The reason why such version would be produced, was that the Disney cartoon Aladdin was showed in Hong Kong in early 1990's, and its English original theme song was translated in Cantonese correspondingly. When the same cartoon was showed in Taiwan, its theme song was translated into Mandarin as well. One of the interesting feature is both Cantonese and Mandarin versions were sang by same two singers： 周華健 and 陳淑華
