- Highlights of the second half and extra time periods of the second leg of the 1982/83 UEFA Super Cup between European Champions Aston Villa and Cup Winners' Cup winners Barcelona played at Villa Park, Birmingham on 26th January 1983.
Barcelona had won the first leg 1-0 a week before. - Спорт
I remember this game. We had won the Recopa to Standard Lieja and Aston Villa, won Champions League to Bayer Munic (Rummenige). This game is Super Cup.
The most obscene team performance I have ever been present at in football. Barcelona that night were disgusting. Cynical and clinical fouls, atrocious behaviour shoving the referee and the like. Punches thrown, kicks and appalling tackles. They should have had more than two players sent off. Thank goodness Villa won. To have been there on the Holte End that night was to endure the horror and enjoy the ecstasy of beating them eventually.
I'll get accused of xenophobia of course...try Celtic v atletico at Parkhead in 74. unreal. That handball was pretty hilarious though!
@@hankmorgan3501 Yeah, I mean he already had a yellow! Did he really think he would get away with it??? haha
@Dust Connoisseur Try to watch what happened to Gordon Cowans after he had scored a penalty. You're telling us that an elbow, which I must be honest pales into igsignificance when compared to the vile actions of the kicking Barcelona players, if it happened at all that is, is worse than what the goalkeeper did! Have you ever played football or do you just wear eye patches when it comes to how Barcelona played so many decades ago. Go on, take a look. . . it occurs after 'Sid' has scored from the rebound and the goalkeeper scithed him down into goal. When was the 'elbow' Dust? Great name by the way. Suits you. LOL.
Did any Barcelona player break a Villa players nose, like Withe did to Migueli at Villa's first goal?
Having said that, how did the Barca keeper stay on the field after kicking Cowans?
@@TheCosmicFunker Interesting. Wonder how that happened? Can't find any details of it via Google so if you have a link I'd be interested in seeing it. Sid kicked into the net by the goalie, well, there were so many obscene moments like that by Barcelona, like the 'tackle' on Gary Williams that led to that first goal you mention. Hacked down, Gary got the free kick that got the Villa what they deserved. I still maintain that Barcelona were pure SCUM that evening. .
rest in peace johan.
Best handball ever.
Most blatant handball ever
That would be Maradona vs England
I was there and on night shift. I was late for work. Happy day's.
Just agreeing with bikingbirder2010
I was on the Holte that night
Barcelona were incredibly disgusting that night. They kicked and punched us off the ball all game. You had to be there to understand. Their keeper kicked Cowans up into the net after the pen. If it was televised today you could write a book about it.
Great football
One of the BEST games i ever been to, Barcelona was such a dirty team on the night, Villa deserved the victory.
Cruyff had nothing on Gary shaw
Have u got the game in full
No that was all that was broadcasted that night by the BBC Sportsnight programme.
@@VillanPaul1967 Do you know why one end of the ground had no fans in it?
@@dannyf8198 The North Stand Lower was for the Barcelona Away Fans. The North Stand Upper was for the Villa Fans. Why no Away fans? It was a completely different world back then. Money (or lack of) was probably the main factor. Work commitments as well. Most people in Europe didn't speak English back then. There was no internet to book flights and accommodation. You had to ring up the hotel in Birmingham to make a reservation. How can you do that if you don't speak English? You also had the English Football Hooligans... After that game, Barcelona Fans would've got the shit beaten out of them.
I have the full match but very low quality
I don't mind quality
Well done with dinner Aston Villa
