I think this was a perfect first BTS Song for us to React to.
We have reacted to Blackpink and Stray Kids, and most people told us we HAD to REACT TO BTS next.

Some info on BTS if you're interested. BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) stands for bulletproof boy scouts in korean and is made up of 7 members (3 rappers and 4 vocalists) and they debuted in 2013. Their names are Jin age 27 vocalist, Suga age 27 rapper, J-Hope age 26 rapper, RM age 25 rapper, Jimin age 24 vocalist, V age 24 vocalist, and Jungkook age 22 vocalist. Although they are considered k-pop (korean pop) their music has all genres hip hop, rnb, edm, and pop. They have over 200 songs and do solo songs, solo mixtapes, and subunit songs. Unlike other groups from the past they all have their chance to shine and are all vital to the success of the group. They practiced for 12-16 hours a day for years before they started having success in south korea. To date they are highest selling kpop artists in south korea with over 21 million albums sold in south korea alone. In addition they have had 4 number 1 albums on the billboard 200 charts in the United States 3 of which happened in less than a year. Their story is so inspirational and I just love their music and the kind of people they are. A lot of western media don't report on them or don't take them seriously because people consider them a "boy band" even though they are very involved in the creative process and help write and produce their music. They also don't get radio play because their songs are not in english. They've had to overcome a lot to get where they are and it's amazing how a lot of people still don't know who they are or have never heard of them even though they break records constantly. Their live performances are incredible and their songs speak on issues such as mental health, self love, and societal expectations. Also their fanbase known as ARMY are very diverse with people of all ages, nationaliites, races, and genders. I would recommend if you're going to keep reacting to them to get them a little more personally. 2 videos I recommend are who is BTS the 7 members of Bangtan by sugar and spice. It's a little outdated but a decent introductory to each member. And BTS Nobodies to Legends 2019 by xceleste. This video is a short overview of some of their hardships and achievements over the years. Thanks for reacting and BTS are releasing a new song and music video called Dynamite on August 21st and it apparently is going to be all in english. I hope you check it out.

just a little fun fact: this song was inspired by obamas speech at the correspondents dinner, if you want more songs like this I recommend the cypher series, ddaeng, baepsae, and ugh. For songs of a different vibe i'd recommend black swan, blood sweat & tears, magic shop (there's no mv so you would have to watch a live performance), and stay gold. They're also releasing an ENGLISH single called dynamite the 21st so keep your eyes our for that too.

If they keep having songs like the old days, they wouldn’t be where they are today. All their songs still sound catchy with deep meanings, old or new. I was opposite of you since I wasn’t into their debuted musics at first.

Like 'Black swan' tell us about their love for music, 'ON' is about how they keep going, 'Boy with luv' is about how they realize they have to love themselves first in order to love someone else and even so all their songs have such a deep but beautiful meanings. So i wouldn't say that their old songs are better than the new ones cause that's why music keeps growing with the years because everything changes and that's why BTS keeps growing and growing.
If nobody has answered yet BTS is an acronym for BangTan Sonyeondan. BangTan means boy scouts and Sonyeondan means bulletproof. So BTS are Bulletproof Boy Scouts.

I see a lot of people already told you how diverse their discography is, but just so you know Steve Aoki only remixed this song, the song was produced by BTS and a couple of their producers. The original song is mostly Korean, while they rewrote a lot of the lyrics in English for this remix ^^

BTS originally released Mic Drop in Korean. RM, the group's leader who sang the 'haters gonna hate' part, got the idea of writing this song from watching Barack Obama's mic drop speech. 😂 This one is another version that Steve Aoki worked on.
This song sealed the deal for me to be an ARMY. I wonder if you have the subtitles on while watching this. 🤔 Because this is a diss track. BTS is the only artist that can sing this and make us proud because of their history from nobody to kings. This is in line with Ddaeng and their Cypher series.

If you want to learn about why they have a big fanbase outside of the music, you need to watch their carpool karaoke because you will see how funny and likeable they are and their dynamic with each other. The carpool karaoke brought in a load of new fans. I would really recommend it!

BTS is probably one of the most diverse / versatile groups out there. You will get rap/hip hop, dark, R&B, POP , ballads etc. in their whole discography, and their discography is HUGE !!! I recommend Blood sweat and tears, fake love, Not today, fire, ON kinetic manifesto film. Black swan is also a must! Great reaction!
I wouldn’t necessarily call BTS the “Kings of Kpop” is more like the KINGS OVERALL because they have broken so many barriers here in the states and have made kpop a worldwide industry personally for me this the epitome of Innovators and path makers.

