To be honest... for me "rock" is the absolute wrong word for the kooks. It's more like Indie Pop. And that's ok. But it's sadly not MY sound anymore. Their first album felt so youthful but since a while now they played it really safe. More poppy, very clean production, but without the fun melodies and nice guitars they once had. They've become a bit ... bland.
Noah b. The Kooks are my all time favourite band so it's hard to sum this up but I agree to an extent. The first 2 albums are what made it for me. The albums that follwed I still enjoyed but not as much. I have to say but the two songs they have dropped off the new album have me real excited.
