Here in Brazil there was an auction of several sealed 2005 Sony Wega TVs that remained in the warehouse for decades.
Last year I managed to buy one and it was a surreal feeling to open the packaging of a classic TV like this.
PS2 with component cable looks amazing.

Sounds excellent Fellipe, I would love to get a brand new, Old TV be it a WEGA, Trinitron or PVM. Lush Retro man, lush.

      @@NXGamer Thanks!
It was something no one expected. I imagine that some store in the 2000s must have gone bankrupt, the government must have kept the store's stock. And as everything in the government is bureaucratic, it took decades to carry out the auction. 🤣🤣
I wanted the 20l5 PVM for the versatility of having progressive scan. But it's a rare and very expensive monitor when you find it.
And I don't have the technical knowledge to fix it in case something goes bad.
So I was very happy and satisfied when I found selead Wega

I would never try this myself, but still interesting to watch, thanks!
I currently have 3 CRTs: 1 PVM which is what I use at the moment, and 2 small Consumer units for if/when my PVM stops working. I love retro gaming on CRTs, I even prefer RF via a CRT than anything on a HD TV for retro gaming. Which is basically what most of us used back in the day.
I wouldn’t mind getting an old PC CRT monitor for 480p stuff, but everyone seems to want £100+ these days for them.

Great video! It's always nice to see a CRT saved and that one has a great picture. I'm also a CRT enthusiast and I have some basic CRT repair skills but they are not quite at your level so it was nice to pick up some tips and you did a very good job of walking the viewer through everything.

Loved your video!! Reminded me of my days as a university student. I had picked up a Trinitron KV-21LS30E from the curb which apart from being grimy, had no problems at all. And a while later I found an old Sharp SV-2042E which after a small repair worked like a charm. I've been using them for retro gaming since 2013 and I have never had an issue with neither one. They both have excellent picture quality.

Yes man, I love these stories and moments. I have never had that many over the years to that or this level, but when they do they are even more special. I once had a old house I was helping clear out for a friend (parents) and he said that the biggest box I could take. Within it was a decent condition Amiga 500 with disk's, mouse and joysticks, broken but easily repaired. I kept that one and sold my own due to the history, sad I know but still. Thanks for sharing BillAES.

    Great video 👍🏻
Used to have an old Sony trinitron crt back in the 90s. How I would love to have it now to play my SNES. It’s very good on modern 4K panel through a rad2x via hdmi but nothing beats a crt for 16bit era consoles.
I don’t have the skills myself to attempt this type of fix, but I’m still a big fan of seeing old tech being repaired for a new lease of life avoiding landfill.

Hey there how goes it. I went to my local scrap yard and I saw and found a Sony Trinitron kv 21m3d 51cm and plugged it in and it worked off the bat and the dude gave it to me for 3 euros. I tried it at home and its great with my Mega Drive. I wanna make an arcade cabinate as I have a Rasberry running a retro gaming system with over a thousand games. Gonna get some controllers soon. Question I have is, when I turn on my TV it goes to the channels first. Is there a way to program it to go automatically to Video input so I don't have to fidget with it and get the full Arcade effect I want? Might have to get a remote as it did not have one.

Nice video! I am currently working on a similar model!(KV 14m1d). I managed to turn it on ( repaired some cracked solder points) but now it displays a vertically squished picture, starting from the top and only reaching the 2/3 of the screen. I decided to recap the whole board and then I find your video and I might have a go with the IC responsible for the Vsync. Have you ever experienced a similar issue with a trinitron? Any advice?

Great video man - especially the editing at the start. Question for you: in this video, black lines appear on the left and bottom of tekken 3. Is there any easy (ish) way to adjust the aspect ratio so the picture correctly fills the screen? I've found that the mega drive leaves a black line across the right of the screen on mine, aspect ratio is never centred. Thanks either way for making this stuff :)

    • @NXGamer
      @NXGamer  2 роки тому

Yes, in the video I discuss the engineers menu. If you have the remote use that to adjust the width and height of the screen including the length. This will or should fix most tubes that have drifted slightly. Message back if you still need help.

Now it won’t turn on again. Any ideas?

I have a Sony KV-27S42 CRT I picked up a few weeks ago was working like a champ then all of a sudden there is no picture and sound when anything is connected to it, even when on cable more no white noise picture, the interesting this is that the menu screen pops up when activated, I opened it up to take a look at the board and I dont see any obvious blown caps or anything any idea where to start looking to fix this problem? thanks in advance!

I have a question, so I recently got a CRT Sony trinitron 1310UB. And it's great except, after 30 minutes of playing something, the screen goes suddenly to a purple hue, this will last for 10 seconds then goes back to normal, then again and again.
Do you know what could be causing this?

  • @connor211

I know this is unrelated, but was there a model number on the yoke? I'm trying to test if a CRT I have is worn/dead in this tv as it uses the same tube, but I cant get the yoke off and don't have the equipment to check its inductance. Visually the yoke is identical to the one in your vid but I want to be sure before testing it.