Do some research ......like two consecutive night concerts( 24 thousand attended ) at Honda Center, Anaheim, California........then another two nights ( 24k attendance) a week later in Prudential Center , Newark , New Jersey......again where was BTS , learning how to synchronize I suppose. Wake up from the delusion.....Kpop was already known by the US ....BillBoard even created their column KTown to honor BBang and the growing audience. KCon again created to promote Kpop in the US , created and was growing long before BTS participated. But delusional immatures think BTS had no help, and did it all alone.....lol fantasy. @@bblack6868 So are you saying that their most successful tour in North America was in 2012? with 4 shows in arenas? but wait, they went to the military service in 2017, so if they haven't gone they would be more successful than BTS RIGHT NOW for sure... one thing is to try to break into a market, and not achieve it (big bang case) and another very different is to break into that market, break all the stereotypes when it comes to kpop, and ensure that many other groups also have the opportunity to promote there as well (BTS case). The fact that their most successful North American tour was five years prior to enlisting should be proof enough for you that they tried but failed.

I 'discovered' them six months ago. These guys are so talented, it's not fair. They have music ranging from hard rap ("Ugh!"); R&B ("Singularity"); pop ("Boy With Luv"); ballads ("Truth Untold") - they really aren't K-pop, they're more their own thing. You may want to watch their UA-cam dance practice videos too, to really see how they're not just vocal talents but also absolutely kill with moves. Mic Drop has a dance practice video, though the song version used in it is the original version, not Aioki's remix. That would also allow you to compare the two versions. The remix has way more English because it was made to help build up their Western audience (which in a way sucks because although I want everyone to love BTS, now I have more competition for concert tickets LOL).

This 57 year old woman well 56 at the time, traveled from Atlanta to Chicago last year to see them live. It was awesome. They were the first Korean artist to play Wembley, sold out, 2 nights. I don't think there's a single song of theirs that they haven't either composed written or produced or had some hand in. They are not K-pop in my opinion. I just wish they'd get more radio play in the US I'm not a big fan of our music anymore.

BTS’s discography is very diverse. They are seven members so they obviously each bring something unique to the table which adds to their eclectic musical style. This is what is cool about them they don’t shy away from changing their styles unlike other artists who stay in a certain box!

BTS are hip hop based but their music covers different genres. Basically, they have songs for whatever your mood is. And besides group songs, they all have solo songs and each rapper has their own mixtapes. Their live performances are really good too.

There music is extremely diverse - everything from straight hip hop, to R&B, to ballads. There is no categorising them. You should react to the Cypher series if you want some hip hop, House of Cards is very R&B vibe and maybe something like truth untold for a ripper ballad.
BTS stands for Bagtansonyeondan - Korean translation is Bulletproof Boy Scouts, English is now beyond the scene. They have been around since 2013.
The original Korean version of this song is basically the same - Steve just dropped a bit of a beat and the guys added some of the lyrics in English.
Mic Drop is actually BtS original , a lttle upbeat just added by Steve Aoki to this remix and this remix was a 90 percent english lyrics... BTS do different genres of songs , as in different kinds but consistent in amazing , relatable, motivational lyrics, with magical melodies and beats and amazing and artistic music videos and lit and dope live performances... 💜

*Bts Is south Korean group, this days people prefer don't mix them with kpop. Kpop is just a label to say that everything that comes out of Korea is that (false) bts is not considered kpop because of its great repertoire of genres and that it does not follow the same line of the kpop industry.
1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers
2. Bts compose and produce their own music, so is very personal, they talk about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc
3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) used to read a several books and study set, philosophy, psychology and mythology to understand. Their last album for example was "map of the soul: 7" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Murray.
4. The army love them because they are good people who through a lot of bad things to be where they are now, and even being famous they stay humble.
5. They have a lot of genres but their base is very hiphop / rap. Also you can find subtitles in every possible language thanks to the fans, u only need to search with the name of the song.
**Bts always present themselves as a Korean group, and always said they don't want to be labeled in a genre or industry. The fans also do not want to be mixed with kpopers, (most of us aren't kpop fans) we don't have the same ideals

Not to be confused. They are heavily involved in their songs. Check the song credits. I believe they mean that this new album is all them, no in house producers.
Update: no in house producers, art managers, dance managers etc. Basically they are directing everything and managing everything themselves. I guess the only thing they are using at BigHit are the studio rooms. All the members have gone live on YT to talk about their process. I expect them to use the staff, but they are completely in charge in this project.

It's a multi-pronged attack, there have been many groups making inroads, and breaking a wide range of records, but between them BTS and Blackpink are really wakening the west to K-Pop.
Personally, I like Blackpink a lot more, but these young men are very, Very good, but the voices don't quite do it for me - that there are these, and other, groups around is a win-win. If any brings attention to the others it's 😎
@@gordowg1wg145 as for me BTS vocal color are so unique and diff from other kpop group where most of these groups have similar vocal range and ofcoure it's hard to mach their rap line when it comes to music and lyrics since they are one of the very few Korean groups who heavily involved in writing and producing their stuff but what makes them diff for me it's their writing skills esp in their b-side tracks and solo albums , i still listen to a lot of korean artist (not kpop) but and a very few songs form diff kpop groups but BTS got me listen to their whole discography everyday non stop it's just their music hit diff for me since they are album-oriented group rather than singles or title-tracks group

That's just my point, different people have different tastes - doesn't make one better or worse, just not what one especially likes.
I like the BTS style and 'flow' for the most part, but the vocals didn't quite do it for me - I'd still watch them, though, as they are freaking good dancers - and there are many K-Pop groups you can say that about! They, BTS, could certainly have something that nails the sound for me, but I just haven't come across it yet.
Same with every other genre - there are going to be performers you really like in each, and some that don't have that appeal for you - yet for other people it may be their favourite.
It's all 👍 - except for mumble rappers and other 'popular' crap that couldn't hold a tune with both hands.

