As others have pointed out, this is a unique take on Sound of Silence. The original has a melancholy feel to it, a sense of loss and bleakness. The Disturbed cover communicates a person dealing with their inner demons and the demons of society at large. Malinda's cover, this is the first time I've felt hope from this song. It has the sense that the silence is beautiful and good, that the vision will germinate to become something more, that there is something new and alive bursting forth in this person's life and eventually in the lives of others.
There have been many awesome versions, the original Simon & Garfunkel, Disturbed version will give you the chills ( in a good way ), this young ladies version ( Malinda ) a nice warm feeling. I’m sure there are other versions that are good.
As someone who studied music for 20 years and has listened to dozens of world-class vocalists, I have to say that you have one of the most purely angelic voices I've ever heard. You have exceptional vibrato control and your timbre is enthralling. You use melisma tastefully. You have phenomenal dynamic control of your voice and you're able to mix effortlessly. You make sure every passage is moving toward your intended direction through proper spin. Really, really excellent.
This is the hardest song to cover. Every phrase is studied and the tone precise. There are many many horrible to average covers but her voice resonates and the song soars.
Once in a while throughout history, a person is born of real beauty in all its manifestations. Keep thumping your fist and chant your beautiful voice so the whole world can hear you.

Disturbed is by far the best version of Sound of Silence for a male. THIS is absolutely the best for a female. It is now my favorite and sends goose bumps. Can't get enough of this voice...angelic. Thank you.
😂You can't be serious... Disturbed sounds like a drowning robot that's trying WAY too hard to sing in a lower key. He sounds absolutely awful. No talent at all.
Her voice is beautiful, I love the song. Disturbed's version seem to bring out the stupidity of the people making and worshiping a neon god they made. The build up was extremely well done. Someone said Disturbed sung the song the way a male should sing it and Matilda sung it the way a woman should. One song sung for 2 completely different moods....priceless.a

I discover you and I am under the spell. How difficult it must be to make a personal version of such a classic, performed millions of times all over the planet for 50 years. And on the other hand that's exactly why we get to hear her doing all this stuff and not something some label thinks she should do. Bittersweet is the right word I guess?
given her views on YT alone I wouldn't worry for her financially, its not 'millions of dollars'... but its certainly a living. The fact she is expanding her business should tell you all you need to know, I see a clever woman with a good business sense and a very bright future indeed!
Your voice is enchanting! My mom just passed away last Sat, and it seems all songs somehow some way reminds me of my mom. I can almost hear my mom singing along, while smiling. She had a good singing voice, but hers was much deeper. She too sang this song, but on karaoke. She killed it every time! Thank you for helping me remember those fond moment's.
You touch my soul like Van Morrison, Bob Seger, and Joe Cocker. I listen to you sing, and my soul unlocks and opens up. It's like taking a deep breath after feeling like you were going to drown. Thank you so much! ♥️
It touches me too, heart and soul, sends shivers down my spine, makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck, I get a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Is this what music is like in heaven? I hope so! It's the best version ever!♥️
That was AMAZING. I LOVED IT! I grew up in the mid 1950's to mid 70's and this song was one of my very favorites. Thank you for bringing back a piece of 1964. Great job.
First row musicians of world class symphonic bands strive to reach this perfection of sound and emotion. This voice is a first row mentor. Flawless sound, crisp and real emotion here; enough to reach the soul. The world, every ear, really needs to hear this and gain the same inspiration that we lucky few have enjoyed. Sparks the nuances of love and appreciation within my soul every time I replay this. A classical symphony of one genuine voice genius. Why the word genuine? Check out Malinda's personal story trail and find out why. It's bound to inspire. Trust me.
I am in my mid 40s, mom is 70. She told me the story of how she went on vacation and had never heart of Simon and Garfunkel. Came back 2 weeks later, and everyone was talking about them and this song was everywhere. I played this for her, she didn't say a word, just instantly repeated it. "This gives me chills. Better than the original and I never thought anyone would do that." I agreed, became a patron 30 seconds later. Your voice and Akiane Kramarik's art, y'all have Grace, gifts that are so rich and true only God could have given them. Even if I hadn't had a NDE and seen God several times, people who have gifts of this caliber would make me believe in a higher power. Thank you. This brings peace to the weary and conviction to the doubting. God bless.
Ooooh, that delayed chord on "neon light" (2:00) and "shared" (2:45) (and "walls" later) is such a nice touch! I don't remember it in Simon and Garfunkel's version. Ooooh! 3:36! Aaaah I love this, light in the darkness. That was me falling for tiny but so tasteful touches.
I heard my cousin playing this song on his stereo when I was 7 or 8 (mid 1960s). It grabbed me tight & has never let go. My cousin's room was in the basement of my Aunt's house, & I'd sneak down the stairs, in the dark, just to listen. It's been one of my favorite songs from the start...Thank you for a beautiful rendition ❤

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence"

