They sang that well with those stupid little microphones and no auto tune. Bobby and Bill both had their own gifts which is why they made albums together and apart. They were my magic together. Bobby is still missed and Bill is still here. Thank you.
I've always said that if you have talent, nothing else is necessary, except some listening ears. These guys were good whether anyone listened or not. Their talent spoke for itself
@@serafyo yes. Except talent is not enough. It’s supposed to be a show biz secret, but, in addition to talent they have many hours of practice over time, learning their skills, and paying dues. It’s not an overnight miracle. It never is no matter what “they” say.
This song was written by Rogers and Hammerstein for the Broadway musical Carousel and is the show stopping number. Has been covered countless times and often performed for strength and encouragement in times of trial and sorrow. Just knew Bobby's high tenor would hit that note, but completely agree that Bill''s deep baritone gives the song its soul.
Just about the year they performed this, I was in a high school production of Carousel. Everyone in the cast just fell apart every time this song was sung. Show stopper for real.
They're like Lays Potato Chips. When they sing together it's hard to just pick one favorite because they were both so dynamic. Probably the best Bass Baritone ever and the best Counter Tenor Ever. Bill Medley's voice is so powerful and Bobby Hatfield's is so Angelic in many of their duets. Then there are the humorous and the more lively performances on Shindig that you haven't gotten to yet. Picture quality not as good but those are the gems, in my opinion, with the Shindig Show's own band, backup singers and Shindig Dancers cutting loose and the girls in the audience going crazy for them. Thank you for your wonderful reactions to these legendary performers.
Such an AMAZING song, and they absolutely created MAGIC! THE HARMONY, AND THOSE SPLENDID BLENDS make the other split notes just Pop! Thank you for sharing this with us 😊💖🤟🤗🌹🍀🦓
You are one of the first reactions I have this phone many years that recognize the countertenor and Bobby Hatfield. A few others have, but most of them say well his falsetto. And he’s not falsetto. He has such a range of notes. If you heard him sing, unchained Melody, the last for note on the Andy Williams show went off the piano.
Wonderful.nyo hear voices from my Era where they sang with no technical crap..just pure talent which we have never seen since. Rock on Brothers and RIP Bobby..one of best musical talents of our time❤❤
The year I was born 1965 but that is the first time I've heard that version of a fantastic song, absolutely mind blown, I grew up listening to Gerry and the Pacemakers(UK) version, new subscriber to your channel from 🇬🇧
I was blessed to be in grade school during this time. My family never missed the Ed Sullivan Show, so I witnessed many, many fantastic artists perform without all the electronic enhancements common today. Just pure talent.
I remember that performance. The Ed Sullivan show was a show the whole family gathered to watch. Their voices silenced and stilled this hyper-active 5 year old.
Them hitting those high notes gave me the chills ...grew up with and Ed Sullivan Thanks for playing awesome music when people sang with artificial stuff!
from an early or mid 20th century broadway production when the male lead dies, sometimes used as a religious song, re-recorded by the british group gary and the pacemakers who made it the official song of a uk soccar club, often played by various uk clubs and because of that known all over europe where soccar is played, and played following the biggest ever disaster at a soccar game in the uk where many in rhe audience were killed, thus making it a song sometimes played in memorium of that occasion
Bill is still singing in Vegas! Please, please listen to Janis Joplin at the Monterey Pop Festival. “Piece of My Heart. As has been said, “She came in as a nobody, and left as a star. You see that the audience is stunned, stunned! and it’s super live! Janis single-handedly moved the nation into a new decade. Brilliant, naive, vulnerable, passionate: Janis. She died of a heroin overdose at 27, just as Jimi Hendrix and many others. America lost a lot, but they changed music; that’s their legacy. Thanks.
This song was written for a musical, Carousel. It was a beautiful movie and every song in that movie was perfect for the story. When they had the 24 hour telethon every Labor Day to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Jerry Lewis was the host and he chose this song to sing at the end of the telethon to give them strength and hope that one day there would be a cure for neuromuscular diseases.. The telethon ran from 1951-2011.
Incredible. Right! My family & I watched Ed Sullivan every week that showcased such great talent. I am thrilled you are enjoying these oldies but goodies!
Love the Righteous Brothers and this song. Jerry Lewis would sing this song every year on his MDA Fundraiser Marathon and always cried before he finished it. ❤❤
I have a few more songs for you, Bobby- Summertime,(phenomenal) and his version of Cryin in the chapel. Both of them together, a fun one Little Latin Lupe Lu on shindig. Another one I think is really fun is I need your Lovin everyday from Shindig. Bill by himself, Georgia is good Oh have you listen to them sing Soul and Inspiration yet. That's good. From this same show, Yes , Indeed with Peggy Lee, and another song from the Andy Williams show, It's alright with Andy Williams.