Like others have said here, BTS started out as more hip hop. Then they slowly experiment and try out different things as the years go by (along with hip hop), which makes them a versatile group. Also, if you click CC on their music videos, you can see their lyrics. Their lyrics are not to miss as they write their own lyrics as well. Lol If you want to know more about BTS, I suggest watching "Who is BTS: The Seven members of Bangtan." But it's up to you guys. Anyway, love the video! Keep it up.

I was pulled into the world of BTS after watching BTS on Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, their personalities & charisma 👌👌👌 sparked interest. AND THEN, in the same week they were on Jimmy Fallon performing their song ON, Live at Grand Central Station....that performance right there blew me away. BTS is nothing like your regular 'boyband' there's so many different genres and styles of songs that you'll never know what to except. And they're very VERY different from Blackpink because Blackpink's style is very predictable nothing new anymore. When Blackpink has a comeback you know basically what it's gonna sound like(not hating on the girls here because it's actually the Company's fault in the first place). With BTS you absolutely can't guess how it's going to be like. They always switch it up a bit so it wouldn't get boring. And there's a new full English Single coming out August 21st called "Dynamite" we suspect it might be very retro style like 90's or something like that. Also each and Every BTS Music Video has English Captions.

The funny thing is YG has had two hugely popular groups that got there by different paths.
1. Big Bang which suffered early because the boys wanted to create their own material and ultimately rose to the top of 2nd generation K Pop largely based on their creativity
2. Black Pink which was gold spooned from the get, to date members not creating any of Black Pink's material and succeeding as high profile show performers doing a directed series of "presentations" for YG which could sell largely to Western markets unfamiliar with the large base of talented female groups Korean's tend to respect more. Not saying there is not some good stuff. There is. But the similar sound is unquestionably corporate Pablum. Corporations tend not to alter what is working.

The original Mic Drop was a lot grungier and old-school hip hop. I personally liked it just as much, if not more. And BTS isn't just "kpop" They do some pop, but the majority of their discography is more hip hop influenced. You'll likely enjoy Daechwita, Agust D, Moonchild, Do You, and Daydream and Airplane. As well as some other songs that don't have music videos, UGH!, Ddaeng, Outro: Tear and Outro: Her, Black Swan and ON: Kinetic Manifesto Film.

What really sets BTS apart though is that since even BEFORE they debuted, they have been writing and producing their own music. Their 3 most prolific writers, RM, Suga and JHope are all full members of the Korean Music Copyright association, which only promotes 25 members a year based on their contributions.
Many kpop band do pop and hip-hop. Kpop is not just music genre. It is multiple contents like performance, songs, makeup, dress etc like Suga said before in interview.

Just for your knowledge, we do not really categorize BTS as Kpop. BTS is a genre of their own as they do so many music genres with their music and they are completely different from the other normal Kpop groups that we see (especially from the Big 3 Entertainment Agencies).
All their songs have meanings behind their lyrics. So if you react to their MVs or songs make sure to read the lyrics and on the CCs! BTS songs are mostly composed and written by themselves with some help from their own company’s in-house producers (Supreme Boi, Pdogg, Slow Rabbit, His Noisse, ‘Hitman Bang’ (Bang PD)-CEO of the company and a few more others). They usually write songs that speaks about mental health, society & social issues, speaking up for the youths and self-love. Fans like myself love them for their lyrics.💜

We love BTS because they were a group of boys from a small company, half of them were originally poor and they suffered a lot and everyone was laughing at them and belittling them and they worked hard until they got to where they are now. They lived and trained in a small room and didn't have enough money to eat. Jungkook is the youngest one in the group. When he was in the group he was still very young and he was still in school and when they finish training they take him to the school. They really suffered. I cannot write everything about them. They fought to get to where they are today, and the army was with them from the beginning, and we all suffered. And a lot of their songs are thanks to the army and how we stood with them and brought them to the world. react to BTS from zero to hero

Hoan I don't know how to put in words ... BTS r the best there was, there is and there will be... Their lyrics changed my life... I am from Tanzania-Africa... In my country they don't know BTS ... Whenever I ask around they don't know them. I wish I could shout to my whole country so they who's BTS.... I get so angry I feel like I don't belong in this country with these people around me!!!
