I bought a new bait caster and was fishing it all day with no luck. Switched to my spinning rod and 6 pound test and caught a fish within 10 minutes. It’s crazy how much better the lighter line works sometimes.
Hm.. you are right. I cant think of any lakes that are open 24/7 like you say... Had no idea a place like this even existed.... So used to getting kicked out of parks at sunset....lol😂
I know this is a little late and you guys probably don’t trust me, but put large nightcrawlers on a relatively medium sized hook, and I went to Balboa yesterday and caught 14 bass and a sunfish. Hope this helps.
I used to fish here when I was a kid and we would call them zombie fish. They were all alive but would fall apart in your hand. We pulled one out of the water once and the mouth stayed on the hook and rest of it fell back in the water and swam away. Very common occurrence. This was late 90’s early 2000’s. The older Asian guys would keep the fish and eat them. I wonder how they turned out.

Line can make a big difference at pressured lakes
Try a black blue crayfish pattern work it super slow
For sure, thanks

Yeah I hate that shit. Balboa closes at dusk too but tons go at night
Most pressured lake, that no one ever fishes except for carp and tilapia
It is fished non stop around the clock. You will see a bunch of people fishing every day but yet you say no one ever fishes 😂😂
nice video man 🤟
Thank you
Donkey rig looks amazing in the water. You're on the board for 2023, my friend! Many more to come.
Yes it does and thanks
Should have been there 2020 when all the silver sides were bussing all over the place Balboa was off the hook
For sure this lake goes through some hot fishing phases and drops off at times.
@@adougslife it should be good topwater bite coming soon as it starts to cool down again
Yeah love that fall bite. Weightless flukes are great too.
Loved the video, can't wait to see more! And damn, where was that lady when I used to fish Balboa!
Thanks, appreciate it. And right need that to happen more when fishing haha
cant wait for all the new fishing content especially after having bad fishing weather!
Looking so forward to getting back on the water. Been buying way too many baits haha
Hey Doug any other recommendations for other lakes in the LA area.
Leg Lake, Echo Lake, and Lincoln but city lakes are fished a lot every day so fishing won't be easy.
Not a bad sized bass for a first of the year. 🎣
The fisheye makes it look bigger haha
New follower I been struggling catch bass that lake. I’m keep trying.
Its tough but it should pick up a lil more soon

The fish now look to be very healthy. It's so weird when people keep fish from Balboa
@@adougslifesame I seen people take carp from here . This water is so nasty 🤢 and toxic due to the LA River .
Has anyone ever told you that you resemble Seth Green?
Awesome city fishing!
I’m in LA so we have our little spots where to fish.
Congrats on the catch. And the greenback fishes! That was random lol but good opportunity.
Thank you and yes I love a side hustle that pays
Really?
The MOST pressured?
Where did you find this data to back this claim up?
It's busier than any other lake I've fished in Los Angeles. It's being fished heavily 24 hours a day. What other lake is getting fished that much?
Not much pressure there in reality
It is fished every day 24 hours a day by a lot of people. No other lake in LA is getting fished that much.
this isnt the most pressured lake.. kenneth hann would be the most pressured lake around..
I don't know about that. On any given day, you will see a mass amount of people fishing here 24 hours a day every day
What’s the name of the pond
This is lake Balboa
Thank you so much
Can you catch and cook the fish in this lake?
I absolutely would not eat anything out of this lake
Is there something about the water ?
