This game was awesome. I remember learning how to do all the executions. It was so simple. Now i can't even comprehend how i did it as a child. I also played through it multiple times, trying to collect everything. And i did. The only sad thing is that my computer couldn't run cinematics..so i didn't even get to see the ending. :(
I played PC port with crazy KB controls... And managed to beat it... I didn't knew you can regenerate health until in chapter 4 found out you can hide claws with Num 5 - FREAKIN' NUM 5 KEY - and this being chapter 4 we are talking about - it didn't help at all because sentry lasers make a swiss Wolverine cheese in 2 seconds. Yep! This guy... THIS GENIUS BYPASSED VENDIGO in Act 2 where game supposedly force you to use barehand fighting style to stun and toss soldiers to him to proceed... BY LURING THEM TO HIM. May i remind you I didn't know you i can regenerate health and it was always had to be done from first try? Man to this day I remember by heart where freakin' health pick ups are... And this sweet-sweet awesome Sabertooth boss fight music from Act 1... Man this is the stuff. The game was clunky indeed - but it did felt like you're playing Wolverine (less unstoppable and more ferocious and tactical one who actually uses his brain to be the best of the best) - to this day i remember it as a good albeit rough on the edges experience. P.S. My PC version didn't even had cutscenes in it! I just thought it was a series of different disconnected stories - Wolverine Origin, Wolverine First X-Men Mission (cause Wendigo was his first one), Sabertooth rematch, Helping Colossus out of The Void prison (completely backwards, right?), Stopping Magneto attack and duking it out against crazy woman on a roof. Like episodes from Wolverine's daily life... WHAT "FIND THE CURE" PLOT?! it was in the game? For real? Welp shiver me timbers i'm so bamboozled.

Also, Jackman's on the box art and it's called "X2: Wolverine's Revenge" but that was just a promotional tie-in gimmick and the actual story in the game was supposed to take place in the 616 universe, so saying "Deathstrike doesn't look like the movies" doesn't go anywhere because she was supposed to be the comic book version. There doesn't happen to be a lot of reviews about this game, and trying to find a positive review of Wolverine's Revenge is as easy as trying to find a a needle in a haystack blindfolded. Good god! This game holds a special place in my hart, and waiting for a possible positive review for Wolvie's Revenge will take as long as Dead Island 2's eventual release! You HATE this game just because it's too hard?! God, look at other good games with bulls**t difficulty! Rayman 1 was a good game that was hard! Super Meat Boy was a good game that was hard! Hell, even Jak 2, with its lack of checkpoints and erratic difficulty spikes, was a great game that I still replay to this day! F***ing hell, I even remember taking my frustration on biting my hand during the turret mission, but even then, I still enjoy it to this day! Unlike you with Wolverine's Revenge! I know that Origins is the better Wolvie title, but for PS2, Xbox and Gamecube, I think they did fairly well, if I do say so myself, I know you'll disagree!
ZPB Studios Maybe there’s a reason it’s hard to find a positive review of X2 haha I don’t dislike it because it’s hard, I dislike it because it’s _bad_ , which is what _makes it_ hard, at least imo. Jak 2 and SMB are two of my favorite games ever as well, and yes they’re difficult, but that’s because they were put together with care and polish, and were designed to be challenging. X2 is challenging because it LACKS good design; you’re constantly struggling against the trial-and-error format, the bad checkpoints, the confusing and uninformative level design, the awkward tank controls and the half-baked combat. I so wish I could still enjoy this game, I want to love it as much as I used to, but playing this game in 2019 was a freakin’ slog and a half for me haha. I don’t genuinely hate it though tbh, too many good memories with it! I mostly exaggerated my hate so I could justify that final funny shot of smashing it with a hammer.
@@PurposelessRabbitholes I'm sorry, Mr Rabbitholes. I just realised that it's just an opinion and I will respect it, no matter how harsh you sounded in the review, but I laughed at the disc destruction scene near the end. I do hate the stealth sections, but the tower climb in the Void, the Wendigo and Magneto fights are entertaining enough for me that I can't really complain I plan on reviewing X2, because that game gave me quite the feeling, not to judge you or anything. X2 received mixed reviews, but I can see your point of view. If they added new environments and focused more on combat than stealth, maybe this could be better, but it's meh, I suppose. Anyway thanks.
@@PurposelessRabbitholes if the healing factor was as fast as it should be as well as active during combat instead of taking 200 yrs which makes you hide and become a statue i suspect that it would've received better reviews. The combat is also better. sure, the stealth animations was lacking, but the focus wasn't on stealth unlike it clearly was for Wolverine's Revenge.

Okay, 12:12 is the best "Hugh *Jack-man"* pun I've ever heard. Purposeless Rabbitholes the Wolverine's Revenge game has serveral differences: on the GameCube, Xbox, and Windows version of the game, the music is normal speed, but on the PlayStation 2 version of the game, the music is speed up, probably due to audio issues.

