A Frontside 360 is a great trick to have in your arsenal because it can be pulled off any park jump or side hit on the mountain. Take a lap with Nev and Leon as they go over some of the most common mistakes riders face when learning Front 3's.

    1) The coach pops off the jump almost twice as high as the rider.
    2) The rider blocks his spin into a shifty and does a catch-up at the end to land, while the coach drives his shoulder the whole way to keep a full spin.
    3) The rider spots the landing looking forward, the coach spots the landing looking backwards, then turns his body forward after landing. (Blind Landing on front 360, like a Backside 180)
    4) The rider seems to float sideways, while the coach floats forward.
    Good coaching! Love these vids

How can i take some coaching lessons with you. I really need to progress.
I have been riding for 15+ years and im very aggressive rider, i can go really fast, hit large jumps, do big drops, and love trees. But lacking alot in freestyling and tricks.
I got me a new board this year arbor westmark rocker, a bit more forgiving then my Libtech hot knife. My guess is maybe thats what might be keeping from progression?

Boards don't hold you back with progression. Start in the small jumps and side hits if you want to start spinning. Learn how rotation and counter rotation works. And ride switch til you can carve confidently on it. Then start your 180s

This is a great vid. Should make a segment where you ride with random people and ask what they’re trying to do and teach them along the way

My front 3's look very similar to Leon's, and I was hoping you'd touch on the upper body counter rotation. When watching his left arm, that's exactly what mine does as well. Sort of stays behind and then I have to throw my hand over my head for the last bit of the rotation. Any suggestions, Nev?

Mike H yeah I’d like a step 2 video where Nev tidies up some of that stuff - but amazing how simply the setup carve improved it so much

It looks like he isn't pre "twisting". So he doesnt have momentum to finish the turn while in the air, making him awkwardly counter-rotate towards the end.
Also he should do the blind landing, instead of trying to land with looking downhill.
He should also pop before trying to rotate, cause it's kind of a sloppy 360 and it makes him jump sideways instead of forward

I think the main issue is that he initiates the spin too early and is pre-spinning out of the takeoff. You really need to keep the prewind till the nose of your board clears the lip of the kicker and then spin. Doing so, you get more speed, stability and rotation. The arm flaring will also disappear naturally

Just got back into snowboarding, but when I left off about 8 years ago I was trying 540's. I see him using the same technique I was using to try and get around on a 5. It looks like almost carving a 90 off the lip to try and make the full rotation vs a good pop off the lip. Whenever i was doing that 90 off the lip I would instantly shoot to the other side of the landing. Is an almost straight line with a pop off the lip the proper way to do spins?

@@dan.r9220 big carve or small carve, the board should always leave the lip as straight forward as possible. Pre-spin (going ~90 degs on the takeoff already) might feel like it is easier to get rotation, but only because your wind-up on is not on point. If you fix that, you can go straight off the jump and get rotation like a figure skater
