Hi! I had noticed your video and I believe you've made some very solid points about this, I personally believed you could've added that E2's have been done to heck and back, and that there are a lot more classes of tank engines that could be modeled, aside from that though, your points are very valid! With that though, I was wondering if you could help give suggestions for a channel mascot of mine. As of currently, I'm trying to make an OC that can fit within a realistic setting to be, as I said before, my channel mascot. I thought of two ideas I could have it be and I wanted to hear your thoughts and suggestions as I can't pick one myself. Thought 1, an idea I had was that my OC could've been one of the electric engines working on the Peel Godred branch, as I don't think I see many electric engine OC's, and the peel godred engines don't get a lot of love. My idea for the character was that he'd be an NER EB1 class, which according to the wiki was short for 'Electric Banker 1.' After I heard this, I thought maybe he could be the banker for the other engines at Killdane, but longs to be able to pull trains himself rather than having to help other engines every now and then. Personality wise, I envision him to be a laid-back, sarcastic type of guy, kinda like Jax from TADC, mainly because I don't want him to be a goodie two shows like a lot of other OC's. My only concern with this is that he'd be a lot older being built before 1923, and I'm not 100% sure how I'd write his redemption story to make him nicer without making him a goodie two shoes. Thought 2, I also thought he could possibly be a more modern locomotive, like the BR class 66, one to reflect how young both me and him are, and because I envision the NWR would need a couple of modern locomotives to take goods to and from BR, since with the NWR's fleet being mostly older diesels and steam engines, they likely wouldn't be allowed to run on the mainline, unless they had special permission like Flying Soctsman, but we're trying to think realistically here! Personality still stays the same as the EB1 one, but with the class 66 version is that he'd gain more of his personality from his other brother being a rough smoker, and being a more 'from-the-streets' kind of guy. *Apologies if this comes off as anything rude or mean, like I said before I really can't decide between these two Thank you very much for reading! And I'm very curious in seeing what you thought of these two ideas
Ayy cheers! :D Would've made that E2 jab but it's pretty common knowledge and that'll be beating a dead horse haha. With your Dilemma, I personally can't force your hand with option A or B as they're your concepts. Personally I'd flow more with the Class 66 design, as I haven't seen many, if any being made into OCs, and it'll have a more realistic redemption arc as the modern day can be summed up as "forgiving and forgetting" & changing the way people think and act. I'm not going to explain a "do or don't" example for making your OC's characteristic as I've got one that's took elements of Jax too lol. Only thing I'd suggest is making sure the livery isn't a generic NWR livery, could be unique to say he's owned by a private company & hangs around the NWR for work and contracts. I don't really know how electric engines operate but if an entire island housing extinct steam and diesels can exist, anything can haha!! -Rhy

My favourite fan story is Penn Central 4853 and the British axle load limit (and also the lack of 11KV 25Hz AC overhead electricity) :D
I'm hurting you when I get up to wales
