Thank you for your kind review! I’m glad you found them wonderful. Datong actually has many other beautiful temples, but I didn’t have the chance to visit them all during my trip. I’d love to explore more of them when I get the opportunity!
I loved this video so so much, thank you for sharing with us!!! I visited Datong this summer with family and it was great to just relax and re-"visit" and walk through Datong again by watching your video ♥
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so glad the video brought back great memories of your visit to Datong. It’s wonderful to hear that you had a relaxing time with your family. ❤️🌹
Sigh, I made a special trip to Datong in May this year. Watching this video, I am upset I missed so many beautiful attractions there, especially the Huayan Temple. 😭 Before I left for China, I did my research. The most popular sites mentioned in the few websites I checked were Yungang Grottoes, Hanging Temple, Fogong Pagoda, Shanhua Temple and the Fortress wall. I did not know Datong has such beautiful Art Museum, Drum Tower, and such and I missed them all! 😩
Yungang Grottoes and Hanging Temple are also very beautiful. It's very cool that you went to those places 👍 🎉. There are too many attractions in Datong, and you will always miss some, but this also leaves motivation for the next trip. ❤️
@@SEIWOORI China has so many interesting ancient sites I want to visit. So I will more likely visit new places I have yet to see. I will have to contend myself watching YT videos of places I missed out. Luckily there is YT and kind vloggers who upload their videos. 😄
@@SEIWOORI Yes, I was really touched by the helpfulness of the many people I asked for directions. Each and everyone of them, including the police and security guards ... and my taxi driver who took me to the Hanging Temple in Datong and who refused to accept my fare when he took me to the HSR station the next day! Everyone was so helpful and patient. Btw, I have been to China 4 times already. I hope to go again next year.
Excellent presentation on Datong Shanxi. Datong seem to be a very interesting city with an ancient past of the Liao Dynasty. It seems there were different cave cravings at the Grotto from different dynastic periods.
Thank you, I'm glad you like my video🌹 The Yungang Grottoes took about 150 years to build, and have gone through many dynasties. The appearance and characteristics of the Buddha statues are also different in different eras.
FYI, the grottoes were mostly built in the Bei Wei (北魏) Dynasty which was far ahead of Liao. but yes, the following emperors kept adding more and more to it
Its amazing to see how much this place has changed. From the 2000s to the early 2010s Shanxi was coal country and notorious for its poverty and pollution. Things there have improved greatly and now with Black Myth Wukong giving the province a massive marketing boost, I can imagine its a surreal feeling for the people living there to have gone from what they were before to now having millions clamoring to come and explore its magnificent dynastic art and architecture.
When I went to Datong many years ago, I felt that the air seemed to be filled with coal slag, and the pollution was indeed serious. This time I visited Datong again, I didn't expect the sky to be so blue. The standing of the ancient buildings provided the possibility for the on-site shooting of Black Myth Wukong. I admire the professionalism of the game production team and the maintenance of the ancient buildings by the cultural relics protectors of all generations.

This is really great. There is an old Chinese saying, "It is a great pleasure to have friends from afar", so most of the people are friendly. 🌹🌹

Wow, the elephant pillars approach to Yungang Grottoes are very majestic and impressive!
The road is long, the pillars are beautifully carved, and it feels a bit sacred when you walk there.😊
The original over thousand of years old elephant pillars in weathered forms can be found in one of the grottoes.

Filming location of BLACK MYTH WUKONG
👍 There are many temples in Shanxi, and many of the filming locations of BLACK MYTH WUKONG were in Shanxi.
