Thank you for sharing when I do a three card spread I do find it easier to do. And I do know that I need to move on to the other spreads that are in the guides books. But I feel more comfortable with just one card a day though. So I do need more practice with the three card spread and I know I will get there eventually. It just takes time for me as I am a carer and I can only do what I can do. And I am using a book I bought by Jessica Wiggam and I find it is really easy for me to follow. I would prefer spreads as I am still a beginner and it will take time for me to really do all the spreads in the guide books they say to do. Stay safe and blessed be.
No need to rush lovely. Just take your time. Enjoy the spread you find and when you are ready go for bigger spreads, but only when you are ready. There is absolutely no need to rush the learning process.
Thank you, this was helpful! I am a relative beginner to tarot (reading for only myself for about a year now), and I am also a person who understands things best when I can see overarching themes and patterns. I love learning about the meanings of each individual card and the suits in general, but I wonder if you can recommend a book where they go over any "big picture" themes and patterns? Like, in general what do all of the queens have to say? I know each one is different, but when you pull a queen, how will the message generally be different than drawing one of the knights? Etc. Or are there similarities across suits for specific numbers, like are all the 7's connected somehow? Anyway, is there a book that might address this?
Thank you for your lovely comment. To answer your question, Check out a book called "Understanding the Tarot Court" by Mary Kate Greer and Tom Little. This book will help you understand the court cards. Tarot and Astrology: Enhance Your Readings with the Wisdom of the Zodiac by Corrine Kenner will help you further in drawing parallels within the context of the pip cards. I hope this helps xo
For me spreads almost always morph into freeform as I just need more information, and have to actively stop myself to not go rough😅 I started out as a wee 5 yr old with my grandmas cards and toothpicks or coins - laying out 3 cards and dropping toothpicks/coins on top of them to know how the cards were moving, blocked, what was important in the card, and then build the story from there. Started with plant readings (getting to know the plant) and learning to make remedies.
How sweet, I started young too, with bones and cowrie shells on the side. I love hearing about how folks start their Tarot journey. There is ala way magic in this stories. Thank you for sharing
@AvalonCameron what about your little ones have they played/learned from littles too? I have a theory that many freeform readers started "play"reading as kids and the structured spreads to us can feel a little like a pair of tight pants, they are nice for those "wanna look good/professional" situations but as soon as we have to do "reel work" we have to get them off to move freely 😅 and spreads are also really useful when I'm blocked or feeling rundown or distant from my core, they are like fire starters.
Indeed! I don't typically pull just one card a day, I prefer three. I do, however, pull one Oracle card a day because some questions are Oracle questions, and some are tarot
Thank you so much for such a thorough video, I am an experience Oracle cards reader - both free flow and personalised spread based on client main topic- . I am wondering if you mix oracle in your Tarot card reading and if you would be willing or open to do Video where you share from your experience how you would choose which oracle goes with which tarot cards to bring an expanded deeper reading.
When I started reading I have tried to learn spreads and the structures of bringing them into my practice. But I didn't get it and couldn't get it to work and just not able to get it work. I have attempted to try them again but nop... Now I know I am a freeform kind of person. When see a question I try to stick with a spread I created to answer the question but as I read... a spread comes to my mind and I love un-pack that.

I can relate to a theme emerges and repeat, also there seems to be 2 to three cards sings the loudest.

Yes lovely, I can do a video like that for you. I will add it to my video topics list. Thank you for the suggestion.

It sounds like a perfectly natural occurrence.
I read runes and I use spread positions, but it was interesting to hear your thoughts on free form.
Thank you
