I always liked Steven Wilson, but holy shit, Marco Minnemann, Nick Beggs, and Guthrie Govan in one room? Sold.
Top notch musicians.
Marco Minnemann............what a drummer.
lol "You're much louder than me! That's not fair!"
1:20 and I quote, "It's a fucking perfect one of those things, you just toss it off and it ends up being like the hip shit, you know?" Genius.
Lol agreed.
+Darren Brown The part of the track they're talking about there always stands out to me when I listen to the recording.
...as Alan Parsons casually walks around the room setting up mics you know it is a monster session!!!!
Simply one of the best records in the history of modern music
The album is absolutely marvellous.. Also, I can see that pretty much the whole crew is equipped with ATH-M50's headphones.. I feel kinda special listening to their album on these now :)
I've listened to the song over 100 times. I love it. I listen to it if i need an answer. This song is my center. I'm even planning to get a tattoo with something out of this. But please tell me, why is it named luminol???
I´ve a theory=
(I maybe really wrong, correct me if so, please)
In chemistry -OL means "alcohol"
"Lumen" from latin etymology "Light"
So, can be referred as "An alcohol derived from light", that can make sense with the "Holy Drinker" metaphor in the same album.
I understand it as a spiritual beverage that brings knowledge, wisdom or "inside lightning"...
@Fenderking From what I've read, the song is about a street musician who is ignored by everyone, yet he keeps busking. He is a ghost while still alive.
@@HiramBlackSheep It's a lovely dissection, but Luminol is a fairly well known chemical used to detect bloodstains and other bodily fluids by making them fluoresce. So the name's around the idea of an otherwise unseen bloodstain being revealed, fitting somewhat with the ghost-story aspect of the album.
I LOVE THIS STUFF . . . !!!
Just awesome
Nice upload kscopemusiclondon.. thanks ; )
Des musiciens de dingue sans qui Steven Wilson ( que j'adore ) ne serait pas ou moins....
The raven that refused to sing is one of my favourite records..
I was told a show in Germany was filmed as the band still had Guthrie and Marco..I don't know when they plan on a DVD/Blu-Ray release , but at least its "in the can" so to speak. btw would love if they do a film on the October 20th 2013 show coming up at the Royal Albert Hall..epic! And this group and material deserves all we can get :)
KScope, Please film this tour for a dvd!
Go Adam! Loved you're bit in the studio!
How is it to wear shoes Steven ? ;)
Marco Mineman Nick Beggs freaking awesome
Note :- Luminol as well as holy drinker is been recorded just not luminol .
i feel saxophone should have been extended in the song holy drinker ,the played at 1.04
Steven con un bajo! cuando sale el disco?
I wonder who makes all the sheet music since Steven can't read music
MrCookie31c I'm pretty sure all of the musics there know how to read and write music. Probably they helped, or any one involved in the production.
thats super surprising to find out that he cant read music
www.innerviews.org/inner/wilson2.html here is a link to an enterview where you guys can find that out
man that's pretty darn good for practice good. Adam you were right. nice insight into the process,...Tossitov the Russian philosopher/drummer/cumposeuer...? Still tossing off in the best way.
Grande Beggs
Does anyone wear their guitar lower than Steven?
Ramones maybe hahaha!
This disc was recorded like this? With all the band playing each song together??
It was recorded live for the most part but there were still a lot of overdubs.
you're much louder than me! it's not fair! :D
25 de febrero.
Guess I ended up here from Nick Beggs...
Needed a bit of Chapman Stick, but fun to watch the studio.
please dont beat me up but I have to ask the question !
does Steve Wilson do the voice of the geico gecko ?
69pinkmeat no and it doesn't even sound like it.. lol
Any idea what song the bassist plays at 3:55? I was hoping that would appear on the album but it didn't :(
It's called "warming up" by "every bassist ever".
Reminded me of "Can't Keep This Pressure On" by Spandau Ballet, dude from 5 years ago
There's a whole lotta dicking around goin on here.
That $ clock is ticking ......
+sturoc0 According to Wikipedia, the album was recorded during 15-21 September 2012. They probably made deals to have the studio, personnel and gear for a week (recording sessions in commercial studios always work in blocks of time), so they had time for some self-enjoyment as long as they stayed within this timeframe. Moreover, with a daily rate of 2,5K USD for the room they used, recording studio costs were probably the least of their worries, even they spent half their time messing around.
Nick Beggs of Kajagoogoo goes progressive this time.. nice..
It was always in there busting to get out, there’s been prog in beggs for a long time, that’s why he’s fluent on chapman stick as well lol.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
drums.
Love SW but there’s no reason for him to play bass....
