- Abandoned Road & Bridge Over Norfolk Southern Railroad, Train Speed Checked With Radar! Odd Railroad Crossing With Only A Bell & Crossbucks! One Bell Only! Penn Central Railroad Locomotive Goes Under Me. Norfolk Southern Heritage Unit Top View. These trains are in central Kentucky on the Norfolk Southern Rat Hole Line which is north of Lexington, Kentucky. Corinth, Kentucky is the closest town. The last train has 2 BNSF locomotives and a Union Pacific locomotive. The pets are at the end featuring my new puppy, Loki. Don't forget about the slide show also.
The first train is at Delaney Road. We see the closed road and abandoned bridge that goes over the railroad mainline. I was told that the bridge was removed but then recently the person who told me that informed me that they were in error. The bridge has not been removed yet so I hurried down there and filmed a couple of trains going under it. The first train was an empty unit steel coils train. It stopped right after passing me and had to wait due to railroad maintenance of way.
The second train was a loaded steel coils train but I went back to my vehicle for a phone call and almost missed it. I waited a couple of hours for that train and went to my vehicle at the worst possible time. You can see the rear DPU shoving the train southbound. The train numbers are what I heard the dispatcher calling them.
The third train is a grain train going under me. I used radar to check the speed although it was going very slowly due to track maintenance . Notice that this train has a Norfolk Southern Heritage Unit. It has the Penn Central locomotive.
I'm just glad the bridge is still there. This is a perfect Railfan location. It's very remote, quiet and has a great view. The radio works here very well due to the elevation and nothing blocking the signals. This is mile post 46 and you can pick up the defect detector from mile post 33 and 41.
Next we check out an unusual public railroad crossing that is just a few miles north of the bridge. This crossing is pretty unique. This is a two track crossing with only 2 cross bucks and 1 bell! The thing is, when the train is coming and you are in a car, you can not hear the bell. The last time that I filmed this crossing a pick up truck demonstrated that. Lol. The bell requires a shanty for batteries and electrical equipment, an electric meter on a poll and a parking area to maintain the equipment. With the routine inspections that are required, this is one expensive bell! The last time that I featured this video a couple of people told me about similar crossings. I found both of them on Google Maps and sure enough, they were similar. Both were out west. Let me know if you know of one.
The northbound train at this crossing was pretty cool. It is a Norfolk Southern train without an NS locomotive. It has 2 BNSF and 1 UP locomotive. This railroad is usually pretty busy but the day that I was here it was slow. I waited a couple of hours between the first two trains and then more than an hour between the others. I think I got 6 trains in the first 7 hours and then I got a few more after that for another video. The next video from this day will show a recently abandoned railroad crossing in Williamstown, Kentucky. Don't miss it!
Filmed Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Hey JT, Brany has a new lease of life with her new playmate. ♥️♥️. Maybe they forget to take out the bridge, its a good spot to film. 👍👍👍👍
We're glad you got to film that old bridge for the last time. No problem missing that next train , it's disappointing we know but theres many . more you're doing good Mr. JT. Love hearing your railroad scanner.😊 What a cute name for puppy. Loki is growing fast. Congratulations onhis name. Enjoyed this video. 😊Loved the trains.
Sorry for the loss of the bridge JT, some great train action. Thanks for the video.🙏
Awesome catches. Thanks again for sharing your videos. God bless
Great shots from the bridge, Loki and Brandy get along great, she is very gentle with him❤
Awesome video!! Loved the triple ACes leading the grain train with Penn Central HU 2nd. Top shelf lashup!
Amazing that bridge is still standing. Cool trains. Loki and Brandy are buddies. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Great video JT!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
Another great video JT!. Weather there looks good but the old bridge has certainly seen better days. Progress keeps on rolling along and the old familiar places change with it.
The new dog, Loki, looks as though Brandy has adopted him! She's in her second childhood playing with the youngster, it'll be good for her and help keep her active. Enjoy having him around as he won't stay a puppy for long!
Happy Sunday to all.. Enjoy the day!!
Happy Sunday to you as well
You too
@@trainfan4014 Hey John.. Stay Safe..👍✌
I will😁🙂😉
Great video shots! It was nice to see that the bridge hasn’t been removed - yet!
Another great video JT. I always enjoy them. 😊😊
I've got a feeling it's best not to lean on the parapet of this outdated bridge! 🤔
Yes, you are correct 🎉😊
Hey Jaw Tooth, great you are in Lexington
KY and some more great trains on the tracks
on the abandoned bridge was really great
and very good view of the trains going on
through underneath the bridge and always
some beautiful scenery around you there

Jaw Tooth.
🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
Thanks for they’re video today, Brain. Always entertaining to watch and experience. See you on the next! ❤😊
Sweet catch Jaw tooth! With an SD70ACC too! Sweet radar as well!! Keep up the great work!
