Nice to see you back sir!!! I still watch your bandai kit builds from time to time. Especially the ywing and the troopers. Bunch of great ideas obtained from those videos. More Bandai please!!! 😅
_The Spice must flow_ As an avid Dune fan I'm absolutely cheering right now! Wonderful painting job! A little lore on this harvester; the machine is supposed to have a bit more movement in the treads due to it navigating over sand dunes. I suppose if you did a full diorama it would help on a uneven basis but for a desk model it's fine
Glad to see you back after such a long absence. Avery unusual subject you picked to do this time and you did it justice, well done. I hope you'll begin more uploads on a fairly regular basis. Keep up the good work.
You did such a fantastic job making what could have been a monolithic grey rectangle into something incredibly rich and textured. Really inspiring paint job!
Yay, new video! Now I'm eager to see the Arrakis base you thought about. The "weathering with oil paints" hasn't bitten you yet, can't say the same for myself 😄
Ohh my... You really nailed this. What a fine paint job. You could put it right into the movie.. Only needs a desert diorama to be perfect... Nice. Regards from Denmark.
First time I watched a video of you and I am really enjoying it! I don't want to put you in a box, but you really feel like the Bob Ross of modelmaking : )
Beautiful build! If you wanted to keep the articulation for the tracks, it looks like you could sneak a butter knife or something flat and sturdy under those arms that the tracks snap on to give yourself the counter leverage for attaching them.
Интересно, где-то реально достать модель харвестра, версии дюны 2000 он ещё напоминал по дизайну жука-скарабея? I wonder if it's possible to get a harvester model somewhere, the Dune 2000 version still resembled a scarab beetle in design?
Wow, that thing IS small! Which is what she said when I dropped my pants. But enough about that. I like the coloring you were able to get with all of your washes. And it’s good to see you’re back. You had us worried.
Paint looks great, the kit is just so small I wish they'd have included the lifters for them, along with to-scale ornithopters, so it'd be a bit more possible to make a diorama of some sort.
Thanks! Yeah it's a shame licenced kits seem to be trending smaller these days, I guess the margins must be too small when they invest in large complex builds that only find a niche audience. We demand more quality molds now, which must cost a lot to R&D, gone are the days when they could hand sculpt something and bang out thousands of kits full of flash and warping issues. 😆 Of course this is all guessing.
Hello, quick beginner question if you don't mind - do you use a booth when airbrushing? I'm just starting out and was gifted an airbrush, but I don't want to mess with a booth unless necessary. Opinions seem to differ, so I figure if you do or don't that would be good enough for me. Thanks! I really appreciate your videos; something I can aspire to.
I haven't ever used a booth, I only spray with acrylics which are not toxic so it's not usually a problem. I am considering getting a booth set up though, as spraying in smallish rooms leaves a lot of spray dust over time all over my models.
Hello. Could you please take a photos from each projection with minimal perspective distortion? Top, bottom; Front, back; Left, right. I'm trying to build a 3D-model. Pretty please. Just without hannds if possible.
Can you tell me how much you've diluted the brown wash (oiled earth), and using what? I got a brand new one and for the life of me cannot get a even, transparent coat. It;s just too thick.
I've never needed to thin the washes, they've always been super thin for me. I have had the Oiled Earth for years now, but don't ever remember it being as thick as you describe. The formula might have changed since I bought mine, not sure sorry.
@@modelchiliNo problem. It must be the new changed formula, since I also got 71.122 (now being named US Desert Armor) and it comes down completely different, sandy yellow instead of a grey-brown tan like on your model. Oh well, gotta improvise :D Thanks!
Yeah that's one of the things about Vallejo, they tend to change colours a little bit, it's really hard to keep up sometimes. Maybe I should just stop referencing the colour name D:
I think the different factions of Dune have different harvester designs. That one in the video was the type used by the Atreides. The Harkonnens used one that was more bug-like in appearance. Trying to remember what the Smugglers' harvester looked like.
As I am never satisfied with anything, i cant help but wish Meng had also released a model of the weirdly organic looking Harkonnen spice harvester to be a companion piece to this one. And something to give a sense of scale. I don't know what they could have done however. An ornithopter in the same scale would be microscopic. A worm would be gigantic. That does however suggest a diorama potential of a worm surfacing under the harvester. Just a pit under the harvester with the suggestion of the worm's mouth and teeth in a surrounding ring. Hmmm.
i really like these no glue type of models, bought a few bandai star wars ones, which i need to buy more of because im really careless and broke every one of them lol. i wish more companies, like Airfix did them like that.
The idea was okay but basically if a person looked at it you would never guess it was supposed to be from a desert environment. It naturally resembles a WW2 vehicle. Desert is completely different shading and weathering. Put a Panzer turret on that harvester and it would look at home.
Excellent work, you made a lovely job of the model...... that is probably one of the worst pieces of "mecha concept design ever." Although expected from this DUNE "B" movie, balloons to take the off the harvesters... really?? Although the harvesters suk less than the Dyson designed guild shuttle and that totally believable landing leg sequence...
Nice build! Everything you did is great, my only complaint is in Denis' actual design. The novel actually describes how the harvesters work by "centrifugally removing the Spice from the sand." So instead of a generic box shape (angles and straight lines), the top should have a distinct circular shape. If you study centrifugal chillers (industrial HVAC), those designs should have inspired the Harvester. But that's on the production team, not you. lol Your build is great! :)
Dune kits on Amazon: amzn.to/4a8I7GW
Thanks for posting this! I was praying to the model gods for Bandai to make some kits to this incredible film! These will do in the meantime!
missed this channel a lot
I hope to get back into a regular build schedule.
@@modelchiliat your leisure!
When I saw it pop up I got real excited
Can’t wait for more builds! More Sci-fi kits please!
@@modelchilitake your time :)
Nice to see you back 👍🏻 lovely build 👏🏼
Cheers!
Very glad to see you back at it Sam. Very nice build.
Thanks!
Its all fun and games when all of a sudden you get that alert "WORM SIGN DETECTED"
in the model building world it would be "CAT SIGN DETECTED" lost many of models to the cat batting it to the floor
Nice to see you back sir!!! I still watch your bandai kit builds from time to time. Especially the ywing and the troopers. Bunch of great ideas obtained from those videos. More Bandai please!!! 😅
Thank you! There's more to come. :)
Excellent work on this build. The weathering is spot on and perfectly in scale.
Thanks!

