@@ldegmtrainspotterBeing Irish myself, I have a personal story about Clonsilla and Coolemine - my grandfather on my Dad’s side used to work at the CIE Railway Engineering works in Inchicore in Dublin and lived on CIE owned lands along the “Canal Banks” between Coolemine and Clonsilla in my childhood in the 1970’s & 1980’s - back then, we used to know Mrs Byrne at the (back then) manually operated level crossing beside the present day Coolemine Station - back then, the trains were so punctual on the Dublin Connolly to Sligo line that you could set your watch by them, even goods trains, as Mrs Byrne used to give us children copies of the timetable, in the days when there was also a line between Mullingar and Athlone, this line was also used for the Connemara Express Train from Dublin to Galway up to the 1970’s - she used to be told to close the gates after she got a phone call from either Dublin Connolly or Clonsilla
@@ldegmtrainspotterAlthough I now live in the U.K. (Manchester) my extended family live in Dunshaughlin, Co Meath and we are hoping that with the extension of the M3 Parkway Line to Navan, getting home to visit them will become much easier in the coming years - and even better if a high-speed rail tunnel is built under the Irish Sea from Holyhead to Dublin Connolly, as one possible route for this tunnel to surface on the Irish side would be onto the main Dublin-Belfast line which would allow for direct rail services into Dublin Connolly from the U.K. and Europe via the Channel Tunnel - the Irish government is planning a lot of rail investment in the coming years with some very exciting rail projects, including rail links from Dublin Airport with Metro and also with DART Underground so we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the developments
