Thanks! I try to make videos I would watch also. Just a note: Some oils already come with the additive. If thats the case, no need to spend the extra money 👍
@@cjlectronics honestly, I’ve seen it but never used it but I’m sure it will probably work. Just make sure it isn’t damaged at all before you put it on. It if you test it let me know how it goes would love to know👍 also thank you for watching! Working on some more golf cart content in near future.
I have a 1997 EZGO golf cart that is electric I want to add new fluid to the rear end but I only have one drain plug at the bottom of the pan and I do not have a vent pipe just on top of the axle to add extra fluid to make sure it's full how is there another way that I can make sure that it's full of fluid other than just the drain plug at the bottom on the pan???
@@calebblair8003 Hey Caleb thanks for watching! The older ez go axles dont have the vent as you mentioned. You’ll have to take one of the wheels off and the hub from the axle. Either side works. Just use like 3/4’s of the container and you should be good to go. Its not really like a regular vehicle so even with the vent technically you cant check how much is in there. You just have to go with how much is left in the fluid bottle honestly. I don’t really think there is any harm in using the whole bottle as the excess will just go into the axle areas and the seals that are on each end will stop it. My axle video shows you how to remove everything for the oil change technically also. It’s shouldn’t be to difficult. Let me know how it does! If you have any other questions let me know and I’ll try and help best i can 🤙
Yeah, it should. That is similar to the posi-tac additive I am using in the video. If you are hearing grinding noises, though, you may need to pull apart the diff, check the teeth on the gears, and inspect the bearings.
You’ll be good! The manuals also don’t usually call for the slip gear additive either but i’ve read and have seen most guys use it to improve the oil and prevent gear slippage. 👍
So im trying to fix a whirring noise. Almost sounds like a jet engine. If I keep my foot on the accelerator, its fine. Its only when I let off the accelerator that it starts the high pitch whirring or whining sound. Ive seen EZGO recommend replacing the fluids foe thebgears and bearings to fix this issue. Do you know if this is what they are referencing, or is there another fluid that I need to be looking at? Thanks in advance!
This is what they are recommending for sure. Like i mention in the video make sure if the fluid you buy doesn’t have anti-slip fluid you add about 2ozs in there! Let me know how it goes. If its not the fluid you may need some new bearings in the differential casing.
@@JustinDoesWhat Yea that's what I was also going to check when opening it all up. The cart itself runs great. It's just that whirring noise when letting off the accelerator. Appreciate the response. Ill probably just get the three things you have listed and go from there!
@@sghksfhk Awesome! If you have any issues let me know and ill try and help 🤙you need a good pair of Retaining Ring pliers (or known as snap ring pliers) for the bearings. I recommend watching the input shaft video i did also cause it will give you most of what you need to know. 🤙
@@JustinDoesWhat One last question before I dive in. To replace the differential bearing, will the entire housing need to be removed from the cart to disassemble, or can the bearing be replaced while it's still in place?
@@sghksfhk you can do it all while the transaxle is still on the cart its definitely easier off the cart but if your not comfortable removing it its definitely possible to leave it on. Make sure if you are doing it on the ground to put some jack-stands under the center/sides of the frame as a Golf cart is definitely less stable jacked up then a car ect. Hey Ron! There is no way to check unfortunately but it is t to hard to do oil change honestly and if its never been done its definitely worth it. Is it like a high pitch whine or more like a grinding type sound?
@@ronfarrugia145 yea i would try and change out the fluid for sure and see if it helps as it’s the cheapest thing to start with. If that doesn’t help it could be one of the bearings. If you can jack the back of the cart up and get someone to lightly press the throttle and see if is for sure coming from the differential area and not the wheel area. If it is from the wheel area you may just need bearings that are on end of the axles right near the wheels which is a part of the axle video i did. Let me know how it goes! My kinda video no BS and straight to the point/job. Thanks just need to see how much oil to put in and didnt know it needed the friction additive.

I second that!!! Great video and I'll say it's the best one on this subject by far.

Can you just add the fluid through the vent?
Sure! Just afterwards make sure you push down on the valve cap to release any air you may have pumped in just in case 👍Also, thanks for watching 🙌
I bought Valvoline Advanced Gear Oil synthetic 75W-90 It has Limited Slip in it. Would this be ok to use on its own without adding anything?
That will work. You don't need to add additives as it is already included in that one.
One cool thing about this oil is the packaging is in a bag like pouch. So you don't need a pump to fill , just squeeze it and it pours out the spout.
