  • Born in 1850, C. C. Filson inherited his father's pioneer spirit and love of the outdoors. After homesteading in Nebraska and roaming the country as a railroad conductor, he moved to the small city of Seattle, Washington in the 1890s.
Filson continued to make his goods from the best materials obtainable, and guaranteed every piece of merchandise. If he didn't stock an item a customer needed, he custom-made it for him. Here's how their products are made, straight from their Seattle factory floor.

I love Filson! A lot of people complain that they are made in Bangladesh now instead of the Usa and claim quality went down the drain, i have a lot of vintage Filson and i have a lot of new Filson and the quality did not go down! Infact i would argue the quality stayed the same or even improved and the fit improved a lot (longer sleeves than the vintage stuff especially!!). Filson is expensive AF but they still have the best designed clothing out there IMO! This is coming from a material and clothing nerd who understands every fabric/button/zipper on the market.

Sadly this factory was closed down and employees were laid off a little while ago. The company that owns Bedrock outsources the majority of the Filson line now. With only some wool garments still being made in seattle.

It will be nice when the urban lumberjack movement is over and the common working class can afford quality goods.

What are the odds that 100% of the staff are Asian in an American company dating from 1850??

Filson making all of their factory employees wear masks during an entire shift, at their own isolated work stations, definitely gives it that communist China, sweatshop factory vibe. Sadly, it's not a Chinese factory. It's actually located in uber liberal, woke, Democrat Governor led (Jay Inslee) Washington state (USA).

As long as Bedrock Manufacturing and Paolo Corinaldesi are in charge, C.C. Filson is just a face value label. No more soul to the name.

I absolutely love my Filson bag collection! It's very sad to see the company is/was forcing their employees to wear masks at their own isolated work stations.. It literally makes them look like slaves working in a sweat shop. Do you think their executive and management staff was working in their offices with covid masks on?? Absolutely not. Disgusting.
