- When we bought this fixer upper in June of 2021, we gutted it down to the studs, ripped the roof off, and just about completely started from scratch. But it was worth it for the 4 acres on our very own river. Little did we know when we moved our family of 9 into an RV that it would take THIS LONG to finally start getting to rebuild it all! But here we are! The walls are finally going up and the framing of our dream home has begun! We can't wait to show you guys the finished product! I went back this weekend and re watched your video's when you first picked up Lincoln and Penny. And how far each has come again it is because of you they have grown so much. I just love each of your children and as I posted on Our Tribe of Many this am would have a very hard time using the word NO to any of them. I'm loving watching your house take shape. Our house was also built in 1973 and I think of it as quite new, but we are surrounded by houses that were built in the mid 19th century that I regard as old. So I suppose that's one of the cultural differences between the UK and the US.

I think maybe the century-old houses were better and sturdier built in traditional methods as opposed to the maybe more flimsy buildings of the '70s.
I laughed when Lincoln was half asleep... my brother when he was little would tell us "I'm just resting my eyeballs..." and would jump up just to keep from falling asleep! Happy silly memories...

It’s great to see the house look like a house now. Cat wait for 4 months to see it completed and you all move in. Both Amanda and Stephen s voice sound really good the book will be a great success. Ve to wait for it to be here .
So much completed in a day but at least part of the roof is up .just in time before the kids get too old to enjoy it and are still at home.
Lincoln is cute out. He knows how to get what he wants even though he can’t talk yet.

Also I’m wondering if you might want to re-consider a window in the pantry. Or to just have some light in there ?? Maybe consider having a narrow window(s) up towards the top area of wall, so it would be more indirect light but yet you would get some light that would not cause damage to your food items bring stored in there?? Just a thought-:)

I love the idea of all the windows letting in natural light and am excited to see the finished house but at the same time thinking as someone who grew up in tornado alley (Kansas) I worry about it at the same time especially in the basement. Hopefully you all have at least one safe spot in the basement to go to in the event of a tornado or even just a tornado warning. I don’t know how often Tennessee gets them but I do know you still do.

Very smart having your master suite bedroom on the main floor. So many house plans have all bedrooms upstairs. We have our master on main floor and feel like it’s our own private area to retreat. Especially as the older children start coming and going with sports,jobs and friends
We did the upstairs thing before and hated it. Haha
