These devices are very good for people with limited mobility who cannot stand at a stove and cook in a conventional way. Have shown my patients with limitations the smaller waffle maker, egg steamer, Geo. Foreman grills, and the breakfast sandwich maker. One or more of these devices have improved their quality of life.

They will be bought up by special needs catalogs and this $40 item will become $120. They sell old stock push button microwaves from the 80s and 90s for hundreds. Ones that were originally $59 at Walmart. And they stand behind nothing they sell. Watches that last two weeks…too bad for you.

I can definitely see the merit of a gadget like this. I often have a single egg with a meal. It's all about attention span. It's easy to cook an egg but you've got to watch it the whole time and possibly flip it. To just not be able to think freeze you up to prepare other food items. I use a mini frying pan and a lid but you have to watch it that whole time.

Unless you let the unit cool down to the same temp between uses, the extra heat to start with may be making the difference in how well it works.
The price - puts it outside what I'm willing to pay. I've already got a microwave, so I got some microwave egg cookers that were $6 each and they let me select how well done the eggs are by the timer and power setting on the microwave. If I want poached eggs, I put a little water in the bottom and if I want fried eggs I put a little oil in the bottom. They turn out just right every time. And they're dishwasher safe.
    Almost forgot - Great channel!

If it could do two sunny side/over easy eggs at the same time maybe, but it's rare that I only cook a single egg. Seems easier to just toss a couple eggs in a warm pan and turn it off with a lid over it or something if you really want to be able to walk away. With a few more customizable options though, this could be really useful for a lot of people. Maybe they could make a double unit or something with a few more options. I'm also curious how much egg size changes the results.

Edit: After watching this I got it. Here's my observations:
    PREHEAT IT!
I usually let it run a cycle on setting 3, then after that, sunny side up makes the perfect dipping eggs every time. Usually I can get 2 done by the time the toast is up and ready to be done. Requires very little cleanup, and takes up very little space so when I get home from work, I can make a quick 2 eggs and toast without any hassle and enjoy the rest of my free time before bed. No pans, no messy butter, no dishes, no fuss. Worth it to me.
I just use canola oil nonstick spray, small spurt to each side. I also do like the indent that keeps the yolk in the center.
Original Comment: I like this. Much cleaner than microwaving an egg in a ceramic mug which is what I do when I need a quick egg made.

My Dash grill (at less than a third of the cost) does a great job on eggs and is easy to monitor the progress but can only do one at a time. That last attempt at the sunny side up setting was exactly how I like my eggs. I would've liked to see two eggs at a lower setting so the yolks stay runny.

For a single person or maybe a couple who are on the go alone this would be nice. Or better yet college dorm this would be a good thing for quick egg sandwiches.
My son loves eggs and he had me teach him how to cook all his favorite things with eggs.
He would have a fried egg sandwich for every meal and not bother him a bit lol.
I do wonder if you sprinkled bacon bits or a few slices of ham under the egg if it would mess up the timing bit it could be useful in certain situations.
Oh another good idea. It could easily be packed in suitcase for folks who have to work away from home.
My hubby occasionally has to go out of state for a good 7 to 10 days for installation of their big relay boxes or to troubleshoot problem installation.
He often complained about the hotel breakfast.
Most times there is a microwave and fridge in the room and something like this might come in handy.
I bet you could cook a veggie burger or frozen burger in there too if you had to . Just a few ideas 💡

I think true sunny side up is somewhere between the first and the second attempt.
The yoke has to shine through bright orange/yellow like the sun.
The second one had the yoke muted too much. The first attempt hat too much of the white stuff uncooked still.

This might be a good product for me. In my house (5 people) it can be hard to find the right pan and lid when I want to make an egg or two and I would eat more eggs if it were simple like this. It probably would have been better to just have a strait adjustable timer so you could just make it what you want. Like eggs can cook differently if they are small, large or extra large so in my case I buy extra large eggs and after a few uses (timed) I would know the perfect setting and would likely write it on the unit with a silver sharpe.

As you pointed out, one is stuck with their settings. One work-around would be to vary the temperature of the eggs: right out of the refrigerator, the eggs might be less cooked than at room temperature. Another way to have them be more runny eggs is to let the uncracked eggs pre-soak in water for 1 hour so they are rehydrated to the fullest.

For the first setting, I would've let the egg sit for another minute before removing it from the unit, if it was cold when you plopped your sunny side up egg into it. The residual heat of the unit should've finished cooking the egg whites. Did the instructions say anything about the size of egg to use, there's a significant difference between Large, Extra-Large, and Jumbo eggs.
