When I was in highschool, This was my first longboard I bought. I got one red fox SWITCH 40. Man I loved that Board so much. Me and that board had so many memories. I learned my first stand up slides. and the SPEED! OMG I loved that Board than any other and I never liked riding any other board than THE SWITCH 40.Sadly someone stole it from my front yard. 5 to 6 years later, I'm looking for this board online so I can buy it. Thanks landyatchz
@GrandmasGrundle I would recommend trying to find a shop or friend with these boards to try out first as it is largely dependent on personal preference but if I had to recommend one, I would say go for the spud. It's got a smaller wheelbase and as such would be more nimble in crowds.
Guys i got my switch amazing board to say the least. Im very impressed with the trucks with the standard bushings idk what they are lime green somethings they are super carvy and responsive for cruising but flip your hangar and tighten a bit and i was hitting 40 with no problems at all overall amazing trucks thats what im most impressed with. Keep up the Good work LY Team
I just got a switch with Bear 852's a couple weeks ago. Finding the sweet spot for foot placement took a while, but once I found it, my board was super stable. You won't get a lot of carve out of it, even with the 52's. I guess that's the price you pay for such great stability. Phillip seems like he's getting a lot more carve than I do, so it may be all down to bushing selection. In summary, I love this deck, but it isn't exactly a jack-of-all-trades.
My PERSONAL (emphasis here) method for staying stable down a hill is the same as in snowboarding. Keep a little weight either heelside or toeside just to take the dead-space out of the trucks. If you're concerned about mid-hill speed checks, it still feels super stable while you drop down to throw a quick Coleman or something. If you don't know how, or don't feel confident throwing speedchecks, learn. The Switch is great for them and they're a lifesaver.
I watched this video and went to early grab a ledge just like the one in this video, and I ate it just like Philip did... I blame you... lol nice riding.
Philip, you a re my best friend now. haha. i have a Landy switch with purple stims and randall 2 180s and reds, it is my favorite freeride board ever, and i can do some fairly sweet dh on it
@arebeast DH, its the only thing you can use it for. You don't really stand up slide other than speed checks cause you can't ride switch, and it drifts nicely around corners cause of the de-wedge. People will say its "stable" but one boards not more "stable" than another. Its the rider that matters.
hey does the bottom of the switch longboard hit speed bumps?? do u have to jump over them or is it better to get a higher decked board?? (please inbox the response)
hey Phill Ima beginner longboarder and a college student and was wonderiign what you would recommend the landyachtz Spud or the Switch. I weigh 115 5' 8" but im just wondering which board will allow me to carve, have control, and maneuver around slow walking crowds of students
I want to be Philip when I grow up! Btw Rerurn of the ninja droids is the best song ever. I've listened to it at least 200,000,000,000,000,000 times this year.
Still watching this classic! Make sure you check out the sequel

R.I.P the drop deck era

The switch is discontinued

@FRIEDmason, a small chip isn't that big of a deal but if you want to seal it up, shoe goo or hockey tape works really well.
