Hey Blackie, Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! I was thinking when you mentioned of shortening the toggle, would it maybe be better to leave it the length you originally have it 2"-3" so maybe it wouldn't undo as easily while walking through thicker brush from hitting on a limb/snag. Yes it might still twist from being longer but it will be less likely "longer length" of popping under the synch down line? Just a thought ;) Keep bringing the great video's 👍
Get that vid out there. Ive been using this method for my ridgeline. Essentially a truckers hitch with the toggle placed through the loop you make, then wrap around the toggle figure of eight or tie off. Got a permanently attached toggle at the other end for securing the loop around the other tree 👍 i hang things off my ridgeline so i like a lot of tension. Just checked the date on the vid above. Also checked out the ridgeline vid. We came to exactly the same solution independently 👍

Blackie, I really enjoy your down home style of presentation. Also, your teaching is effect for learning the point of your talks. Thanks for what you do!
Thanks for the video. As I told Felix on his link when you cinch down your pack it is very tight. but all you have to do is pull on the toggle and it comes loose. You people that say that you’ve successfully done this can I have you do it again. And then pull on the toggle (simulates hitting/bumping the toggle on rocks while hiking and climbing). it comes loose. At least it does for me with military-grade 550 and 275 paracords.
What a lovely philosophy of sharing knowledge. Very enjoyable to watch: calm relaxed expert presentation of interesting content. Saw Felix's take on it a few months ago and this has reignited my desire to make and play with toggles. Just when my family thought I'd gone off the boil on toggles...
Nice, I watched the video from Felix & wanted to give it a try, this Toggle thing just keeps getting better. So now with your cord setup you have the option to tie or toggle a tarp loop & tie everything up when carrying it. 👍👍👍
Sweet addition to your Built in Prussic Hank, and I will not have to look for a stick to connect it to a tarp also. Or even try a larks head to the tarp. Toggle Built in for tarps and Synching down things on my cycle. LOVE IT. A lot less work than the vid Felix posted today on a bushcraft forge. It was a Shawn Kelly type of work project. Your "Bowline/Pruski" combo... I have been using something very similar for years, instead of the Prusik, I use a Tautline Hitch.... It's my go-to for tarps and tent lines! Excellent variation.
My best strategy for pouring coffee out of a coffee cup is directly into my mouf with one hand, freeing my other hands up to skin an groundhog and tie a prussik knot.

Hey from Canada, love your stuff and devious mind, what about a heavy rubber hose in the bowline so you can pull using the hose as a handle, even better leave a slot in the hose so the cordage can create a loop coming out of the slot to attach to the toggle to create a carry handle like you showed...

That's a nice addition to the ole tool box! I imagine it would be easy to throw a half hitch or two to lock it in. (Still wouldn't interfere with the quick release)
My grandpa showed me this technique years and years ago. You dont even need to drill a hole. Just cut or break a bit of stick, leave the bark on, and pop it in and cinch it down. Throw a half hitch if youre worried about it coming undone but the friction should hold it lol. I wanted to tell the original german guy who put up the video you dont have to make it all pretty for it to work, and even HE didnt drill holes. Felix started the hole drilling holes bit. Both work. Hell all versions work. ^_^
Saw Felix Immler do this about a year ago. Works great. I recommend replacing the bowline with a zeppelin loop always as there are situations where a bowline has failed and the zeppelin is one of the strongest knots you can use. Then use that for the toggle loop. Then for looks use a monkey fist on the other end.
The problem here is the cordage is so small it will crash tissue creating horrible damage beyond that needed for the tourniquet. Use a webbing unless life depends on speed and you give up on the limb.
Took a few extra steps to get there but you got there, kind of. Try a stop knot on one end after adding the toggle, bowline knot in the other end. Wrap around whatever you want to cinch up. hold bowline and pass just the toggle through the bowline loop. There should now be standing and working end coming out of the bowline loop with the toggle holding it in place. Pull on working end only to cinch down....no need for fancy single strand prussiks, handle loops (as this can easily be cinched to a pack to begin with before joining loop and toggle) and no hard failures so long as working end is on top of toggle and jammed (by toggle) against the bowline loop.
I use it all the time hanging my work bag in my truck in the fashion of a truckers hitch. It also means I can hang my 12 litre water filter system at the exact height for the outlet pipe to sit at the top of my bottle.
nice! another way to do it without the stick is to make a loop on one end of the cordage, wrap it around whatever you want and then just put the other end of the line throught the loop TWO TIMES and then pull and sinch it, it will have enough friction to hold. you can tie the rest of the line just above it make sure it doesn't slip but it won't. to undo it you pull the line in the opposite direction and it will undo itself easily. very good for tree to tree lines for tarps as well: tie one end to a tree then go around the other tree, make a loop somewhere on the rope, free end goes two times throught just like before and pull towards the second tree. try it out it's worth it :) have a good day!
Just discovered you !:) Felix is the man!! I guess that's why the algorithm suggested you. That adjustable guy line prusic is awsome gonna try that now thanks:)

You mentioned you adapted this from another utuber. Back in the '50s my Grandfather always had a 2-3 ft piece of cotton rope loop on 1 end, stop knot on other, and a toggle sliding between. Used it to hold all kinds of things until could get twine or wire. Watched your quick ridgeline, using toggle in place of truckers hitch. Have you added a 2nd toggle next to bowline? Instead of passing whole line thru loop, just toggle. Then you could choke tight on tree, would not slide down before you get other end tight.
I looked on the Bushcraft & Nature youtube site Felix Immler's youtube site references and I couldn't find the original instruction however he references using it in a few of his videos... so thanx to all for sharing the innovation with something so easy to make and use
Hello Blackie, very good trick, I have a problem with it, when I pull hard on the rope to tighten, and I already have everything really tight, when I release it, the toggle returns 45 degrees and loosens slightly. I am using 550 paracord and a toggle identical to the one in your video
hey guys i plan on adapting this idea to my quick deploy ridgeline i will post that soon thanks for watching !! safe journeys

Watched your quick ridgeline, using toggle in place of truckers hitch. Have you added a 2nd toggle next to bowline? Instead of passing whole line thru loop, just toggle. Then you could choke tight on tree, would not slide down before you get other end tight.
awesome it all go to prove there is nothing new just stuff we forget and then someone finds it again
Great idea and video. Thank you!
That's great Blackie, thanks for the tip!👍
Any time!
Learned from same source you did, but made mine from fatwood slabs (felix is awesome👍) can never have too much fatwood 😎❤️🙏
If you had paid attention, Felix credited the source of where he saw it. Glad you did the same.
yep fleix follows me now he has comments on my videos he is a nice guy
I looked on the Bushcraft & Nature youtube site Felix Immler's youtube site references and I couldn't find the original instruction however he references using it in a few of his videos... so thanx to all for sharing the innovation with something so easy to make and use
my pleasure
ua-cam.com/video/UZY0ps8Stz0/v-deo.html is Felix’s video Blackie is referencing.
Hey Blackie what about a short removal toggle in the pull end to make it easier for you to tighten then remove after tight
might be a idea thanks
Hahaha, first thought you had some surplus gaiters then realized they were your legs. 😳🤣🤣🤣
hey they double as a signal device lol
Hello Blackie, very good trick, I have a problem with it, when I pull hard on the rope to tighten, and I already have everything really tight, when I release it, the toggle returns 45 degrees and loosens slightly. I am using 550 paracord and a toggle identical to the one in your video
the 550 cord may be too slick some are more "toothy" than others that or your loop the toggle is in is too big
