Sure, a species might not have a copyright, but i still respect a artist's rights to a species or character. Great vid! :-D You have really opened my eyes to some new species! I might meed to make me a gatox, avalie, manokit, and kellashee soon. ;-P Seriously, I hadn't heard of half of those! I constantly learn in this fandom. :-) I don't really have a top 10, but I do own a werebat and am looking into creating a drekkubus. Thanks to Stormi Folf for re-introducing me to the latter! On a more serious note, thank you for explaining the different types of original species (ie. Open, semi, closed), as well as a bit on what goes into making them. I often read from others that hate original species because they "make you follow rules", "the creators are in it to make money", and they "stifle creativity". These entitles individuals don't realize what all went in to that species. The creators spent a lot of time, energy, skill, and even money on these species and they really mean something to them. If they make the species open, or semi-open, they are choosing to share their creation with others. The LEAST one could do is follow a few guidelines. If they want to close them to profit, or keep the species pure, it's their right as the creator. The creative spirit that powers this fandom is a beautiful thing to witness. Respecting a fellow artist's wishes is a small price to pay and simply the right thing to do.
Yeah I never got people who were way against closed species unless the creator was like harassing people for breaking rules or something. Personally some species irk me from a physiological standpoint, but so do mermaids and centaurs. I just don’t see why the hate is so strong sometimes,

Newer/younger furs don't know how original species work and may make mistakes. Just let them know of the rules and they usually say "ok" and abide by them. The issue I've seen are those who just hate ANY restrictions and basically say "Screw you and your rules! I'll do what I want!" That is extremely disrespectful to the artist and it's intentional. You still cannot actively harass that person, but their abhorrent behavior should be called out. I guess there can be a fine line between "correction" and "harassment" sometimes. :-/
I have my own original species i made when i commissioned a fursuit and the species is called a "werecrow" this is a hybrid of a werewolf and a crow! It's an open species and i hope other people will make werecrows too! The species looks like this: It's just a normal crow but it has werewolf hands and a tiny tail, the feet are like a werewolfs but otherwise it's like a crow like i said!

I absolutely adore sodaroos ever since i discovered you Pocari. And everything that are kangaroos as species. My other favorite original species are Drekubus, Sergal, Dutch Angel Dragons, Gem Raptors, Plane Dragons, Skree, Manokits and because of what I am and an original species created by a game company rather than a furry artist, Argonians.
I've always been big on Wickerbeasts. I've had a couple in my time. I love that there can be so much variation and there's almost no restrictions, plus there's still a bit of lore to keep you interested. I want to get a fursuit of my boy Ozzy one day.
I can't believe I came this far in the creation of my species. I remember a week after I started creating them you posted this video. I saw the other species on your list and it inspired me even more to complete the species. I saw the love for the creatures in your heart and I wanted to feel that for something I made myself. 4 years later, I finally have a name for them, a government, a home, most of the anatomy and... I'll be honest.. I worked on the lore ever since I started and it's not even half done... but still! Progress! Thank you for being part of my inspiration!
There’s this original species I really love called pheron they’re a semi-open species, and they aren’t really well known and I feel they’re under appreciated. They have great lore, a great design, and their maker is such a sweetheart who deserves some love and credit for her work. You can find them in the Furry Amino wiki and they even have their own Amino which you can join.
Before this video my fav. original species list was this: 5:Chimereons 4:Dutch angel dragons 3:Manokits 2Drekkubus 1:Protogens But after watching this, I'll probably change it because now I really want to discover more original species with unique lores and designs. :3 Also fluffy shimps are so adorable. @Sarah Kemp Dutch Angel Dragons are made of energy instead of organic material iirc. Open for correction. This means that they are essentially able to change their entire appearance via dying and reincarnation.

