"Have you ever had the feeling of a sorrow inside? Have you ever been the reason why a hope subsides? Have you ever seen the aftermath of giving up?" fucking incredible
I love the theatrical feel to this. and Mikael's voice is flawless as always. this album needs another chance from people, it's really great and grew on me so much recently. I hope Opeth contiues with this great prog rock/metal atmosphere, suits them really nicely!
My boyfriend has just broken up with me, and I feel every word in this song so deeply and painfully that I can't even cry. Opeth, I love you, you speak for my soul.
LYRICS The mist is sleeping on the water And winter is hiding in my heart Thorns in my eyes are slowing me down I can't pass through to the other side She knows I'm the one who sought her But when we fall, we'll fall so hard She holds a secret and won't show me how How to break the riddle in her eyes This is treason of the mind and soul Death is no reason why you would go Inside the ghost of love is laughing It mocks the footsteps where I go It tells me nothing has been lost It whispers: "you've seen darkness before" In time the hurting will subside And longing is overthrown What's left is a void that grows inside And the echo of a failure This is treason of the mind and soul Death is no reason why you would go Have you ever had the feeling of a sorrow inside? Have you ever been the reason why a hope subsides? Have you ever seen the aftermath of giving up? Have we given up? Is it over? Have you given up? Is winter hiding in your heart?
I agree! Oh but then there's Eternal Rains too...ya know what you're right, it's too hard to choose, just love the album! Was lucky to see them live a few weeks ago too, for the second time! ☺️ \m/
Lately I was on their show. Their performance is excellent, I must say. Very precise timig, huge dynamics and great sound. Even in the loudest moments quite transparent. Although I am usually not too much into death metal, I have to say I like their dark side too. For me they are a kind of bridge builders between musical styles and door openers, if you want...
I believe Axe is a great drummer! Lopez was great to, so was Nordin. All three had their influence to the melodies. However, I frimly beleive, that Axe, fits the feeling Michael is trying to paint in Opeth's music. There is a passion, a exclamation, in Axe's drumming that neither Lopez nor Nordin ever emulated. I've been listening to Opeth since Morningrise. The only album I thought was subpar was Heritage. But I forgive this, since I know Michael was searching, experimenting with his vision. Axe most certainly compliments Michael's feelings in his words, his melodies. Axe is the essence in beat to Michaels words of feeling and intensity. I hope Axe stays around a long time to come. Because their chemistry is superb. However, who I really do miss, is Peter Lindgren. What beautiful harmonies He and Michael developed. Lindgren to was an echo of Michaels passion in melody. As an old school Opeth fan, this is what I feel. Great Track, Great Album!
Later Opeth has many moments like 5:59 where it climbs and climbs and the release is incredible. Look at All things shall pass and Fleeting Glance as examples. The talent and ability of Mikael to invoke emotion is second to none in the progressive scene.
It took me a while to get into Pale Communion and while I still wouldn't put it at the top of their albums, it's a really excellent album. Thoroughly enjoy it.
I started recently to listen to Opeth, so I cannot say much about what they have done so far. However, I like this album. It's got lots of musical ideas, very melodic, interesting arrangements and great keyboard tracks. Still everything fits together as one piece and goes very well with the vocals and lyrics. Great job. I really enjoy. Looking forward to their live performance
shit this is awesome, you guys have a style that no one other band I've listened too has, seriously you're awesome Opeth. I know there's very high chances that my comment won't actually be seen by the band-members bu who cares, you make awesome music and that's what counts! Rock on \m/
Every song is so powerful it brushes my soul and leaves me horrified is it even possible my god what music . This music is ghost , this music is hoax , this music is everything one can never hope . They are a gift to all of us .
I've been a fan of Opeth since 2008 and I feel like I'm one of the few who really enjoyed Heritage, that being said this album might take some time to grow on me (hell, I wasn't into Ghost Reveries intiailly), but 5:56 to 6:36 is probably my favorite individual section of a song since the ending of Heir Apparent, just... beautiful
What an amazing album! I would like t see Opeth in Portugal in 2014, Mikael said in Vagos Open Air, that they would come here to promote the new album and by the schedule i saw in the official page that is not going to happen.
I am late to the party, but I am really digging this band. I'm not much for the 'growling' vocals, but that's just me. I like their early stuff, but this album is just wow.
what is the problem with you people this album is f****** genius more so than heritage can't anyone appreciate the fact that they're growing they can do anything they want it sounds incredible appreciate it people its 2014
This album is my absolute favourite. The only problem with it is that i got frustrated by the lack of deathgrowls. That color is missing and becouse of that the whole album is slightly desaturated.
