When I worked in Beijing 5 year ago，I went to Summer Palace almost every weekend. It is a very beautiful and relax place. I am very happy to watch this video as it recalls back all my memory in Beijing. Thanks for your sharing.

Quick question, the temple behind the tower on top of the hill with the thousand buddha sculptures. I believe its called 智慧海, I see its closed on your visit. Is it typically just closed for renovation and will open to the public soon? Have you ever been inside?
The twelve birth sign fountain heads were lobbed off and stolen and some were even auctioned at Christie's. Chinese businessmen bid for some and replaced them , but a couple are still missing.
It would be nice and civilized of the French and English if they return many of the treasures looted and now on display in their museum's. But I know it won't happen.

I just loved my day at the Summer Palace. So much room to walk and explore and stay away from the crowds. Thanks for the memories

Large portions of the Summer Palace were destroyed and burned by French and English troops in 1860.
It is a sad history.
