- I spend a couple of days exploring Algiers دزاير, Algeria's capital city. I begin at the Martyrs' Memorial and Botanical Garden, before heading to the old city, where I visit Palais des Rais and the enchanting old streets of the Casbah (the largest Casbah in the Arabic world) and the Ketchaoua Mosque.

Among the people who I have seen sexually harassing women, intimidating people in public spaces, yelling obscenities, or committing petty crime or fraud, most have been North African or sub-Saharan African in Paris. These behaviours are rare for the native French. I’m not saying all Algerians are like that I’m saying young North African men seem to have a problem on average compared to other groups.

I really want to learn more about how the country has changed since then now it’s no longer colonised and I assume therefore more authentic to its own identity.
I visited France earlier this year, staying in an area with a relatively high Algerian population. I must say, they were easily the nicest people I met. I’d love to be among that again and embrace that more by visiting the actual country.