+Louis C.K hahah fuck i thought this was the real louis for a sec and i got excited at the fact that he would listen to opeth, but thats thinking too hopeful
Gave this album another shot, and yet not sold. Simply not my taste, but goddamn Opeth got mad skills. Would never say Opeth sounds like shit these days because they dont. I miss old Opeth, many does, but you gotta see it for what it is. Opeth does exactly what they want, and they do it good, no matter if its a genre for you or not. It might grow on me, who knows. I'll be back, lol
"Have you ever had the feeling of a sorrow inside?
Have you ever been the reason why a hope subsides?
Have you ever seen the aftermath of giving up?"
fucking incredible
I'm glad you find that bit also so man. The whole song is wonder, and that just tops it off magnificently.
Beautiful.
Fucking lame, emo Åkerfeldt.
Nah.
Your God Wilfred But the new Opeth is boring apparently according to the metal heads lol so that can't be a powerful moment
Meshuggapeth According to *some*. There's still a lot of people like me that are as obsessed with the new albums as they are woth the old ones...
I love the theatrical feel to this. and Mikael's voice is flawless as always.
this album needs another chance from people, it's really great and grew on me so much recently.
I hope Opeth contiues with this great prog rock/metal atmosphere, suits them really nicely!
this is, without a doubt, top-5 opeth album. This and in cauda are excellent throughout and poignant as fuck
Axe's drumming is really the meat of this song. The double bass at 5:52 is just perfect!
Open your fucking ears! The whole album is a masterpiece!
My boyfriend has just broken up with me, and I feel every word in this song so deeply and painfully that I can't even cry. Opeth, I love you, you speak for my soul.
Thanks. It actually got better. But my love to Opeth won't change :)
Opeth, leading us through the dark nights of life :D
TheYondaime008 Yeah, they are the guidance and the light :)
one lost ten found
dang, it took you less then a month to find some peace.. i'm still reeling from last year, how retarded is that?
Opeth should do the theme to the next James Bond movie.
LYRICS
The mist is sleeping on the water
And winter is hiding in my heart
Thorns in my eyes are slowing me down
I can't pass through to the other side
She knows I'm the one who sought her
But when we fall, we'll fall so hard
She holds a secret and won't show me how
How to break the riddle in her eyes
This is treason of the mind and soul
Death is no reason why you would go
Inside the ghost of love is laughing
It mocks the footsteps where I go
It tells me nothing has been lost
It whispers: "you've seen darkness before"
In time the hurting will subside
And longing is overthrown
What's left is a void that grows inside
And the echo of a failure
This is treason of the mind and soul
Death is no reason why you would go
Have you ever had the feeling of a sorrow inside?
Have you ever been the reason why a hope subsides?
Have you ever seen the aftermath of giving up?
Have we given up?
Is it over?
Have you given up?
Is winter hiding in your heart?
2:57
Probably my favorite song on the album... other than possibly Moon Above, Sun Below. It's hard to say though; the album is a masterpiece.
I freaking love moon above, sun below! I like the changing textures throughout the song.
I have to agree it is a masterpiece. I love all Opeth old and new. In concert they are fucking amazing...that is all....
I agree! Oh but then there's Eternal Rains too...ya know what you're right, it's too hard to choose, just love the album! Was lucky to see them live a few weeks ago too, for the second time! ☺️ \m/
"Have you ever seen the aftermath of giving up?"
Is winter hiding in your heart?
That last chord is so good.
This music sounds so natural like it was meant to be here along with the autumn treetops and the whispering winds of earth thank you mikael
Does anyone else get a little bit of a Kashmir vibe from this? One of my favorites off the new album.
Me
Pretty sure it's the violin rythim, acurate
also the mountains!
Fantastic, I love his clean vocals, he has a fantastic voice!
The visuals are beautiful
Demonic.
I think this will go down as one of Opeth's best songs. Say what you will about the rest of the album, but this song is untouchable.
the last section of the song is beautiful music! This song and Faith in Others are the highlights of this album
5:56 - 6:40 ...enough said
my fav part by far
Epic part! I love it.
They played it live with an orchestra at the concert last month. It was awesome.
Ascid Bacon And it was the premiere of the song!

I've always liked the way Axe uses the snare to accent more than the kick. His drumming does suit the "new" Opeth well.
Later Opeth has many moments like 5:59 where it climbs and climbs and the release is incredible. Look at All things shall pass and Fleeting Glance as examples. The talent and ability of Mikael to invoke emotion is second to none in the progressive scene.
from 6:00 on is what I’m living for.
6:00 - they're firing on all 8, whilst Åkerfeldt breaks glass with his voice!!
I love Opeths death metal and psychedelic rock era. Who needs to write the same music their whole life??? Sounds great guys!