I was just recently let go from I job that I work so hard to be successful at. This song means so much to hear by me. Malinda I pray you keep such good work going, thank you for producing such a good cover for me to hear while I sleep in the back of my car.
Call on the name of the Lord Dean. Matt 11:28-30
times will change, dont give up hope!
@ Dean Carpenter ..in my 🙏...
@Dean Carpenter so sorry to hear. I wish for you an even better job. Don't lose hope!
Dear Dean Carpenter ,don't lose hope! I know how it is to be in your position. Things will change. Belive in you! You 'll get the recognision that you deserve .Good things will come to you.
Your voice reaches deep into ones soul , filling it full of warmth.
Honey coated rainbows, butterflys floating, bee's honey melting, sun and moon 🌘..... Just what can compare to such a sweet relaxing lovely voice.
Your voice is so beautiful i can't get enough of listening to you sing it's a gift of god
I wanted to say how much I love your voice. Simply magnificent, but everyone else beat me to it. I can only say I listen in awe. ❤❤❤❤❤
Your Voice Is Absolutely Stunning and Breathtaking! I Needed This 🖤
That was the most beautifully haunting rendition of this song I have ever heard. Thank you Malinda!
Oh ... my.... GOD!!! your vocals are gorgeous... I hope you make millions and every thing you want comes to you... you are the embodiment of an angel with a heavenly voice...😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰
Your voice and my ears were made for each other.
The fact that you don't have a multi million dollar record deal is a crime.
The truth has been spoken
Or a blessing, if you appreciate original, personal presentation from an artist
I recon she is doing well, most important she does what she loves and not what one or other fool wants her to sing
My condolences to you.❤
🙏prayers and thoughts.I lost my Mom a month back as well.
A hard time. I lost my mother many years ago. All we have now is memories of the good times.
If lost your mother, you lost it entirely
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Melinda, that was incredible. This song is seriously difficult and few actually attempt to cover it. You killed it.
I have always loved this song, but this version is just mesmerising, you have such a pure, clear voice, just beautiful.
Agree
You touch my soul like Van Morrison, Bob Seger, and Joe Cocker. I listen to you sing, and my soul unlocks and opens up. It's like taking a deep breath after feeling like you were going to drown. Thank you so much! ♥️
It touches me too, heart and soul, sends shivers down my spine, makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck, I get a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Is this what music is like in heaven? I hope so! It's the best version ever!♥️
Really didn't see this one coming. A welcome surprise.
Close your eyes. That’s what heaven sounds like. Beautifully sung 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Angelic voice, angelic person. No words
This is the tempo I have always thought it should be .
More like a hymn, than a Pop song !
Thank you !
never was a pop song
I would say it is really close to the original so whatever you were referring to must have been a pop cover :)
One of the most captivating incredible singers, I have ever heard. I love your singing. Just beautiful.
Trust me.
I would like to see Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel’s reaction to this version. Just beautiful. The true voice of an angel .
This has the otherworldly quality of the original. Beautiful.
Thank you. I couldn't put it into words but you nailed it.
"otherworldly"......👌👍
My Goodness!!! If the sunset had a sound, it would probably sound like you!
That's the most beautiful n truly moving version of this song I've ever heard! Thank you!
WOW!!!! I almost fell out my chair when she started to sing...
People aren’t lying about getting goosebumps❤❤
God bless.
And it’s moments like these where I feel blessed to have found her channel
Wow, these young ladies are good!
Out of This World!!! Shivers went through My Body.Touched My Soul.Soothing Angelic Voice. Gratitude. 💫💜💜💜💫😘
Wow! You have an amazing voice. You sang that beautiful
The voice of an angel from heaven ❤️
I absolutely loved hearing your cover of the sound of silence, hearing your beautiful voice for the first time ❤
This sounds like it’s raining down from heaven. You my dear are absolutely incredibly talented
One of the most powerful songs ever written. Malinda, you have brought me to tears with your rendition. Beautifully done.
3:36 got me too....that was clever
I heard my cousin playing this song on his stereo when I was 7 or 8 (mid 1960s). It grabbed me tight & has never let go. My cousin's room was in the basement of my Aunt's house, & I'd sneak down the stairs, in the dark, just to listen. It's been one of my favorite songs from the start...Thank you for a beautiful rendition ❤
I literally have chills Malinda omg this was amazing I can fall asleep to this
Malinda, your voice is absolutely angelic. I’ve never heard someone make a cover their own in the way you continually do.
its November 30th and I have just discovered your heart melting voice. wow, your not only a beautiful person but your voice is so way beyond beautiful! so much for keeping the heart solid inside the body. mine just melted. WOW! I also minutes ago heard your video of you singing that Christmas carol inside that cathedral! wooo! chilling!
Me too. Same date of discovery. Binging on her work.

I found the short first then came here.
Absolutely amazing.
This is very much a LotR vibe. So ethereal and beautiful!
What a voice of an Angel, if this would not be so beautiful I could cry, such a wonderful version. May God bless and protect you always Malinda
I have the goosebumps. Your version of this song is simply captivating. THANK YOU for sharing your voice with the world. Especially with this song!
Magnifique... Merci.
Just WOW!! You have touched my soul!!!
How wonderful! Thank you so much Ma'am Malinda for sharing your beautiful and mesmerizing voice to sing this beautiful song.
The best version since it was first sung by Simon and Garfunkel - just love this!
This angel better stay on earth for as long as possible
One of the sweetest renditions of a beautiful song.
This may sound odd, but I fall more in love with your voice every time I hear it.
You are definitely not alone with that ! 😅
Same
Exactly the same
Definitely not odd sounding
Add in the atmosphere of surrounding darkness & a single candle light...
Oh mercy... I wish I had a voice like that....i would never stop singing. Your voice, your "version" of this song just hit me in the gut, my heart started to shatter.... and tears just started streaming.
