You're so right about people lying when selling vintage storm riders. For anyone looking to hunt for a good vintage piece, easiest indicator of a genuine pre-80's, 100% wool lining is if the lining pattern is horizontal, not vertical. Also the tag needs to specifically say the size and "101lj" on the tag. Most importantly, NO HANDWARMER POCKETS.
Thanks for that! So many people sell a very clearly 90s-2000s claiming it to be a 60s-70s. As is the 29 inch back and hand warmer pockets didn’t give it away. Then they also want you to pay 400 dollars for a jackets full of stains 😂
I purchased one of these and you are correct about the lining. I find that the lining will bunch up at my wrists sometimes so i have to reach in through the armpits and tug on it to even it out a bit lol. I own a Lee storm rider from the 80s and the quality is much better. I suggest you try looking for one the cut on those is very similar to this jacket so they did do a good job replicating it. As for the collar the corduroy on the original is much thicker and has a wider pattern. Overall i would suggest that if you can find an original vintage Lee's (even the one with the vertical lining print and hand warmer pockets) in good condition and in a similar price point as this one that you choose that instead. Overall good value for money though. Also anyone looking for a type 2 denim jacket should definetly checkout bronson. It is one of my favorite denim jackets and imo you cannot find a better type 2 for the price.
Love the stormrider, hoping they restock soon so I can pick one up for myself for next winter here in socal! What's the button up you've got on in this vid? Looks great, keep it up man!
Real McCoys and black sign do buy with some much more expensive products. Buzz rickson also does with a focus on militaria in a more middle of the road price range
I was looking into this jacket. I’m around 175-180 and 5’11. Would you recommend a 40 or 42. I probably will wear a t shirt under it like a normal denim jacket.
@@calebgasca sorry mine is M/38, but I recommend edwin-mall japan. They have new lined stormriders from Lee at around 150 usd. They have a boxy cut, unlike the italian stormriders that are really expensive and really long.
It’s disappointing, many classic brands choose to push out one contemporary remake after another instead of delivering what made people fall in love with their product to begin with
When a USA/japanese brand decides to make a repro of a Stormrider with a 25 inch back measurement I’d be happy to. There I haven’t seen a short in the body repro of a corduroy collar, blanket lined Stormrider besides this one.
I have, but the same issue exists with vintage ones. They are not short enough in the body. I also prefer to wear and fade my items myself. That’s part of the enjoyment of this hobby for me. I don’t get a lot of enjoyment out of wearing a piece that was faded by someone else. This is not the perfect or ideal jacket necessarily, but it is the best one on the market that meets all that needs.

Yeah for the price the lining shouldn’t really be an issue. Tbh it’s not bad enough for me to want a new jacket.
You should try on the pieces you review to see how it fits.
Yes I agree I am planning on making some outfit videos coming up!

It’s LL bean shirt I believe it’s just made of polyester
man i love bronson mfg, does anyone know any brands that simulate the old 50s, 60s type of wear in the same way as bronson?

I’d say it depends on how broad your shoulders are. If you like shirts under 19 inches I’d do a forty. If bigger then a 42
Great jacket! Also love the shirt, where is it from?
Thanks it’s a LL bean Allahagash shirt
Love the jacket! Maybe it’s time for me to get one?!
Hmm that’s a good idea!
3 years ago Bronson had one that was better (80% wool blanket, with almost the original pattern).
Dang I would have love to get my hands on that!
@@calebgascaI have one, what is your size?
42 or 44

Unfortunately these brands don't remember their own tradition.

Why u getting the Chinese stuff? Get the USA/Japan stuff
