This is a very good video in understanding how to use this rule for calculating class numbers and width, though I am confused that you use LOG (n), ( which works for me) vs LOG 10^ n which is used in my textbook and other sites ( which I can't get to work).

I think using 3.22 is better than logn +1 is more correct than 3.33
is better to use 1+(ln(n)/ln(2))