Thank you! How to you rate Lynch's Dune compared to the new ones?
@modelchili Definitely a good attempt for the time and better than the weird ass 1970s Dune, which was a trip I couldn't begin to explain.
Wundervolle Arbeit.. 😎👍🖤
Top Job 👍👍👍.. Grüße aus GERMANY - BERLIN.. 🇩🇪
Thank you!
Glad to see you back after such a long absence. Avery unusual subject you picked to do this time and you did it justice, well done. I hope you'll begin more uploads on a fairly regular basis. Keep up the good work.
Thanks! That's the plan.
It's nice to see that the 1970 Mercury Cougar makes a comeback as a spice harvester in the future.
My cat was very interested in your paint brush! Looks great, fantastic painting!!
I was so excited to see you back I hit like before watching the video. You were missed!
Thanks :D

Tak!
its just brilliant. Well done! Was a pleasure to assist. I'll subscribe
So glad you're back!
Cheers!
Wonderful paint job! The sand wash makes it look so "in context"
Thank you! I'm glad it paid off.
Glad you're back!!!
Me too!
For just a "block" it is a surprisingly complicated paint job and build, the flat surfaces make it more challenging.
It was a fun build :D
Love this ❤ the new Dune movies were so good.
Welcome back! We missed you!
Thanks!
I was very much expecting that wash to coffee stain when you were tapping it but it didn't, couldn't believe it. Glad you're back btw.
Oh wow, I just ordered one of these last night! I'll definitely be using this for some inspiration on how to paint it up haha.
Nice, hope it goes well!
I missed your videos, so happy to see you still posting
Thanks!
Very nice mate! Welcome back 🙂
That is some insanely good small-scale work, Master Samuel.
Why thank you
So good to have you back Sam! Wonderful build as always :-)
Truly amazing how you brought that model to life. Excellent work.
Thank you!
Great build. Made it look effortless. Have a subscribe.
Thanks and welcome!

Lovely! Now get the infamous popcorn worm bucket and FEED IT TO THE WURM! 😂

I wonder if it's possible to get a harvester model somewhere, the Dune 2000 version still resembled a scarab beetle in design?
Very cool build and great video! I wonder if you could make a convincing diorama with shiny metallic flakes as spice on a sand surface.

Well I'm glad you can worry no more. :D
This looks like you could do a great diorama with this little kit and the Dune2 popcorn bucket.
Welcome back, Mate!
Cheers!
Great to see you back
That looks amazing! Great work.
What a fantastic build! You've inspired me to take my own try at it :D

A small model but perfectly done

@modelchili Did you clear coat the model after applaying the wash ?

hi Chilli great to see you back - missed you
Glad to be back!
You gotta try the ornithopters I used sand pigments so much fun !!!
Building them right now!

Been waiting for ages for these to come. Had them on pre order for a while. Where do you get yours?
I got these from Hearns Hobbies in Melbourne.
Nice, thanks for the video. =)
It's been a while brother where have you been? Hope everything is going ok !
He's been in Arrakis gettin lost in the spice.
Work's been keeping me busy, but that's not a problem no more. About to move country yet again!
А зачем у Харвестера на крыше расположены кулеры от видеокарт?
And why the Harvester has video card coolers on the roof?
Very sensitive and not overdone - love the sand - excellent - some people overdo the black
Thanks!
I didn't see the conection until now but do you think these Harcester is based on the NASA Crawler?
Yeah could definitely be an influence.
I still glue snap kits. I glued this one and left the treads off for painting.
Yeah definitely makes it easier.

Yeah gotta love these new technologies that makes these types of kits possible, and affordable!
If your eyes didn't turn blue at the end of the build, then you didn't do it correctly :P
Ah maybe they did. :p
Baron Vladomir Harkonen: THE SPICE MUST FLOW!
Ever notice that him and MOJO from the X-Men are a lot alike?
Great work as always, MC.
Ждём коробку с воздушным шаром, для этого краулера!
AMAZINGNES!!!
De Spice Harvesters from Dune 1984 look more interesting and are instantly recognizable, such better design.
Hope in the future you build ornithopters.
I'm building them right now!
It would make an awesome coffee table, if it was just a tad bigger
Brilliant using the bargain brushes for Yeoman's work.
top de la france ..model..
Very spice!
That's a spicy meatball

This is pretty much what HE3 collectors will look like on the moon.
Make a sand worm! Custom. Know you can do it!
Have a good Christmas Chilly Willy from AUS :)
the wash made the model. Too bad it's so small
Super small.
I needed more chili in my life! 🌶️
I'm here to provide 🌶🌶
Thats undewhelmingly small for the size of the box

cool
