The Bellas challenged them because they thought they could win but when they're losing they couldn't accept it and just ran away, remember they challenged a literal band not an acapella group, of course they're gonna use instruments that are their strength, Bella's challenged them knowing full well they are a band.

Yup. Shocking how many ppl missed it. This is the turning point for them. It shows how rigid they are with their rules while others are just enjoying music. This was a bad look for the bellas, and it is intentional. The breaking the rules claim just make them look like whiny losers.
I actually loved that the other bands had a good time singing together. Shows great sportsmanship. Like they were genuinely having a great time while the Bellas were trying to divide them.
It is a little conflicting whether I like that they’re singing together and using instruments or whether I dislike it. It doesn’t seem like a real competition because it’s supposed to be a cappella and they’re supposed to be on teams. But it’s way more exciting with what the other teams were doing
i really didn't understand the point of putting an Acapella group with actual bands in the same event. the musical technical gap is too wide. for the actual bands, someone being able to sing is not that big of a deal even if you put like twelve of them together. since the Bellas are unable to play any actual musical instrument it puts them in a completely different category and it's not really fair comparing them to bands. ALSO, it seems the concept of "competing" almost seems hilarious to the bands. they don't really see the point of "proving who is better" (because of the different experiences of being a college Acapella group and an actual band, and the fact they already think they're better than them) so they don't take it seriously and start having fun all together

As much as I love Evermoist, I do think this is the first time that The Bellas won a riff off, considering the fact that they used musical instruments where infact they were supposed to sing Acapella
I think that in this case they "lose" because they were the least having fun with music while everyone else was vibing, they were too focus on "keeping the rules" when it wasn't a formal competition with others professional Acapella singers.
Except that the rule "only vocals" was only mentioned after they had already started using instruments. At that point you can't claim it is against the rules anymore, you should have just said it earlier. Before Evermoist started singing they never made a mention of this.

Guys, you're misunderstanding the whole point of the scene. The Bellas, although the other groups may have "cheated", didn't win, because the others never saw it as a competition. They enjoyed the music, let it lead them wherever it wanted, and performed for the sake of art. That's the reason the Bellas came out inferior: they don't care about their art, they care about being better than their peers. This scene demonstrates that, not just to us as an audience, but to the characters in their world, too.

@gcbryan89 Gonna be honest, this movie is my least favorite of the 3. Would have gave it more points if the other bands joined in the end.
