@@rkind5192 bro all the people are brave but they were not living in jungles and always on survival mode all those people were sort of civilised and away from conflicts most of the time .. whereas nagas , kukis , boros etc were even living in jungles till 60's and 70's

In precise, lets say nagas signed memorandum with simon commision to be left to determine their own course, nehru was opposed to it and hence fighting continues. Ofcourse,today there is factionalism within the armed insurgents and infighting among themselves and the indian armed forces. In the 1950's till 1964(ceasefire), innocent nagas were subjected to unspeakable atrocities by the indian army. Rapes, buried alive, graneries burned, forced to take refuge in jungles etc. That is why no matter what, i dont really buy this romanticism of armed forces. Their bravery and patroitism is commendable though. This is also one reason why the insurgency continues today cause those memories still remain.
I am proud of the two great asset which Asam' gave to lndia . One the Asam rifle and the second ......our great favorite news anchor.............Aaaaaarrrrrrnnnnaaaabbb sir.

very old paramilitary force in the Subcontinent is BGB which is established before Assam rifles in 1795 as Ramgarh local Battalion, They participate in world war 1 & 2.
Thank you Major Gaurav for the presentation, sadly one thing was missing, the name gorkhas never came up even once !!! till the late 80s, the major constituent of the Assam Rifles soldiers were the gorkhas( which is why they were attached with the gorkha rifles during WW II in Burma) . Out of 21 battalions during the 1980s , the SMs (Subedhar Majors) of around 15 to 16 battalions were gorkhas. Till the 90s the AR battalions would stay in the same location were they were raised , some even for long decades,thats how they became familiar with the local people ( there were also inter-marriages between the local women and AR personals).The battalions were deployed in hill tops surrounded by dense jungles, the olden times gorkha soldiers after retirement , settled nearby around their home battalion and in due time local tribals too started arriving ,this is how some small settlement developed around the battalion headquaters ! there are more to say ....!

My cousin patrick j Carnegie .was a captain in the 11th division Assam rifles in Burma ww2 .born in India 1913 ,started fighting in 1935 commissioned into the Indian army. if any one here knows more of the 11th division Assam rifles in Burma in ww2 that would be much appreciated,god bless the sentinel s of the north east .
