That the film works so well is a testament to Schumacher’s pop sensibilities, his slick production design and an iconic soundtrack - Echo & the Bunnymen’s version of People Are Strange is a majestic way to begin a movie.

I saw this as a teen in the theater. I was so obsessed I bought a poster, t shirt, the soundtrack (on vinyl) and the book novelization. Total classic and one of my favorite vampire movies of all time. Super cheesy but that’s the 80s for you!
Another great Joel Schumacher film from the same era is Flatliners- the original version.

"It was all going to be so perfect, Lucy. Just like one big, happy family. Your boys... and my boys."
This movie is a Peter Pan allegory. Max is Peter Pan, Lucy is Wendy, Michael/Sam are Wendy's brothers, the Frog Brothers are Captain Hook/Mr. Smee, and Star is Tinkerbell or Tiger Lily. Once you pick up on the allegory, it becomes a totally different movie. There's been sequels and a remake, but they never understood this concept and just became stupid vampire movies.
Fun Fact: This was Corey Haim and Corey Feldman's first film together, which marked the start of a popular "The Two Coreys" trend in which Feldman and Haim starred together in a number of teenage films.
Fire Stunt Fact: In the chaotic dinner scene, Alan Frog puts out candles with his fingers. Nobody told Jamison Newlander that he had to wet his fingers first, so he ended up getting burnt. In later takes, he dipped his hands in a basin of water before putting out the candles.
Tourist Attraction Fact: Two men can be seen playing pinball the second time Sam visits the comic shop. The guy with the facial hair is Joe Ferrara II, who actually owned the comic shop Atlantis Fantasyworld. The comic shop has now moved location but is still owned by Joe. The new location of the Atlantis Fantasyworld comic book store, which was featured in the film, still carries the original #1 issue of 'Vampires Everywhere' that Sam reads in the film. The comic was created only for the film, and its opening page is signed by all of the cast members from the movie. The owner Joe Ferrara II allows any shopper to hold it and take a photo with it free of charge.

In the novel "The Lost Boys" it ends with them hearing howls in the night, grandpa admitting that the tunnels and caves continued for miles in that area, and them speculating that there were a lot more vampires in the area.
Fan theory suggests that grandpa is in fact a half vampire from another master vampire (that is how he knows about additional vampires in the area as mentioned in the novel). The root beer bottles contain animal blood that he drinks to feed his hunger (and why he doesn't want anyone else to drink from the "old fart" shelf in the refrigerator). He uses his taxidermy as a cover to explain why he has so many dead animals at his house.
Part 2 isn't worth watching, but part 3 isn't too bad and ties up the loose ends of what happens to everybody after part 1 ends.

A fun easter egg in Jordan Peele's Us is in the opening scene at the boardwalk, they make reference to a movie being filmed there, that movie being The Lost Boys. Fun reaction! the kids can do something about it. Through overcoming the challenge, the kids go through some form of personal growth.

This has usually been one of my fave Vampire films, I was about 25 when it came out. Not sure if you noticed but that poster in the big broken down cave of Jim Morrison I think was put there for ppl to notice just how much actor- Jason Patric looks like him. And actually I found out later he was first in line to play him in The Doors movie but something came up and Val Kilmer got that role. Anyways, JP was quite the hottie back then and still looks good from what I remember. This movie is pretty cheesy in some ways but fun. One of my very favorite parts is when Sam is taking his bath and Nannuk gets ready to protect him. Great dog!❤ And handsome Malamute! One last FYI- The very buff dude with the Sax, he worked for Tina Turner back then.

It was also a standard of 80's horror movies where you did not see the villain of the film till at least a half hour in. Movies like Jaws and Predator also did that in those movies too.

One of my favorite movies for many reasons, I share names with both main characters since my first name is Michael and my middle name is David, and I’m a big Two Corey’s fan of Corey Feldman and Corey Haim, and I love the concept of the vampires being The Lost Boys which is a reference to Peter Pan, and them being punk metalhead bikers

Regarding the ratings, the reverse is true with PG movies. Before PG-13 existed, some PG movies from the early eighties went MUCH harder than current PG films.

This movie is great because it was the first time vampires were seen like this. You know, sexy, cool and fun, also not your usual run-of-the-mill vampire slayers. It pretty much help set the tone for what we love about vampires now.

“Hayden Christian’s” name is Jason Patrick. Kiefer Sutherland was engaged to Julia Roberts and best buds with Jason. Julia ditched Kiefer at the altar and ran off with Jason. It was quite the gossip back then. The fellas are friends again now. Just some pointless info for ya.

I love this movie so much despite it's campy nature. The actor of Max passed away in 2014 so seeing him here is slightly sad now. I love the music in this one and for the record I am a child of the 80's and I am not 40 yet haha. It is interesting to see where they took the vampire lore in this one and by the way this is an 80's movie so you should not be surprised about the full on sex scene cause back then they had them a lot in movies.

"Cool" is such a hard target for a horror movie to hit, and this hits bulls-eye. Others are scary, or funny, or fun, or intriguing, but this is _cool_ . Off the top of my head, the only other example I can think of is Freddy 3. I love the Frog Brothers' amateur pontificating, which they get away with only because the people around them know even less.
