  • Introducing Holtball Herd 11's Exmoor Stallion, Farleywater Yogi Bear H67/192. Yogi Bear is sired by supreme breed champion and twice agility world champion, moorbred Hawkwell Versuvius 'Bear' * and he is Bear’s only entire son.
Yogi Bear was moorbred (2016) on Buscombe, adjacent to Brendon Common (Exmoor National Park), into the Farleywater Herd. His mother, Foxglove, is a granddaughter of Tawbitts Young Mickey. At the time the South family selected the mares to run with Bear, we were very much hoping that Foxglove would produce a stallion quality colt foal, and we weren’t disappointed.
Yogi Bear enjoyed a few more months out on the moor than usual, when he was gathered in from Brendon Common with the Tippbarlake herd in December 2016. He was accompanied by his mother Foxglove to Nick and Dawn Westcott’s farm, until she returned to the moor in the spring. His story is told in Dawn's book, Wild Herd Whispering (2017).
Now 5 years old, Yogi Bear is a well-conformed, athletic, well-moving stallion with bright, golden brown colouring, distinct mealy markings, a good amount of mane - and a kind eye. He is alert, intelligent and spirited.
Yogi Bear is a worthy son of Bear and we look forward to seeing the stamp he puts on his progeny.
Exmoor ponies are one of the UK's most ancient native pony breeds and they are endangered.
