Fun Fact: This MV was created after BTS was accused of being copycats for previously using a school boy concept... so BH gave each of the boys their own hardworking concept as they talk about how dope their hardwork and individualism is...talk about clapping back at haters!
Now they are being accused for plagiarism for “Ddaeng”.

I saw this song when it was first released and I liked it but I'm so sad that I didn't look into BTS further back then 😭 But, there is a saying among Armys that you find BTS when you need them the most and that was true for me. I've been an Army for almost a year now and they have changed my life for the better 💜
You are right .....I also had heard name of jungkook and BTS in 2014 from my classmate a lot but didn't searched more about them .... but now I am an army for almost an year.... I really got them when i needed an escape from my life.... when i felt alone....I 💜 BTS
Dope has great hidden meanings the line where Jimin says "I worked all night, every day, while you were playing at the club", this referring to how much BTS had to work and strain to get where they are. Ending the chorus, RM's rap mentions the "Sampo", "Ohpo" and "Yookpo" generations. In Korean, "sam", "oh" and "yook" are the numbers three, five and six. By this, RM refers to a popular expression that mentions what people must give up in the face of financial difficulties and social problems. The "sampo generation" are those who gave up having romantic relationships, marriage and children; the younger generation "ohpo" is unable to achieve the above three, in addition to not finding a suitable job or owning their own homes. And the younger generation "yookpo" encompasses the forgetting of all these previous desires, including abandonment of general relationships and social life "Why do they kill us before we can try?" asks RM, referring to all those people who complain to millennials (or millennials, the term in English) for supposedly not working and / or trying hard enough. "They say we don't have willpower and they look at us as if we were investments," RM continues, addressing the media and adults who denigrate the younger generation in music; meanwhile, Suga declares them the "enemy". I think you guys are spending way too much time together. Ron is breaking out with the random dance moves more and more it seems 🤣. DOPE has a very deep socio-political class unfairness reference and can be seen as a diss directed towards the media and boomers. RM and Suga’s btb verses in the middle of the song encompasses this. This song brings up that the playing field and economy is unfair for younger generation and how boomers were the ones that screwed up the economy for younger generations, but that grown-ups and media blame the younger generation for being lazy and lacking willpower and writes them off. But BTS is saying they don’t agree with the media and older generation and BTS is telling the youth not to listen to what the media tells them. BTS is telling the youth that they believe in the value of who they are and who they want to become and their efforts are worth something. BTS’ perceived cockiness of being “dope” is actually one of solidarity with the youth.

She explains the extensive wordplay and also the "Giving Up" generations that RM is rapping about - Korean names for Gen Y, Millennials, Z. They had to give up on their dreams because of low wages, debt, etc.

I think it's a bit early because they still have tons of songs that they don't know, so when they react to members solos I think we can ask them then.. That's my opinion 😅💜
This song actually has a deep meaning. In this song, RM refers to the “Sampo”, “Ohpo”, and the “Yookpo” generations. This was my intro to BTS as well!! Still hits hard to this day and still a banger and a half!! I count this as one of the top songs new ARMYs should listen to early on, but that is just my feelings on it.

Hobi is a racer, Jimin is an office worker, Jungkook is a police officer, Jin is a doctor, Tae is a detective or private eye. I'm pretty sure Namjoon is a security guard. I've said this many times and I'll forever say it. DOPE is one of the CLEANEST, SMOOTHEST, ENERGY-FILLED, mv from BTS I've EVER WATCHED in my 5 years of Army life! There was no one person outshining the other as it relates to choreography. EVERYONE was one-point. EVERYONE gave it their all. EVERYONE was in sync with the music. There are many many bts songs out there their stuff goes on for ages. Not everything has a music video or performance btw they have a lot of songs that haven't been performed or made into a mv
And they are all great 😭 too bad we can't have an MV for all of it..but the live performances are legendary...some also doesn't have either an mv or live but just the studio track like "Paradise" but this song is really close to my heart...