It took me a while to get into Pale Communion and while I still wouldn't put it at the top of their albums, it's a really excellent album. Thoroughly enjoy it.

I saw your comment and it's spot on mate
Every song is so powerful it brushes my soul and leaves me horrified is it even possible my god what music . This music is ghost , this music is hoax , this music is everything one can never hope . They are a gift to all of us .
Wish everyone could perceive them that way.
Great Song, Great Album.
Was introduced to Opeth for the first time in 2014. Just amazing. ❤❤
great vocals on this !!
You didnt listen to Heritage or what ?
This is my life right now.
:(
This is my life pretty much permanently (shrugs)
The drum line is amazing!
Love this track, likely my favorite from Pale Communion.
This song is such mysterious I love it.
Okay, it's finally growing on me. Just had to give this one time.
I've been a fan of Opeth since 2008 and I feel like I'm one of the few who really enjoyed Heritage, that being said this album might take some time to grow on me (hell, I wasn't into Ghost Reveries intiailly), but 5:56 to 6:36 is probably my favorite individual section of a song since the ending of Heir Apparent, just... beautiful
6:00 - vinegar stroke moment! Perfection
A M should check out moon above, sun below by opeth
Stop this, Opeth. You're breaking my heart!
This is what I would like to see and hear when I pass
winter is coming
That last minute of the song is just something else.
6:45 - 7:11, I feel like there's potential for an entire song out of that bit. That sounds so fucking amazing.
+Joseph Griffin this is the amazing side of prog rock. Some other band could make an album with working on just one song lol.
This is a very interesting sound, from -probably- the most interesting artist of our generation.
This song makes me think. Satisfys the soul.
This sounds insane to say but this could be their most sophisticated outro. These dudes are aliens.
Damn, this track is sick.
i love Pale Communion and this might be my favorite track on the album
"This is treason, of the mind and soul!!!"
Blackwater Park...
Ghost Reveries...
Damnation...
This is my favorite Opeth.
Masterpiece‼
Outstanding 😍🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
What an amazing album!
I would like t see Opeth in Portugal in 2014, Mikael said in Vagos Open Air, that they would come here to promote the new album and by the schedule i saw in the official page that is not going to happen.
Axe's performance is the best thing about this album
(insert comment about old Opeth here) - literally every opeth video
Perfect!
That's some James Bond golden shit from Opeth right here
A masterpiece!
just saw it, its beautiful!
love when they did this live with the orchestra
Best build up I've ever heard!
Feels like James Bond' 007 movie , theme song ...
3:11 omfg that sounds perfect
opeth is " new mozart !!! but in rock progressive way greating to opeth fans i love u
Come sempre perfetti e difficilmente insuperabili
5:58 gives me goosebumps. Well played, Opeth.
The moment at 5:58 is what makes the song. Opeth have way more epic songs than this though.
I am late to the party, but I am really digging this band. I'm not much for the 'growling' vocals, but that's just me. I like their early stuff, but this album is just wow.
Ein Meisterwerk!
...have you ever
had a feeling
of the sorrow
inside...
what is the problem with you people this album is f****** genius more so than heritage can't anyone appreciate the fact that they're growing they can do anything they want it sounds incredible appreciate it people its 2014
'Voice of Treason' really ought to be a Bond movie theme song...
It's too good for bond
I still haven´t digested the beginning of this song... but 6:00 - 6:30 is just out-fucking-standing
loooove, i love this song
I die at 6:00
4:46 i can see the Cell from Dbz
Wait for it. Wait for it! WAIT FOR IT! You made it 6:00 immerse yourself in it
This song is very deep, difficult to access. An excellent piece of prog music, like the rest of the album !
Genius !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! masterpiece !!!!!!!
This album is my absolute favourite. The only problem with it is that i got frustrated by the lack of deathgrowls. That color is missing and becouse of that the whole album is slightly desaturated.
what a great CD¡¡¡
💘OPETH!💘
Love it!
ESPETACULAR..
That last verse cuts through ya
Its still metal as fuck...? Hey if Dio singing about rainbows is metal, this is metal as fuck.
great album
@5:59 this part is taken from a song called "Experience of Love" by Life ua-cam.com/video/getMaC01eb4/v-deo.html
Wow. Nice catch! How did you find this? :O
Super interesting
This song reminds me a little bit of Smaller And Smaller by Faith No More.
Love you
What can I say? Amazing as ever
Love it !
+Louis C.K hahah fuck i thought this was the real louis for a sec and i got excited at the fact that he would listen to opeth, but thats thinking too hopeful
Mohankeneh i am
Can you do the full album with the visuals plz!
Good stuff.
