Is there any waterproof case compatible with FIMI PALM.? Both osmo and fimi are of similar size, but fimi palm has a joystick, so have u tried using those osmo pocket water proof housings for fimi palm? Or any other option specificaly to make ur fimi palm water proof for use in the pool or for diving.?
Hi Seems to be a very honest review, which makes a nice change as I'm tired of reviewers never pointing out the bad bits due to the fact they are sent items to review and do not want to lose the company from sending them more free stuff. As an Osmo Pocket owner since it was released, I can say it's not without its faults one being a focusing issue.... Then there's the fact the battery life is not great plus if you happen to be an android user who plugs into the Osmo Pocket via a cable or the unit connector, it actually starts to charge the phone meaning the battery life of the Osmo Pocket QUICKLY becomes TERRIBLE..... Which I might point out no reviewer mentioned this fact and it has a massive impact on using the device. Then there the field of view which as we all know isn't great, of course, there are ways around these issues but at a cost..... My own experience in using cameras is there really does not seem to be one perfect camera. If I had known all of the Osmo Pockets FAULTS at the start I would have probably not brought it...... So it's nice to see a review that includes all the faults, As this gives the potential purchaser ALL the necessary information on if it's really suitable for the task in Hand 👍

I'm going to watch yours right now. Tell me this; since the latest firmware update this week do you get an SD card error when recording 2.7k 60fps in selfie mode when face detection is on? I get a card speed error after 7-15 seconds since updating, but only in the exact circumstances I described.

Oh you're right, my panorama does not work either! Good catch. I have none of the other gimbal freak-out issues except for mild overheating. Funny that UA-cam accepts 4k video and then butchers it with added compression.
I uploaded in 1080 because my internet is so slow but I was disappointed at how badly the FIMI footage looked after uploading to UA-cam compared to the rendered file on my hard drive.

A well considered review, thanks. Normally I find all sorts of things to pick holes in with such reviews but this time I've little to say except - the onboard sound. With current firmware it's unusable - previously it was ok for non-serious use. I believe they are trying to fix that. But as you didn't mention sound, you didn't mention the noises generated by using the buttons and joystick. If using onboard sound, you can't really use the joystick, so its usefulness is rather limited. As for gimbal issues, have you tried adjusting the gimbal amplification or whatever it's called in the app (only)? That can fix some gimbal problems. Overall, it's not a Pocket killer - it's an alternative for those on a lower budget, or who prefer the fixed focus wide angle look. I have both and regard them a bit like different lenses on a DSLR.

No special treatment, no. Almost all, if not all of footage is straight from the camera. For the first person perspective shots I designed a 3D printed clip to attach it to my shirt collar or baseball cap.

I would probably search for a Fimi Palm backpack clip and try to use that. Or buy a GoPro hat clip and an adapter with a 1/4" tripod screw. The Palm has a 1/4" socket on the back which is an ideal location for mounting to a hat.

I have noticed fimi palm is only usable in sunny urban settings. the leaves trees and grass are too artificially sharpened and looks like typical cheap android camera. but urban city setting such as buildings that have straight shapes are ok...so yeah usage is pretty limited. imagine similar gimbal with sony rx0ii....that would be another story
Looking for a video device for casual video shooting. Don't really need robust one. Find it hard to choose between DJI Osmo Action or the Fimi Palm, which is half the price. What would you choose? Is the Fimi Palm reliable enough?
If it doesn't have to be robust like an action cam, the Palm has some advantages over the Action, like the gimbal and the price. It does have some issues though but many people love their Palms. I have never used the Action so I can't speak on that with confidence.
I have been through 2 of the fimi palm 2 pros and nothing boom has come out of either, the video quality was pretty good but neither would work using the app and 1 wouldn't turn more that 15-20 degrees to 1 side, recommend passing on the palm 2 pro!
What would you recommend to vlog and shoot nice b. roll in 2020 ? Osmo pocket + freewell wide lens or fimi palm? My budget is not really the concern, i just want a great quality while being practical and easy to use
I would go with the Fimi for vlogging. The osmo plus wide lens combo is not as sharp or wide as the Fimi. But keep in mind the Fimi has a lot of problems that need to be fixed in firmware.
Have you tried taking 9mins or longer video? Mine always stops at 8mins something and resumes. I’ve used 4K micro SD and also class 10. But still stops at 8mins something and resumes. That happened to my sprouts camera before but the Class 10 micro SD resolved my problem.
Great review, I enjoyed your honesty, I am very new at this, with money not as plentiful, it wasn't was before I got hurt, I would love for Fimi to be able to fix all the issues you pointed out, could they fix all the issues with firmware updates, if so I would not have any hesitation to purchase, DJI it seems like you must buy alot of extra stuff, I love the wi-fi on the Fimi, and I here battery life is good, but the gimbal problem and the slow motion is a big turn off. BOOS I shooted videos at 4k /30 fps but when I download them from the app its becomes W= 1024 and H=576 before downloading the app gives me the warning that I must download them from an SSD card as the app compress them a lot so what the issue? why am I not getting videos at 4k frame width and height?

The Pocket 2 has better video quality and can give you some background separation whereas the Fimi has an "everything in focus always" lens. But man, the Fimi gives so much for the price. Joystick, wifi, bigger screen, super wide field of view, slow motion, tripod socket, a nice sharp lens. I think it depends on what you do with it; if it's mostly vlogging or mostly creative cinematic stuff you want to do.
Hey, My Daughters Kindergarten teacher got a i5create(bestbuy brand i think) 360 camera, and he has been able to use it for regular shots but he can also use it for 180s and a 360 shot and shows what hes doing and writing. He creatively made so much use of it I bought one. Its a plug and play Webcam with a bunble camera and by first look I thought It wouldent be something I would use, But it has so many different uses. To Google it its i5creat 360°all around Webcam. Its awesome.

i have problem also. Not always but some times it's not sync. I bought some fast sd cards but still remains a problem. no matter the fps or resolution. i hope that they solve in a future firmware update
Just received mine yesterday after purchasing in April and ive been searching through youtube for all the footage of how this camera is supposed to perform. Mine shakes and is not smooth. I uploaded 2 really short few second videos to my page, If anyone is interested to see another potential issue.
For the shots where you film yourself, yes, but for shots of the food, no. It will not produce beautiful footage in restaurant lighting, which is often not very bright. And footage of food will look better with a shallow depth of field. A really low cost way into beautiful close up food shots would be the Canon M100 with the 22mm lens. You can find that combination for less money than a new GoPro.
i already tried this camera, the osmo pocket is different level than his camera. If you already used the osmo pocket, i'm sure you don't want to use this camera.

Yes it records sound. If you watch at 5.40 that sound is recorded on the Fimi.

i already tried this camera, the osmo pocket is different level than his camera. If you already used the osmo pocket, i'm sure you don't want to use this camera.

For $180 I think the video quality is very good, yes.
@@Roos-Reviews for a few bucks more you can buy the osmo 1 which is superior by far. In any case, the review is already 1 year old and things has changed. I wish you quick recovery.