I remember attempting to play this in 2004 and it ran like crap on my PC so I debated sticking it out and powering through the issues. Thankfully around that time a little ditty of a game called Half-Life 2 was released and I went that route instead. Talk about dodging a bullet. I debated giving this a go again recently as well (already played every other X-Men game I could get my hands on) and luckily this came up and dissuaded the fuck out of that. Also just wanted to say I loved this video. The pacing, editing, humor, basically the whole shebang entertained, informed, and cracked me the fuck up. Now that my rambling is over it's time to binge watch your back entire catalog! (insert maniacal laughter here)
I’ve been subscribed for years and this is the first time I’m seeing this video. Clearly the X-men 97 popularity has blessed you in the algorithm and I’m happy for that
What other Wolverine game is there? X2 was good for its time. The combat was good and there were a ton of different outfits and collectible comics iirc.
You can actually enter a cheat code where you're pretty much invincible, so if you walk into gatling guns etc you're fine. If there's one game where I didn't feel bad about using an invincibility code, it's Wolverine's Revenge because he's invincible in the comics. If you play with that code on, the game is actually pretty Goddamn awesome, plus you can turn it on and off whenever you want, which I would do while fighting the bosses (and the boss battles were awesome, btw). The Magneto, Juggernaut and Lady Deathstrike fights, in particular are great. I prefer Wolvie's Revenge to the Hugh Jackman game in a lot or respects because the Jackman game makes you do like fifty jungle missions.

Heck, youtube wasn't even around yet. I was in highschool when this game came out and my parents lived in the country. We could only get dial up internet which was too weak to watch videos or do video games on. Yeah. Videos on the internet weren't really a thing at that point. Just a few years ago some of the local internet companies installed wires on their road so people out there could have better internet and hence the internet companies could make more money. But in 2003 that wasn't an option. Heck, I don't even think I even watched a youtube video til about 2009 when I had started getting enough hours at work to both pay my rent at my apartment and pay for good internet service.

Love this game. Sabre Tooth fight had me puzzled for a bit as I was trying to avoid his attack when you need to be under it to activate the finishing move. Brilliant.
I personally really enjoyed the game. Yes, it was flawed and the combat could have been better but I loved that Wendigo stage and fights with Sabretooth along with stealth and fatalities/takedowns you could do to multiple enemies. Plus Mark Hamil voiced Wolverine so that's a plus.

Why did it sound in my head correctly?
This game was awesome. I remember learning how to do all the executions. It was so simple. Now i can't even comprehend how i did it as a child. I also played through it multiple times, trying to collect everything. And i did.
And yeah, it propably is pretty much Dark Souls IV to me now, but i had everything memorized to the point of how to easily beat fucking bosses that the whole game was a cakewalk for me.
@@Ghostel3591 Yeah i still remember the science facility missions where you could just slaughter bystanding scientists while everything is exploding around you lol.

@Sandman Slim This game was based on the comics and it's originally named X-Men: Wolverine's Revenge.
This game needed you to execute each and every level with precision, timing and true trial and error. Truly a game that belongs in the same category as battle toads, 007 Goldeneye and the like

@@RGBtheRhinoOverwatcher Thanks for telling me.
For me the coolest aspect of this game was you had complete control over having your claws retracted or extended, and having your claws sheathed improved the rate at which you heal. Actually kinda cool. I also remember it being so, unforgivingly difficult, and not always by design.

What's funny is in the comics Sabertooth DOES hunt Wolverine down on his birthdays, not to kill him just to beat him up. Like some sort of fucked up verson of birthday licks.
I loved this game when I was kid, and raged soo hard but in the end it was simply addicting and it felt so satisfying to beat.
The begining of this game until the Wendigo fight was like a horror game to me when I was a kid, it give me nightmares of those monsters in the x weapon factory. but the game is awesome the stealth mechanics. I hope they make some stealth mechanics in the new Insomaniac Wolverine game
I'm not even a game expert and I completed this without any cheats. I enjoyed the story and action
That's why Colossus, Beast, Magneto and Wolverine look the way they do as well.
Really glad i stumbled upon your channel, you deserve a lot more subs. Keep up the good work my man!
You gave me Vietnam level flashbacks at 12:45 when i heard that damage scream. Had nightmares where i make that sound each time i took damage from something, now i can only pray that they don't come back. AAAAARAGH!
ZPB Studios Maybe there’s a reason it’s hard to find a positive review of X2 haha
I don’t dislike it because it’s hard, I dislike it because it’s _bad_ , which is what _makes it_ hard, at least imo.
One of the many reasons why Origins is the best Wolverine game out there is because of the healing factor being faster and active during combat. The combat is also better. sure, the stealth animations was lacking, but the focus wasn't on stealth unlike it clearly was for Wolverine's Revenge.
@@Soron661 What about the forgotten light gun game from 2004? Okay, 12:12 is the best "Hugh *Jack-man"* pun I've ever heard. I don't know if it's the sheer irritation in your voice, if it was the fact that you just brushed past it as fast as you approached it or if it's the clip that plays during the pun, but I could not stop laughing at that line alone for about 10 minutes straight. ...probably doesn't help that I've been awake for close to 18 hours and I'm really tired, but god I love your content.
This game is great but it has the same flaw as X-Men Origins where it goes from larger levels to just a sequence of boss battles.
Not enough people have heard of it but I like this game, it's not as difficult with the one helpful cheat. I even found it harder than X-Men Legends (without using Danger Room). Soundtrack is lit too.

This video was so entertaining man, I’d like to hear your thoughts on other marvel games like Iron man 1 or hulk ultimate destruction.

Yes, slow health regenaration sucks in games. You have to stay around and keep waiting forever. And it is even worse in games that are designed to have hard enemies that can deplete your health extremely quickly. I had a similar experience in Arcania. Seriously, if you wanna make a game where enemies deal a lot of damage, give the players some quicl and reliable healing to balance things out. Standing around and waiting is not fun.