I agree, I think the concept in itself Is pretty odd. Like, I get not wanting tons of fursuits made of your original species, but don't see why or how you would even regulate people drawing them etc. You can't really take ownership of something like that unless your get some legal evidence anyway. I'm not saying I would go against the creators wishes, but still
I haven't watched the video yet so I hope this is still an original so .. yeah it's my fursona ( I dont have a fursuit yet i need to be older :( I'm 11 ) her name is Ayah she is a purple/lavender tasmanian devil that is clumsy, competitive and can be a little rough ( also I named her Ayah because it means "miracle" in a different language , to me she's a miracle because I would've never been a fan of furries or even known what they are but a friend of mine introduced me to them and I immediately fell in love with the community❤)
This video is what made me finally decide to join the Fandom back in 2019 when I saw Manokits, since watching it I made my own boyo and I love him!!!!!! Also the idea of having a manokit be born in a soda cup was too funny to me so I decided my Mano was born in an HJ's cup.
There’s an amazing original species that I saw on the furry amino recently. They’re called Folidai and they are these super cool looking reptilian dragon creatures who literally grow plant life all over their bodies. Like, they have special scales that they carefully grow and tend to plants on like their entire body is their own personal unique garden! It’s one of the most creative things I’ve seen in the fandom, and they are an open species too! They were created by a person who goes by the name of “xperhant” for anyone interested.

I have a sub-species or angel dragons and they are snow leopard based with fins like fish running down their back, tail, and some on their paws. They also have half feathered and half fish-like dragon parts
My original species is called an Angelsaur, a floofy mix between an angel and a dinosaur! I currently only have two main fursonas that are Angelsaurs, but I'm thinking of making more fursonas that aren't really that more important. There's Neo, the High Angelsaur, and the controller of heaven, and then, there's Midriosk, which was cast out of heaven for going against the controllers. Despite this, Neo thought that was kind of an overreaction of the controllers. Neo still sometimes flies down to Earth just to visit him.
I was helping my friend with fursona design, bc I'm kinda good in drawing. So I asked, "well, what's their specifies tho?" And they was like "oh, I was thinking of hybrid of cat and axolotl". And omfg im in love with the little creature we did!
So, my cousin made a raptor/oxolotyl mix and someone scolded her saying she couldn't make it. The person also said that she was not the original so she just basically didnt want my cousin to make a species that wasn't hers.
I created an original species once. I call it a pickle dog. It has to have a long body like a sausage dog, have to look somewhat like a dog, and it needs to be mostly green. But other than that, you can really do whatever you want with it's design. Feel free to make one yourself!
Watching this definitely makes me want to design my own. …Which I'll probably do anyway, because I'm having a hard time finding the right fit of personality for my fursona. I've got it narrowed down, though. I love worldbuilding, so I'll almost certainly come up with some lore.
I made my own species too! So it's the llou, they are owls with large fluffy ears and they are natural colours, some have horns, the have fluffy tails with feathers at the end, the have large wings for flying, and are usually based on real species. (Mine is a great horned owl (bubo virginianus)
My furry species is the slime creatures, they even have rabbit ears, and the only organs they have is the brain, and the digestive system. Edit: and some of the Slime creatures can only be touched if you’re wearing a bio-safety suit, because some Slime Creatures have an extreme bio-hazard since they are made out of multi-cellular slime and can live just fine when they are exposed to germs that can lead to disease, since germs find Slime Creatures as a cozy home and can live inside of them just fine without harming the insides of the Slime Creature. And Slime Creatures grow their babies in a safe area of the stomach and get barfed out when they are ready to give birth, even the male Slime Creatures can give birth! And These Species are Open, but you need to make your OC different from all the rest of the other Slime Creature OCs because just like humans, they all look different from one another. And They were made from a science experiment, and they started to even populate Mercury, Venus, & Mars.
I doubt anyone will see this comment, but manokits got updated species rules! Some can breathe underwater now, and there’s even more lore, including some really cool goddesses and whatnot. I’d love to see what Pocari would do with Niho and the new species updates. It’s all on the manokit amino, so if you have one/want one I’d look there!
I had never heard of any of these species before! Except primagens, and then only vaguely, and I didn't know what made them different from protogens. But then again, I'm a mere 3 months into the fandom 😆

I absolutely adore sodaroos ever since i discovered you Pocari. And everything that are kangaroos as species. My other favorite original species are Drekubus, Sergal, Dutch Angel Dragons, Gem Raptors, Plane Dragons, Skree, Manokits and because of what I am and an original species created by a game company rather than a furry artist, Argonians.

