    Any intersection like that should also have clear signage indicating that it is a one way street being entered onto. Drivers should never have to depend on line markings to determine such a thing - in inclement weather they may not be visible even if freshly painted, and are often allowed to deteriorate and fade in any event. Fault: The street department.

    Where I live (Canada) a two lane road divided by a white line can also have traffic traveling in both directions. The dotted white line means a vehicle travelling in the same direction can pass a vehicle by using the oncoming lane if it is safe to do so. (e.g. no oncoming traffic). A solid white line no passing. Yellow lines are used mostly in rural areas. Dotted yellows passing is allowed, solid single/double lines it is unsafe to pass. (careless driving if you pass on a single or double yellow line and cause an accident).

  • @tonymusolino2369

    In the US, white perforated lines are used to indicate multiple lanes in the same direction, you can switch lanes when safe to do so. Single white solid line is used to indicate multiple lanes of traffic in same direction, no lane changes permitted, you must stay in your lane. Double solid yellow lines indicate lanes of traffic in opposite direction. Not allowed to cross a double solid yellow line. If yellow line is perforated on one side, it means you can change lanes to go around someone (passing is permitted). if the perforation is on your left you may pass to the left. If the perforation is on the other side, then oncoming traffic may pass to their left. But only when safe to do so.

    Well in Quebec Canada a dashed line does not indicate one way. It indicates that a car can pass another car. A solid line indicates a car can not pass another car.
    If it was a one way road there would have to be a sign. If there was no grey car there would be no way of knowing the direction of the road. Also, is the grey car traveling in the right direction?

    • @PaulShepley
      @PaulShepley Рік тому

      I apologies, the Quebec traffic manual does indicate white dashed lines are used for traffic moving in the same direction. The old code used white, and we still have roads where the yellow paint has been warn off and the only colour left is white. One of these roads is near my, the 148 north of the Ottawa river.

    Good to know the meaning of lines in America.
    White dashed lines are often normal two way roads here in Europe, here they just indicate if overtaking is permitted. (Solid = No; Dashed = if situation safely allows it)
    If I didn't know any better, there were no 「 One way 」or 「 No entry 」signs and not enough traffic in both lanes going one way, I'd be none the wiser going against traffic.

    • @Misteribel
      @Misteribel Рік тому

      Yellow dashed lines separate two way streets, and mean overtaking is permitted (contrary to white dashed). There also exist double yellow dashed lines to indicate a reversible centre road (signs will show what direction is ‘open’). Yes, it’s very different from Europe.

    • @Stratelier
      @Stratelier Рік тому

      There _are_ some occasions in USA where you'll find solid white lines between adjacent lanes to indicate no lane changes allowed, but more often solid white is just used to mark the edge (usually shoulder) of the lane.
      Also, the video actually does have an (easy-to-miss) "one way" sign at the bottom but it is too far from the intersection to be practical. You usually find them combined with the stop sign / intersection light / cross street's sign.

    • @jbone665
      @jbone665 Рік тому

      @@Stratelier Solid single white line means lane changes should only be done in caution as they are used in hard to see spots like blind curves. Double lines are do not cross, white means traffic is going along your flow and yellow is opposite direction flow.

You said "all cars want to pass the intersection" so we must assume the yellow car has not in or passed the intersection yet and is backing into the intersection. That would mean it is also is on the wrong side of the road for travel in that direction.

IMO the only one breaking the law is the blue vehicle.

      Where are you driving in this situation? In Canada only the blue car is illegal for being on the wrong side of the double line and against oncoming traffic. The broken slotted line, in Canada does NOT signify one way traffic but is a divider between the lanes on a two direction highway. It also indicates where it is safe to pass slower moving traffic. Upgrades on hills and around curves where you can't see oncoming traffic will have double solid lines., Where the stop signs are there would also be signs indicating it is one way traffic in the direction of travel. I'm not saying he is wrong for where he lives but, in the interest of safety, I think he should indicate which country he is talking about because utube is world wide and regulations are different. @Kendrick's_Driving_Tests I have a challenge for you. A high-traffic road runs through a shopping district. A stop-light governed intersection (Intersection A) connects to a short road (6-8 car lengths, two traffic lanes and a central turn lane servicing both intersections) that intersects with a road parallel to the first in a three-way T-junction stop (Intersection B). During high-volume traffic periods, the turn lane of this short road often becomes overcrowded with cars wishing to turn left at Intersection A (the closest route out of the shopping district). This, of course, leads to back-up on both sides of Intersection B. What is the proper order for cars waiting to enter the turn lane when traffic advances?

  • @member888lb

    If this happened in Las Vegas, then only the blue car is in the correct lane and both blue and green cars are going in the same direction (note turn light signals) and they would side-swipe each other in a gladiator battle for dominance and possession of the same lane especially since this lane takes them to the nearest International House of Pancake (IHOP) where there is a free breakfast for the first 10 customers.

      member888lb If you look closely at the green car, you'll see that you, are looking at the back of it. I have no answer as to why it is showing a white turn signal instead of red. Maybe he got rear ended and the lens is broken, but a moot point as both green and blue cars are turning in the same direction. I don't know the rules in Nevada but in Canada if both cars are turning onto a two lane one way road they (by law) are both able to turn at the same time. The caveat is that they each must turn into the closest lane. Wasn't a problem when I got my license many decades ago but now,with many drivers trying to criss-cross into the farther lanes, it is risky business to follow the rules. I was given two pieces of advice by my driving instructor::
      1: Insisting on the right of way could get you dead right.
      2: treat all other drivers as though they are idiots. Both have saved my bacon many times. Pax

I didn't see the One Way sign until later in the video. That kind of sign would normally be very prominent in multiple locations, including directly above the STOP sign.

A double yellow solid line means do not cross the lines and the on coming traffic will remain on their side of the road and they will not be allowed to cross over the lines either. White dotted lines are for traffic going one way and there is a sign pointing which way in this video. It's very simple. Typically in America, there will be a lot more signs pointing in the one way direction and there will be do not enter signs for even more clarity for drivers who aren't familiar with the lines.

    Your options are all wrong!
    Red truck is doing nothing wrong. Assuming he stopped at the stop sign, he's making a legal right turn to go west,
    Same for green car. He's making a legal right turn, too, to go east.
    We don't know whether the yellow car came from the east, the west, or from the north, but from this viewpoint, I don't see any evidence that he did anything wrong, either.
    We don't know where the gray car came from either, so I can only assume he came from the west, through the intersection toward the east legally since he had the right-of-way.
    Only the blue car heading south is in the wrong lane facing oncoming traffic.
    Perhaps I would say that YOU are in the wrong because you're scenario is, itself, invalid since you'll never have a dashed line passing through an intersection like this. Rather, the traffic coming from both the east and the west will have yield signs or some other markings prior to the intersection, even if the north and south have stop signs.
    So my answer is...
    5) Blue, and creator of this video.

      Oh! the answer is 3 because the You Tube icons covered up the ONE WAY sign while the video was paused. So, again, I attribute my wrong answer above to the creator of this video.
