Great step by step tutorial, thanks for sharing. That’s exactly how I do it, except I put a bit of dielectric grease on the bare wire before I put it in the butt connector. With the grease and the shrink it’s just that much more insurance against corrosion.
Rare to see a big light, it's usually a bullet like the marker light. Which is why I'm here. Normally it's an easy change out but my light was broke off and is now inside the frame and these wires you can't get to from underneath. If I had a way to get a hook or pliers around it I could pull it out or cement to grab it. My tool box didn't even have a screw driver to pop it out.
My semi truck lights don’t come on unless I plug into a trailer. As soon as i unplug the lights come off and only work when I apply the brakes or turn signals. Any idea

Great advice....corrosion is the guilty party 50% of the time.
Install another heat shrink tube over the butt connector splice . Great Video !

I have yet to see one of them heat shrink butt connectors not get corrosion inside. They all fail at some point. There has to be a better solution

Im doing the same thing for my 1 ton dump truck so i wired everything up and everything works just when i put the turn signals on the hazards come on

Thats just a mini torch sold at most truck stops but the igniter is what I didn't see used to start it.