I've always been big on Wickerbeasts. I've had a couple in my time. I love that there can be so much variation and there's almost no restrictions, plus there's still a bit of lore to keep you interested. I want to get a fursuit of my boy Ozzy one day.
I can't believe I came this far in the creation of my species. I remember a week after I started creating them you posted this video. I saw the other species on your list and it inspired me even more to complete the species. I saw the love for the creatures in your heart and I wanted to feel that for something I made myself. 4 years later, I finally have a name for them, a government, a home, most of the anatomy and... I'll be honest.. I worked on the lore ever since I started and it's not even half done... but still! Progress! Thank you for being part of my inspiration!
There’s this original species I really love called pheron they’re a semi-open species, and they aren’t really well known and I feel they’re under appreciated. They have great lore, a great design, and their maker is such a sweetheart who deserves some love and credit for her work. You can find them in the Furry Amino wiki and they even have their own Amino which you can join.

I agree, I think the concept in itself Is pretty odd. Like, I get not wanting tons of fursuits made of your original species, but don't see why or how you would even regulate people drawing them etc. You can't really take ownership of something like that unless your get some legal evidence anyway. I'm not saying I would go against the creators wishes, but still
I haven't watched the video yet so I hope this is still an original so .. yeah it's my fursona ( I dont have a fursuit yet i need to be older :( I'm 11 ) her name is Ayah she is a purple/lavender tasmanian devil that is clumsy, competitive and can be a little rough ( also I named her Ayah because it means "miracle" in a different language , to me she's a miracle because I would've never been a fan of furries or even known what they are but a friend of mine introduced me to them and I immediately fell in love with the community❤)

There’s an amazing original species that I saw on the furry amino recently. They’re called Folidai and they are these super cool looking reptilian dragon creatures who literally grow plant life all over their bodies. Like, they have special scales that they carefully grow and tend to plants on like their entire body is their own personal unique garden! It’s one of the most creative things I’ve seen in the fandom, and they are an open species too!
They were created by a person who goes by the name of “xperhant” for anyone interested.

My original species is called an Angelsaur, a floofy mix between an angel and a dinosaur! I currently only have two main fursonas that are Angelsaurs, but I'm thinking of making more fursonas that aren't really that more important. There's Neo, the High Angelsaur, and the controller of heaven, and then, there's Midriosk, which was cast out of heaven for going against the controllers. Despite this, Neo thought that was kind of an overreaction of the controllers. Neo still sometimes flies down to Earth just to visit him.

So, my cousin made a raptor/oxolotyl mix and someone scolded her saying she couldn't make it. The person also said that she was not the original so she just basically didnt want my cousin to make a species that wasn't hers.
I created an original species once. I call it a pickle dog. It has to have a long body like a sausage dog, have to look somewhat like a dog, and it needs to be mostly green. But other than that, you can really do whatever you want with it's design. Feel free to make one yourself!
Watching this definitely makes me want to design my own. …Which I'll probably do anyway, because I'm having a hard time finding the right fit of personality for my fursona. I've got it narrowed down, though. I love worldbuilding, so I'll almost certainly come up with some lore.

I made my own species too! So it's the llou, they are owls with large fluffy ears and they are natural colours, some have horns, the have fluffy tails with feathers at the end, the have large wings for flying, and are usually based on real species. (Mine is a great horned owl (bubo virginianus)
My furry species is the slime creatures, they even have rabbit ears, and the only organs they have is the brain, and the digestive system.
Edit: and some of the Slime creatures can only be touched if you’re wearing a bio-safety suit, because some Slime Creatures have an extreme bio-hazard since they are made out of multi-cellular slime and can live just fine when they are exposed to germs that can lead to disease, since germs find Slime Creatures as a cozy home and can live inside of them just fine without harming the insides of the Slime Creature. And Slime Creatures grow their babies in a safe area of the stomach and get barfed out when they are ready to give birth, even the male Slime Creatures can give birth! And These Species are Open, but you need to make your OC different from all the rest of the other Slime Creature OCs because just like humans, they all look different from one another. And They were made from a science experiment, and they started to even populate Mercury, Venus, & Mars.
I doubt anyone will see this comment, but manokits got updated species rules! Some can breathe underwater now, and there’s even more lore, including some really cool goddesses and whatnot. I’d love to see what Pocari would do with Niho and the new species updates. It’s all on the manokit amino, so if you have one/want one I’d look there!

I had never heard of any of these species before! Except primagens, and then only vaguely, and I didn't know what made them different from protogens. But then again, I'm a mere 3 months into the fandom 😆
