? The video covers everything
hi Klowny is there a easy way to change diff fluid in the 9 inch or do I gotta undo the 10 bolts on the diff and pull out. is this hard to do?
ford 300 inline straight 6 u can stick an oil pump/extractor in the fill hole
klowny1969 i like the sounds of that great videos btw
PLEASE HELP. I don't have acces to this middle pin. How i get out the axles??? Mine looks like this images90.fotosik.pl/221/516c932a6d23a96f.jpg should i remove this C clip that is marked red on the picture???
Cool man. Should I drain the 9in box before pulling these out? Or does that matter.
Jamie Burke you dont have to..thanks for watching
Clowny how long you been working on cars
Chad Gardee almost 30 years
When do put back the race?
I showed in the video..you should also put a little rtv on the outside of the race..and u might need a race installer to hammer it in..please check the link in the description for my new tshirt link..thanks
klowny1969 you did not show the race install. Either great vid. Cheers
How long ut take?

ThirdGenDude92 yes..nice car u have..the green one is my car..thank u
Is the penny width critical on new axles and bearings? I pressed mine on until the bearing reached the shoulder. Is this going to be a problem?
DENNIS KOWSKIE prob not.
But its a good idea to go all the way
My old and new collars measure the same.I put the end of the new shaft next to the collar of the old shaft. The new axle should go in about an 1/8 inch deeper. On the old shaft it looks like the penny depth that you showed. I don't know how many miles those bearings have on them, but they can slide back and forth between the shoulder and the collar.Do you understand what all I am saying here?
DENNIS KOWSKIE why cant u press it more in?
The penny width is a 1/4 inch.I can't press on any more. Things would crush. I think you may be thinking I am not on far enough. I actually went on too far.
Pennywise? Is that you?
yesir!
how in the name of God you guys wear gloves doing mechanic work is beyond me
I just got a comment in another video ,and the guy was scolding me for not wearing gloves..LOL
aye bro u got a email address or fb i can hyu on
Klown1969 on facebook
Klowny1969 ..sorry misspelled
Did you not put the new race in the rear??
The race in on the new bearing in the kit.
He is seating it with the hammer in the video.
what if you use a hot chisel
You removed the race with the puller but didn’t see a new one installed.
Zefside82 new one just popped in..sometimes u need a race driver. .not in this case
race was on the new bearing and
was already packed with grease
