@joe dirtbag It's not that, he still puts a lot of effort into them. He just focuses much more on ongoing series nowadays than back then, where he would pretty much just do AVGN, random videos, and Monster Madness for part of the year.
The C in TCRI stands for "cosmic", and is a hint to the company being run by aliens. Since the movie did away with the alien subplot, they changed Cosmic to "Global", hence TGRI.
That's a really interesting fun fact, what's funny is how originally the ending of secret of the ooze would show the scientist is actually an utron, so I wonder if they had changed it since they already went with making it global instead
Shredder burning down April's place and the turtles leaving New York with her and going out to the woods is what immediately follows this story, which does lead to them returning to NY eventually (after a bunch of side stories).
The micro series dedicates one issue to each turtle and in Raphael's issue they show how he met Casey jones (Which is basically the same as in the movie) and that's why he comes to their rescue in the antique store.
@@elijahfordsidioticvarietys8770 That's because each Turtle got his own "series." Raphael #1, Michaelangelo #1, Donatello #1, and Leonardo #1. All of these were one issue and they all took place in between issues of the main series. I don't know why James' books have Leonardo #1 but not the others, especially since they introduce each of the turtles' individual personalities. If you were wondering when they take place chronologically here you go: Raphael #1 takes place in between issues 3 and 4 of the main series; Michaelangelo #1 takes place in between issues 7 and 8; Donatello #1 takes place in between issues 8 and 9; James already said in the video that Leonardo #1 takes place before issue 10. Interestingly, the Fugitoid has his own "one issue micro series" that shows his backstory from his perspective rather than as exposition; it takes place in between issues 4 and 5 of the main series.

While its not included in the compilation, there is a “return to New York” story arc where the turtles beat Shredder once and for all. Its a shame it was included in the compilations because it does wrap up the story in a satisfying way.
It’s a bit pricey, but I remember IDW put out “The Ultimate Collection” of the original Mirage Studio Turtles, and the stories are printed in chronological order, with written commentaries by the creators on each issue.
The next three in the actual series are the "Return to New York" story line. IMO, the best story line from the original series. You owe it to yourself to continue the series.
