    Just a point of note, although wood burning fireplaces may produces up to 3 times the amount of heat of a Bioethanol fireplace, upto 40% of that heat is lost up the chimney, so the differential is far less.

    • @pa_maj.MARTINI-van-MAN
      @pa_maj.MARTINI-van-MAN Рік тому +3

      I think up to three times the heat is rather accurate and the inefficiency of a flue taken into account. I've had an open fire, a log burner and have an ethanol fire.
      If you really need heat that's cost effective, ethanol isn't it; as stated in the video.
      Saying that, they are a nice centre piece and give of adequate heat when a wood stove cannot be fitted or would only be used seldom or on special occasions.

    • @BioFireplaceGroup
      @BioFireplaceGroup  Рік тому +4

      Hi StreetSoulLover,
      Yes, it is correct that on traditional wood-burning fireplaces, some of the heat exits out through the chimney, which is not the case on a bioethanol fireplace. But using a bioethanol fireplace as a replacement heat-source is usually not a profitable solution.
      From our own experience and testing we find that a 2.5 kW bioethanol fireplace can increase the heat from 19C-24C in a 30 sqm room. But the cost of running the bioethanol fireplace usually excees the price of other traditional heating sources.

      Hi Steve
      You need to wait to refill the fireplace till it is cold enough, that you can touch it - usually about 30 min. There are very few bioethanol fireplaces that can last on one filling for an entire day, it is mainly automatic model that have a long enough burn time.

    What is the difference between bio-ethanol and methanol ? I have seen also methanol stoves. In Europe the price for methanol is cheap, currently 😢around 490-600 Euto per metric tonnes. Lets assume a heater needs 5 liters per 24 hours for a tiny house of around 18 m2 ... during whole winter from midth October till midth April = 6 minths it wolud need around 800 liters = 400-500 Euro. Thats monthly 70-85 Euro for around 30-35 m3 room volume. Pretty cheap I would say.

    • @BioFireplaceGroup
      @BioFireplaceGroup  Рік тому +2

      Hi there
      Bioethanol fuel and Methanol is not the same. They're both alcohol, but still not the same. I definitely wouldn't recommend using methanol in a bioethanol fireplace.
      The cost of using a bioethanol fireplace is difficult to calculate. It depends on the size of the fireplace, consumption of fuel per hour, insulation, room size, etc. A bioethanol fireplace cannot be used as a primary heat source, but rather as a secondary heat source that can supplement the primary heat source of the house. This is also why a bioethanol fireplace cannot be left burning when not in the house/when sleeping.
      Hope this clarifies a bit.

      Using methanol in a bioethanol fire is not recommended for several reasons:
      1. **Safety:** Methanol is highly flammable and can produce a hotter and more intense flame than bioethanol. This can exceed the design specifications of a bioethanol fire unit, potentially causing damage or even explosions.
      2. **Health Concerns:** Methanol can produce toxic fumes when burned, including formaldehyde and other harmful gases. This can pose health risks to people in the vicinity of the fire.
      3. **Compatibility:** Bioethanol fireplaces are specifically designed to burn bioethanol fuel, which has different properties than methanol. Using an incompatible fuel can damage the burner and other components of the fireplace, leading to malfunctions or accidents.
      4. **Warranty and Liability:** Using an unauthorized fuel like methanol in a bioethanol fireplace may void any warranties and can make you liable for any damages or accidents that occur as a result.
      To ensure the safety of your bioethanol fireplace and those around it, always use the recommended fuel specified by the manufacturer.

      @@grassblade2 All fireplaces will have a orange flame. So, the flames are going to look real. They can be a bit blue at first, but they just need a couple minutes to get started and get that real orange flame.
      Also, if you use a bioethanol fuel with the correct alcohol percentage (95-97.5%), you're ensured the best flame and burn time of every bioethanol fireplace.

    The air pollution from wood burning stoves is filling our houses with carcinogenic particles. So much so that the latest research suggests stoves should be sold with warnings similar to cigarettes. What is the air pollution impact of burning bioethanol?

    • @jam99
      @jam99 Рік тому +2

      That will depend on the impurities and that will depend on the brand but one would hope far less. Closed-face wood burning stoves have an advantage over open fireplaces.

      @@BioFireplaceGroup hmm you've misunderstood. Each stoves consumption would be different, I'm asking how expensive is the fuel per kWh. By my calculations bioethanol is approx £3.13 at it's cheapest in the UK... Making it approx £0.53 per kWh. Does that sound about right for current market prices. Thanks very much 😎

    • @BioFireplaceGroup
      @BioFireplaceGroup  Рік тому +1

      @@progtom7585 Yes that's correct. Ours is approx £0.71 per kWh - taking that you purchase just one litre of fuel. But if you buy larger quantities such as 6 liters, the price pr. kWh would be approx. £0.5. Make sure that the alcohol percentage is between 95-97.5, otherwise the price pr. kWh might not be accurate, and might be more expensive in the end.