This song was the March of Dimes "Theme Song" back in the 50's and 60's as they fought to wipe out Polio/Childhood Paralysis. My dad came down w/Polio on his 21st birthday. It took him 6 mos. to move 2 fingers on his right hand and he thought he'd never marry/have a family. Then he met my mother and this was their song. They're both gone now and I cry every time I hear it.
And that piano, though!! Bill's voice vibrating your bones, Bobby, not a note neglected or left behind ... it all just gels into pure perfection ...and the respectful deep bows at the end. You don't see that now, respecting the audience for listening.
Thank you for mentioning their respectful deep bows, which I always love. They always finished with them, even in the numbers where they were playing around on the great Shindig. They're especially gracious in this professional performance of this spiritual song. 💜
"You'll Never Walk Alone" lyrics and music was written by Rogers and Hammerstein (google them) for their 1956 movie musical "Carousel" starring Shirley Jones (Partridge Family sitcom fame) and Gordon McCrae.
The greatest song ever linked to a sports community. Elvis and a dozen others have recorded this. But NOTHING can match the LFC fans singing this as one. It’ll shake you to your core.
Great reaction. Anyway, can i request your reaction to superb band from japan? The band is call "Lovebites" They all The Beautiful Queens Metal band right now in the earth. They are really really World class musicians. Phenomenal. And they have a lot die hard fans too. The song is "The Hammer of Wrath" Hope you check out, and can enjoy it too. Big thanks🙏
Honestly you need to listen to their Soul and Inspiraton song, I couldnt find a reaction to this from you..Soul and Inspiration is my fav song of theirs, live is best
They have been friends of mine since 1962...bobbie passed away right before a concert...we miss him! Bill is still going ...he has a new partner buckey
You should react to Josh Groban especially live videos of him!! He covers this song but has tons of other amazing songs!! He sings Believe on Polar Express and has one of the best Christmas albums ever, in my opinion. His voice is hard to explain because it’s that good!! He has duets with Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles (sugarland), and even Faith Hill along with many others, yet he is still underrated, in my opinion. 😃
This was uploaded a week ago, I thought you might like to watch it even if you don't react to it. It's the Righteous Brothers hosting the Midnight Special from 1974. They broke up in 1968 so this is their first concert like performances since they got back together. It's fantastic. Bill was having some voice trouble during this time so Bobby took up the slack and boy did he shine. ua-cam.com/video/1FLOGNry03c/v-deo.htmlsi=qromzl7F438STPsr
Elvis also does this song great also , only problem audio only no video if you decide to do pick the one with the most hits also Elvis will say something before he sings , if you picked the right one
OMG, How beautiful, incredibly heavenly.
They sang that well with those stupid little microphones and no auto tune. Bobby and Bill both had their own gifts which is why they made albums together and apart. They were my magic together. Bobby is still missed and Bill is still here. Thank you.
True....this was pure talent!
Good point. I have a antique microphone collection and those old mics are quite limited when compared to what we use today.
@karenstrong. Microphones cant be stupid, only people who think they can be stupid are

No autotune. Hand-held mics. *_THIS_* is music!!!
Bill Medley had such a beautiful deep baritone voice and Bobby Hatfield's tenor voice was like a gift from the angels.

Which leads to Bill’s “I Just Wanna Make Love To You. (Best when heard with a lover.)
Mark Knoffler covers this with his guitar

So beautiful! Rarely heard , im afraid. Thank you for pulling this beautiful song to the forefront.
This was sung at my high school commencement ceremony. I too miss Jerry Lewis singing this at the end of his MDA Telethon, every Labor Day.
I’ve always loved this song! I sang it with my HS glee club in concert in the 60s. It always bring tears to my eyes.

It’s a gorgeous song, one of my favorites
This is the anthem for Liverpool football club in England, to hear them sing in the terraces s amazing.
As sung by Gerry and the Pacemakers in the 60's
@@gillharvey8136 I love Gerry and the pacemakers xx
This song was played at my dad's funeral. This got the waterworks flowing.... damn onion cutting ninjas.
Amazing .. made me cry ...Bobby left us too soon

You have reacted to my very favorite duo from the early days of the 60s. Had their albums.

Love the Righteous Brothers and this song. Jerry Lewis would sing this song every year on his MDA Fundraiser Marathon and always cried before he finished it. ❤❤
I miss that so much.
I really miss Jerry and his "kids"
Tears Sebs. I chose Elvis's version of that song for my mom's funeral. She was an Elvis fan.
This was our class song at our graduation back in 1977❤
Love them. Thanks!
great reaction! You also need to add Roy Clark (Malaguena) to your queue. He's an amazing guitarist - this time in flamenco style
I love your videos! You are so much fun! I love the way you react to the music I grew up with! Isn't it amazing?