Last train/manifest was booking, highballing, nice video JT!🛤🚂
Very awesome action there, my friend
Thanks for the old bridge update. A guy can't catch every train but you manage to get most of them, I still count that as a good day. Great video, enjoyed it immensely!
Thanks for the update on the bridge.
Hey JawTooth awesome job
Keep up the great work 👌👌
The last train had everything...good catch.
Those old arched railroad crossing bridges are the most beautiful from the past! Thanks for saving it again in video for future generations to see Jawtooth!👍
I hope to get there again soon while I can
JT---
Another great confusion of entertainment and enlightenment! Lots of good videos on the rat-hole line.
You keep us entertained!
Thanks!
Awesome!! Having dinner watching....Wonderful World of Jawtooth...
Great place with that abandoned bridge great NS trains great video thanks Jaw tooth
Really cool hearing that bobwhite. Thing of the past in Georgia.
Great video. Old bridge and crossing with a bell. Then I heard that Quail call out. It has been years since I have heard that. You noticed it too.
Great job jaw 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 love the bridge hopefully it’s Around for awhile 👍🏻Robin out . Dogs Having A good time . 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Hopefully you had better luck catching up with the trains after a few minutes. Enjoy your day Rail fanning
One 👌 👍 last time on the bridge 🌉 I remembered you going over the bridge nice 👍 👌 trains I know that feeling you wait for the train then something comes aww missed it o well next time puppy get bigger
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
Another great video sir! That was a super cool spot you found on that bridge. Very nice!
Thanks Brandon! I appreciate your support and have a great day
@@JawTooth yes sir of course! Hope you enjoy the rest of your day as well. 😉👍🏻
Some pretty neat action on NS, BNSF and UP powering one train, and NS Penn central heritage unit second out on another, pretty cool. Surprising there’s a bell on that little used crossing and can’t be heard from inside a vehicle, serves a purpose somehow. Your new furry friend is growing and is very playful and I’m sure is very happy. Hate to see that bridge go because you can get some fantastic shots from it. Thanks for sharing JT, take care.
Nice catch on the grain train JT, with th PC Heritage unit. Keep the live action going!
thanks!
Oh Geez! That "only a bell" crossing must not have rail traffic at night, please tell me this is so. Another amazing find, Mr. Tooth. But this should be expected. I still don't think you sleep at all 😴🛌🚫
It's more that it barely has any road traffic. Those kinds of crossings are typically on dead-end roads that just have one or two houses or farms on them. The few people who use the road know that they need to stop and check the tracks are clear before crossing.
Nice job JT! Thank you for the risk you take getting these videos out. Nice shirt too.
Hi Jaw Tooth. Long time no see! Great video with lots o variety. Why did box cars become si ugly? Congratulations on your puppy. Really nice. All the best.
Great catch of the Penn Central heritage unit. I didn't notice it til the end.
Really digging your videos. Get them trains runnin boyo! Much love and respect to all rail fans. ☮️ Jaw Tooth
Awesome video with a dpu working hard but wait there’s more 👍😎🇺🇸🚂👍
Surprised that the bridge lasted as long as it did. Awesome video.
Great start to the week!👍👍👍👍
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo et très bon dimanche ! 🌟

😉
Love those puppies
me too. lol
Isn't gr8 how the dogs 🐕 get along so well
😅
That old crossbuck crossing is pretty cool. I would say it was the safest crossing, but it isn't in a high traffic area and so the local folks should know about it :) When I lived in Ohio, I went through a crossbuck only crossing almost every day. I believe they finally upgraded it to lights and bars.
Those use to be very common in Ohio. When I was little my favourite crossing only had one cross buck. One cross buck that protected both sides of the crossing. lol
That's a shame about that old bridge, I bet it was a nice place to capture a train on video.❤
another good video by you awesome 😊enjoyed this week's video s by you budie 😉
10:37 👍🏾😨😅Ohhhh that’s penn central nice catch men😅😨👍🏾 10:37 because that’s a heritage unit
You have a lot of patience to be able to stay in an out of the way place like that for hours waiting for the train! Do you ever get bothered by people or police asking what you’re there for? I’d like to get out to some of these places myself; wondering what to expect. Thanks! Great footage as always JT.
I just wat to add: how kind of you to make compliments to JT. I do agree. I love his videoa.
I love this video of trains from this state what ever this where this is in United States 😊
Good morning I enjoyed that video👍👍
Good morning London!
Nice video. Did you know that you caught the Penn central heritage unit on the grain train?
Fantastic Jawtooth!
JT, it's nice to see EMD power every now and then.
10:17 fantastic video my friend, i liked it! Greetings from Brasil 🇧🇷
3 EMD's on the same train. Pretty rare, these days. Great video, JT. 😀
That crossing with the one bell is the strangest thing I have ever seen. It should be upgraded to lights and gates but who knows if that will happen. Again awesome video. Have a nice day 😊🌈
It's probably on a road with one or two houses on it. It's always clear on that sort of crossing that you just have to stop and check that the line's clear.
