This looks nothing short of phenomenal. They really went above and beyond to make this an authentic-feeling remake of the latter three NES games in the style of Wily Wars. The background art is beautiful too.
Y'know, I've heard more than a few times that "You can't get that kind of sound out of a Genesis in a REAL game." This homebrew's music pretty much proves that completely wrong. Apparently the game is coded in C rather than ASM, too. Runs pretty smooth.
The new set pieces, transitions and sprite enhancements with the graphics are nothing short of spectacular! Also whoever produced these Genesis tracks which seems to include elements of trance, electro, rock, blues, marching band, 90's rap and classic chiptune style is top tier. Acoustically it's like tasting the first spoonful of rainbow colored sherbet after a hot summer's day! 😎 Side note: I wish more commercial developers like Capcom, Nintendo, Konami and others would follow in the indie scene and M2's footsteps to start creating brand new games for the actual hardware instead of mock-ups for modern platforms or consoles.

Damn, this is beautiful work. Not sure how I feel about the double-jump shenanigans but the music is incredible and the added layers of backgrounds / set-pieces are all stunning.
If you don't know, The Sequel Wars has an option to enable the full arsenal of 4,5 and 6. Including the armors so you can try them in Mega Man 4 for the moment
I remember playing wily wars on sega channel as a kid and always wanted 4,5 and 6 to have that treatment too. I can't put into words how happy this makes me and how impressed I am with it.
I always wanted the Sega Channel back in the day but we didn't have the service down here in the south. Always wanted to buy a couple Sega Channel modems just to see what games were downloaded to them.

I knew the ROM files weren't very large, compared to say a floppy disk, so I thought there'd be no limit on what games would be downloadable. It was definitely ahead of its time. Luckily, I was able to use the Sega Netlink and eventually the Dreamcast modem but it wasn't the same.
That is such immaculate attention to detail! In many ways, this stomps the original Wily Wars-I’m even beginning to question why the original wasn’t like this if Capcom actually cared for the Genesis’ hardware at all...

Am I the only one who thinks Capcom should just start sourcing these games out to and paying professional fans? They could give us what we want (8-bit retro aesthetics, the only medium he was ever truly successful in; if it’s not broke don’t fix it; I adored MM 11 but think we’d all be happy to just keep him in his 8-bit glory) and pay these fans well enough to get games made quickly but still a fraction of their usual costs. It would help breathe new life into something without changing the fundamental things we all love about the franchise. Thought they had glommed onto as much since both 9&10 were done 8-bit style but then 11 changed it. Regardless it is so sad that Capcom have clearly just given up on him. This whole “We’re taking our time to do it right for the next installment” is ridiculous. People would have lived for 11 had it not been so short or had some form of additional content/dlc. Hell, they could have just kept releasing batches of DLC with four new robot masters using the same programs they developed 11 with and it hardly would have cost them a thing.
It's cool to see Capcom and Sega fangames and both companies werent being dick about it unlike Nintendo. although Capcom doesn't really give a shit either...
With so much potential in the homebrew video game making scene, its a shame that big videogame companies dont hire these guys to work on retro content and modern gaming. I mean, the amount of talent out there is being ignored.
This is amazing I just recently played the nes version of mm4 and this is a great improvement to the 16-bit genesis watching the video felt like this is all I ever played hope to see 5 and 6 get finished
Just ordered it! Can’t wait! I got wily wars and always wanted capcom to have done MM4,5 &6! Fans are really bringing it! Another thing I used to always want to see is a MM7 and PlayStations MM8 as a 8bit NES game! I’ve seen people post here on UA-cam some gameplay and 16 bit music soundtrack of 7&8 but after capcom releasing MM9 &10 and fans having done the sequel wars…there’s a chance fans will make the idea of MM7 and 8 as an 8bit playable game! A physical copy with box art manual and all would be even better!
I always loved the music in the Cossack levels, I might be over thing this, But the tone of the two songs seem to reflect what Cossack is feeling, The first two stages have a melody of confidence and calm. As if Cossack himself feels that this is the moment he will defeat megaman to save his daughter, And during the next two levels it has a more dire and desperate tone to it. As if Cossack is feeling more desperate to beat megaman as his daughter is in jeopardy and he is doing everything in his power to stop you. All while thinking about his daughter and the ultimate fear of any parent of failing your child’s when they need you the most

There has been a few UA-camrs that have did play throughs of this hacked game & pretty sure this has to be the 3rd UA-camr that has done a play through of this game.
INCREDIBLE stuff. It looks amazing but ONE issue. The sound font dulls all the high notes in the music. Noticed it immediately from the title screen. Granted I'm only nitpicking because this is my most played Mega Man game and I love the music.
It's not a sound font. The Genesis uses an FM synth chip, and it tends to be a little harsh and tinny on the high end. The composer is using a lot of bass and midrange noises on the FM, and mostly leaving the high end open for the PSG (square waves) and the high harmonics on the FM instruments. It's actually a really clever way to get really good sounding tracks on the Sega Genesis, especially with the clever use of panning. Treasure's composer (Norio Hanzawa, one of the best to compose for anything on the Genesis) also did this, though he wasn't afraid of making some really harsh sounds too.
MegaMan had double jump in Complete Works disc series for PlayStation which are NES games ported to the Sony console. These abilities were like X6 system.
From the Wily Castle Bosses, I couldn’t have known that they used the wily golem as the boss music from world 4 as the level choice in music. This gives us a foreshadowing to the part that they would make the prequel wars of Worlds 1,2,3,4, and 5? 🤔 💭
It’s confusing cause it looks like one would expect the sequel would be MM 4, 5 & 6 to coincide with wily wars 1,2 & 3. But many sites talking and selling the sequel wars state “episode red” is only MM4. I assume episode blue and whatever color is next would be MM5 & 6. Anyone one k ow the reason? Was it just a long project doing 4 and they rather release this one while they work on 5 and 6? Or do all 3 games not fit so they decided to release separately? It’s more confusing since the back of cartridge does not detail this but mention MM4 and the artwork shows robot masters from 4-6 🤦🏼♂️

Just saw the first stage and it looks really well done but it looks way to easy with double jump and air dash and the boss pattern with no challenge. Im all for more megaman but hope this provides a decent challenge even the stage length is short with no difficulty

You can turn off double jump, air dash, and all the extra options that make the game easier
