    It's nice to see that despite his disposition, Erik knew how to value those who were close to him, along with those who worked for him and were loyal to him.

      I am also. It's not always a pleasant thing. I inherited the overactive adrenal glands also, heart pounding in my chest, blood singing in my veins which sometimes led to trouble. I also clot so hard and fast that the only thing stopping me from stroking out is how acid my body chemistry is. Luckily I inherited the native intelligence also. Conoco Phillips Continental Resources SM Energy and others, 500 Billion dollars (at the time) worth of oil companies, tried to steal my land while I was recovering from having lost everything else due to having broken my back. It took 9 years and teaching myself law to win. My sister in law who fed and housed me for 6 years while I recovered said they never had a chance. Everyone said if you win, it will just be a money award, you can't make a train back up. The train backed up. I recovered my land and my brothers land. Getting up in years now, it's like my adrenal glands are worn out. I suffer now from low blood pressure 90/60. I was in a room where a 6 inch pipe burst and I walked to the valve and shut it off. As I was walking away someone asked me where I was going? I said to lunch. They said, This is an emergency! I replied that this isn't an emergency, I've seen an emergency before and it looked nothing like this, and I walked away. People think I'm joking when I tell them I was raised by wolves. Erik got a bad rap. It's just that Erik, like his father Thorvald didn't stop fighting until things were settled. I doubt either one started the blows, but they weren't inclined to stop until things were settled permanently.

      wow all those Americans (I guess you are American) on social media being related to famous Vikings , as a Scandinavian I never in my life meet a Scandinavian who claimed being related to any famous Viking, as we don't actually have their DNA except from the later ones like Gorm the Old and Bluetooth but that's because they are in our line of Monarchy (Denmark and our Monarchy is the oldest in Europe -being the same bloodline)--- sometime I even see claims from Americans being related to Vikings that are myths , and claims of people being related to Rollo -meanwhile we don't even know if he was Danish or Norwegian because we don't have his DNA -so any Americans on line being related to Rollo please send a blood sample so we can finally find out who is right about Rollo you see it's a dispute between Denmark and Norway

    Can you do a video on Maccus De Norseman? He was the founder of clan Maxwell and from research I’ve been able to do, appears to be a descendant of Ragnar Lodbrok through either Ivar the Boneless or Sigurd Snake in the Eye. He may possibly have a connection with MaBeth and his descendant John De Maccuswell was named Chamberlain of Scotland by Alexander II.
    My research hasn’t been able to dig up much else, but you may have more resources at your disposal.

    Eric the Red landed in Canada.

    • @howser1961
      @howser1961 2 роки тому +3

      No he did not. "He passed the first winter at Eiriksey, near the middle, of the Vestribygd (western settlement). The following spring he proceeded to Eiriksfjordr, and fixed his abode there. During the summer he proceeded into the unpeopled districts in the west, and was there a long time, giving names to the places far and wide. The second winter he passed in Eiriksholmar (isles), off Hvarfsgnupr (peak of disappearance, Cape Farewell); and the third summer he went altogether northwards, to Snæfell and into Hrafnsfjordr (Ravensfirth); considering then that he had come to the head of Eiriksfjordr, he turned back, and passed the third winter in Eiriksey, before the mouth of Eiriksfjordr.
      Now, afterwards, during the summer, he proceeded to Iceland, and came to Breidafjordr (Broadfirth). This winter he was with Ingolf, at Holmlatr (Island-litter). During the spring, Thorgest and he fought, and Eirik met with defeat. After that they were reconciled. In the summer Eirik went to live in the land which he had discovered, and which he called Greenland, "Because," said he, "men will desire much the more to go there if the land has a good name.""
      It is somewhat imperative, if one is going to have an opinion, that one should have a look at the original material; The Saga of Erik the Red, wich, along with The Greenlander Saga, gives all the detailed information known to us today. - And Erik himself never went to Canada. His son did, and many people with him and after him, but not Erik the Red.

      the Inuits came from Canada to Greenland about 300 years after the Vikings settled in Greenland , there were another population of different kinds called "paleo Eskimo's" who came and went away in waves , they disappeared when the Inuits arrived the Inuits are not related to these people a DNA study shows , in Inuit myths they tell a story about the earlier people as being tall and afraid of them @@jaysgotjokesofficial

Sooo lots and lots of eyes have bore witness to the beauty of those lands. I'm a fan of this channel, and i rarely comment, but I felt the need to point that out. There is no need for you to be a dick about it tho.

    Leif Ericsson discovered America, that's rich. First, figure out what the word "discover" means. Because it doesn't mean what you think it means. Columbus DISCOVERED America. Not a Viking, not the Templar Knights and not the Polynesians.