Love the overhead video.
Sounds like a "Bob White".
Morning all -another jawtooth special awaits !!
Good Morning 🌅🌄
Nice freight trains!
And jaw tooth and that's cool train video also that's oldest bridge time changes ❤😊
Going down the list, I'm finding episodes i missed😮. When was a kid my father took me to work with him when he was near railroad tracks, LIRR or long Island railroad. He put up billboards. He would put a penny or quarter on the tracks. They would be flat or smooshed after the train. They book too! 💨💨
wow, i finally saw a couple crows flying... i always look for birds and deer but rarely see them.
Good morning Jaw Tooth 😊
Thank you for another great video, JT. My kids were thoroughly impressed with the BNFS and Union Pacific. We have on our Lionel Layout Santa Fe F7’s war bonnet red, and Union Pacific F7’s. The UP F7’s were my dad’s when he was a kid. We also have a Canadian Pacific GP9 high nose, and a Virginian SD40. My son couldn’t wait for church to be over so we could watch your video! Thanks again.
Wow, that is awesome! Thanks for your kind words and you have some really awesome trains. Have a great Sunday!
Awesome video JT!!!
Great good video, mr Jaw Tooth.
Every railroadcompany stay for safety?
Come on, a railroadcrossing with only a bell? Sorry that is ridicolous and here in Europa not done. Old bridges will be broken up in a few months.
Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands.
😂nice video, yes that old bridge is in bad shape,😊
The old tan colored Dog I forget her name seemed lonely and not enjoying life until you got the new puppy now she seems happier playing with him I shure would like to know where ya all got him My Dog Kato passed away last December and was looking for a new Buddy I am 65 and disabled and my family is all grown and am by myself most of the time Your videos provide me with entertainment I contracted with the Rail roads as a Driver before I had to retire for medical reasons, thank you J.T. I am in western PA in Beaver county we have 3 RR lines running through our Town of Beaver Falls, 2 Norfolk Southern 1 CSX, lots of bridges crossing over them and each other. Come see some time make some videos.
I love your videos you are such a cool person
cool video
We had a couple of old rickety bridges like these over the old CNW lines in St Francis WI. More than a few lead foots busted their chassis launching over like the Duke Boys 😂
Another nice video!
I always like those old bridges; the new ones seem too cookie-cutter in aesthetics. And what were those empty hopper-looking cars behind the steel coil cars in the first train?
EDIT: LOL, I asked that question before the second train you showed!!😅
Nice video, JT!!
I think Loki has found a new friend.
Very nice. Do 1 in Portugal!
Awesome catches
pup and brandy seen to have taken to each other.
Should have investigated the slow order a little. Much more to Railroading that watching "DPU's"a. Liked the video by the way.
Good video Jawtooth
Thanks!
15:40 There are plenty of crossings here in PA with lights and no bell or gates. That's the first time I've seen one with just a bell.
We have some with just lights but they have been replacing them with the full monty in Ohio
@@JawTooth do You live in mount orab, ohio?
I like the way you intro your vidos
The quail died out in Ohio in the cold winter of 1977. That winter wiped out the pheasants too. it was awesome to hear
the "Bob White" call.
I remember seeing some in the mid 90s on my farm but I haven't seen one since
I think the mid 90s I saw a few on my farm and not since then
Olá amigo, boa noite, sempre com abordagens muito bacanas, mais um lindo registro com imagens lindas, like merecido 👏💯
Nice Video
At 13:51 I heard a bobwhite quail calling and at 14:21 you mentioned it. 😁👍🪶
Surprised the coil train is one of the few remaining unit trains and usually has a push you/pull me engine setup, but not today.
Excellent Video
🌵🏵️🇮🇳🏵️🌵
thanks Taslim!
Go Loki go 👍👁👁👍
A heritage unit and all foreign power I would say that makes for a great day
Thanks for watching !
They also put rolls of aluminum on those cars ‘Tooth. Watched a show on the history channnel in regards to aluminum, they showed similar cars that had aluminum rolls in them!
Bell crossings were common when I went braking. NY, NH & H.
Great video and catches
The last look, always a sad moment.
That's a good place to railfan 👍
It really is
They should keep the bridge and keep it for foot traffic so folks can film from it just like y'all did. Sweet SD70s!
I wish they would but a worker told me it is coming down soon. I will film from it again soon if I can
@@JawTooth That's a shame. Those old wood bridges are becoming scarce.
Too bad the bridge wasn’t kept as a viewing platform. Is it gone yet? Is this in Dry ridge? The second engine was decorated in Penn Central Design?
Love your videos,,,how do you get all of your information on where the trains are running,,,
Nice
