  • Sunday took us to Plymouth.
We arrived at the Plym valley railway to find it was Brake van rides,Rosie enjoys these as you get a better view of the location,on the brake van riding Sundays they don't use the full length of the line,so check there web site for more details.
The members of staff were very friendly and helpful giving Rosie and I a tour of the items on display and in the workshop.
If your in the Plymouth area please visit this railway,a steam loco should be back in service very soon.

A railway I never managed to get a ride on despite being in the area a number of times in the past. I think the original Marsh Mills station was largely obliterated by a new road, but the track is still extent to the ex GWR mainline. Extension to the north is definitely possible, but Yelverton is probably as far as this will ever get - further up the line is the missing Walkham Viaduact (near Grenofen) and that was demolished a long time ago, only to be replaced by a new cycle/pedestrian bridge at a much lower level. Lots of railway history everywhere on and around this ex GWR branch line, lots of big viaducts which are still there, the Lee Moor Tramway. An excellent video and looks like the brake van ride is fun. Your videos are keeping my railway interests alive - much thanks for this.

The Plym Railway is in an attractive area and it's a pity it's only 1.5 miles long.Hopefully Albert will be available again soon to give this line much needed publicity. Most enjoyable Regards Geoff.

A shame they don't run over the full length of the line every time they have a running day.Like most lines it is all down to money and volunteers.......Regards Chris.

I enjoy doing that 'On/Off' editing myself Chris, nice footage but if Rosie takes up Guarding the real test is if she can sleep on the locker lol.... Cheers, Brian.

LOL! I'm sure she could do that.We were always waiting for that clashing of buffers coming down the train as the driver had let the dead mans go,you have to hang on to what ever you could or you would be over the side, not funny........Cheers Chris.

When I had the loco Chris I took great pride in not 'roughing up' the Guard..... although, one did once pay the price after falling asleep with handbrake rubbing. A stop on the main line with me walking back a line of bogie bolsters checking all the handwheel brakes til I found the brakevan with red hot blocks and him comatosed on the locker. He did not sleep much for rest of trip....lol.

Is that on part of the old Tavistock line? 13002 must be a very early 08, dating form 1952, I find.
