He was definitely the greatest of the Targaryen kings, Westeros by the time of the books desperately needs another king like him.

My favorite king. Favorite story. So sad his children passed they way they did.
I think that is the tragedy of jaehaerys. He was one of the best kings westeros ever saw, but some elements of his personal life were very sad. In some cases he was complicit other utterly out of his control.
World Of Westeros I agree with you 100%. His story is triumphant then tragic.
The faith of the seven really didnt want powerful dragon genes to be around so to me it makes sense they didnt live long and i believe saera had a big role in it.

I’m currently reading his story in Fire and Blood right now! His story thus far is the absolute highlight of this book! I will definitely be rambling about him in my review of Fire and Blood!
He may not have been the best father sometimes, but he was hands down the best Targaryen king in history.
On balance definitely the best king. I don’t think he was an awful father compared to many kings but he could have done better with his younger children

Having read Fire and Blood. The Conciliator is without doubt an example of what Westerosi Kings should aspire to be. Only tragedy had been when he and his Good Queen Alysanne never got to spend another few years together.
Alysanne and Jaehaerys are easily my favourite King and Queen of Westeros. Alysanne was AWESOME.

My favorite King in all of Westros. I believe him and Torrhen Stark were they two best.
What I like about Torrhen is he put his duty to his people before his own personal pride. Sets the mould for a lot of starks after him.
they are not comparable ! what do you know about Torrhen rule as a king of the north beside he knelt , what else to make him best ? Torrhen only ruled the north while Targaryen ruled the seven kingdoms , kingdoms with different culture , religion and power. it is not the same! even cregan when he came to kings landing to be a hand he ruled a day and left , many stark fans believe that he could take power for himself but in fact he couldn't , he was able to take it for a moment thats all he couldnt hold for sure plus velalyrion fleet at the walls of the capital with Alyn Velaryion. but i am glad he left , ordering a trial.

This is my favorite channel right now. I have problem reading sometimes, when I'm finish with a chapter in Fire and Blood. I tend to forget sometimes what happened in that chapter, but with these summarize videos helps me understand it along the way. The video is well made and the maps as well, so thank you so much. There isnt any proof this is the case but i like to think that jeahaerys knew that he couldnt meet moon in battle, so perhaps he had a hand in moons mysterious assassination. Perhaps at the hands of a face changing death cult ;), Just a fun theory to think about
I think it is plausible to an extent, if there had been a battle there would have been a huge loss of life. Jaehaerys would have probably won but in the process burned thousands. It would have only made the situation with the faith worse, and i suspect and even bigger uprising could have happened

Honestly I find Jaehaerys reign more interesting then Aegon the conquer’s. I wouldn’t mind if someone would adapt Jaehaerys reign for a long running series if they could do it right which I know is a tall if not near impossible ask but still I find myself trying to learn more about the old king’s reign.
I personally think it's such an underrated part of Fire and Blood and would love to see it on TV. However i know given how long he ruled and that you would also need the added context of the events of Maegor's reign it would be a nightmare to adapt. I think i would almost need to be an anthology of some sort
@@WorldOfWesteros the best option I could think of though it would be considered a real outside of left field option would be to allow a company over in Japan to make it a long running anime series of the whole fire and blood series starting from Aegon and ending with the events of Roberts Rebellion.
Would be cool if after the Dance of Dragons is finished, House of the Dragon does individual seasons focusing on different Targaryen eras, stuff like.
-Aegon the Conqueror (I don't know if they would have the budget to do the burning of Harrenhal.).
-Maegor the Cruel (he was a terrible ruler but his short reign was bananas, would love to see a good actor portray him). Could have some focus on Aenys weak leadership.
-Aerys II (mainly to see young Tywin, Ned, Bobby B and Rhaegar).
Doubt it will happen though. Aerys II is the one I would like to see on TV the most.

World of ice and fire has a fair bit, but fire and blood has a lot more detail. Most of the source information for this video was a combination of both

There is a decent size section about that in The World Of Ice & Fire. Plus it covers a lot of other cool pre conquest stuff in both Westeros and Essos. The Asshai is also great read.

Yes he was a good king but some of his mistakes are felt greatly in HOTD and in GOT, his wife had to correct many of his mistakes
