I remember when this happened. Habbo went silent, and chats were disabled for around a week. Yet people came together with torches. Ever since then Habbo was put on stricter guidelines and everything went downhill.

I loved this website so much, It was my favourite game, I played that game for 3/4 years, ever since Channel 4 did this 'report' Habbo has gone downhill and made literally over 4 million users go down to about 1,000+ users. This, is the start of the dark ages of habbo and this makes me so sad.

Ok I came here for memes but this is sickening. This was my favourite game wtf. I used to play it on the old family computer and I just sat in my house thingy admiring my hard work so I had no friends. I had some close friends from Habbo even today, and I nearly met up with some of them (my family was about to buy plane tickets etc), until school got in the way. So I guess not everybody on there is bad.

A pretty terrible mindset to downplay a literal felony by saying it's the victim's fault for not recognizing a crime. Especially if the victim is below 21, a biological stage where people cannot fully perceive what's happening.
also, parents should be the ones responsible for monitoring what their kids are doing online

Ok, the PM (Private message) I don't think moderators can look at that one, but chat in normal rooms, they can see.
For example, If they say in a normal room and not in PM. Something like "Add me if you want to have webcam sex." They would be able to see that. However, if you said it in a Private message (AKA, that yellow box, where no body else can see your messages)
"Hi, would you like have webcam sex?" they wouldn't be able to see that.
Please Note: For them to PM you, they have to add you.

I have been playing this since I was 8 because I wanted Poptarts Points and got addicted to the game (I was involved in little cliques and I sorted out teenage drama even back then lol) but even I wasn't stupid enough to give my info out to guys. I denied any guys' advances because I knew they could have been older men, like in their 30s. You gotra be smart playing any game like this anymore anyway.
Luckily every experience I had with that site was okay back in the day (I used to go in the goth/punk/emo rooms when I was 11 and 12 and made soooo many legit friends lol), including when I played it when I was 8-10 years old originally before I became goth. It only started to get worse in recent years when more crazily creepy guys started invading the site. It truly is the dark ages, especially since the goth rooms are gone and the floral zen garden is gone. Even the Lido pools.

I played habbo since i was 9 years old, almost everyday (that's why i have a bunch of points and legendary badges), until years later this happened (thank you Paul Lafontaine and channel 4), just coming back sometimes to see how things are going, and they are getting worst every month.

I’ll say it once again, Habbo is not responsible for children that ILLEGALLY lie about their age to play this game. By doing so, they unwrap themselves to the dangers of the internet PERIOD.

That’s not what they said or meant. They said it wasn’t Habbo’s responsibility. It’s not. The children’s parents should be watching who their children are talking to, they use video games as a babysitter and don’t pay attention to what they’re doing. If I’m not mistaken, you need a parents permission to be on this site, did the parents just NOT look at the age requirements or did they just not even care and let the kid do whatever? 13 year olds shouldn’t be talking to people twice their age and their parents need to educate them about online safety, it shouldn’t be Habbo’s job to educate your children
THEN DONT GO ON PLACES LIKE THAT! AND IGNORE IT! PLUS 11 YEAR OLD GIRLS SHOULDNT BE PLAYING BECAUSE IT WOULDNT IT WOULD SAY YOUR TO YOUNG, PLUS SHE MUST HAVE LIED HER AGE.
the kids don't, but parents definitely do, and should actually start monitoring what their children are doing online (or better yet, wait until they're 13 before letting them go online in the first place)

@@danielbell99 Pretty much the whole report, they showed it off as if it's the one and only website where paedophiles are looking for children and that everyone should stay away from it at all costs even though at the time the game was pretty much Paedophile free due to the active moderators who constantly moderated chats and servers.
