Thank you for being honest. I was there in 2003 and since then (especially after the pandemic), it has been very touristy. There's good and bad that comes with the "show." It's now up to those who are genuine vs. those who just want to get likes on social media. I respect you guys! Thank you! (My parents are from Laos and I have relatives in Laos who talks about tourists all the time.)
I’ve been to LP many times and the only time I watched this was when I was staying at a hotel and having an early breakfast. It was right towards the end of the monks walk. Anyway I was able to watch (there were a good amount of locals) and it was super silent. I just sat quietly and once they passed I ate my breakfast. It was actually a really nice surprise because I didn’t want to do it before due to being a tourist. Sitting there respectfully and out of the way, but still able to respectfully observe is really the way to do it!
I love you guys video, we plan to visit our home country next year. Wonder if you guys can recommend hotel you guys stay or any nearby that night market area. I assumed you guys are back home now. Thanks,
when it's wad it up and rolled in meat, you generally remove the herbs, the lemon grass is on the woody side, it's more of a bouquet to flavor, your reaction was priceless
I'm loving watching you both! Have you ever considered doing a.. live....chat...with all your fans, maybe for an hour? It would be nice ..! Just a thought .. Martin..Bristol..England
I'm sorry you had a bad experience because of the tourists doing such a thing not respecting properly of such a beautiful ceremony. You both are really great in that way so respectful to every culture that's why I always enjoy watching your videos because you are never boring & very good people. Beautiful inside out!
I'm Lao and have been to Luang Prabang twice and have not participated in alms giving because I don't fully understand the meaning of the tradition and I hate it when tourists participate not knowing the ins and outs. I wish people would just stop and think. If you don't know why the people are doing what they're doing then don't do it! I really wish they would prohibit locals from selling the experience to tourists so they can preserve the sanctity of the ceremony. I found a less busy street where it was just locals participated and did like you, sat across the street watching respectfully. Typically, it's like you said, dead quiet and almost solemn. It's beautiful to watch when there's no tourist interference. It's a beautiful tradition that needs to be preserved better. Side note: Lao food is very herbatious, sometimes funky, and mostly spicy.
Dear there is only one true God He is Jesus Christ. Praying to a monk for blessings isnt gonna get you any where. Turn your life around and except Jesus into hour life, as we are nearing the end.
