  • Quick and relatively easy: A small floral carving and tooling project from start to finish. I tried to note the name and number of each stamp I use. Any questions just throw them in the comments below and I'll try to answer.
    btw: I had to put a soundtrack in because I was streaming shows most of the time I was doing this and didn't realize how loud it would be on camera

    Holy chit your talents are awesome!....you are so skilled , you could have done that without the high end Barry King stamps and with a 36 dollar Amazon starter leather working kit :-)

      True, but there IS a big difference in the entry-level tools compared to the expensive stuff. The stamp impressions are much cleaner and they should last a lifetime. I have some cheap Craftool stamps that lasted maybe a year before they started bending (I have to straighten them in my arbor press to keep them going).

    Don't know squat about tooling but I never use black dye. It hides all the details that make it unique.

    incredibly nice holster!! What did you use to get the overspray glue off the face and edge of the leather?

    • @RoadAgentLeather
      @RoadAgentLeather  3 роки тому +1

      It was a felt lining. I use a rubber cement eraser...does great removing glue from leather.

    Nice. Was that full strength black dye or was it thinned out? I like the looks of that technique. What were you rubbing over the tooled section at the end?

      I cut my dyes with alcohol. Gives me more control building up color. It's a small emory board (sandpaper).

    Hello Road Agent,
    what is the white foam you've brushed into the leather at 2:20? Is it saddle soap? Why did you do this?
    Best regards from Germany.

      @RoadAgentLeather  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, it's saddle soap. It's somewhat anecdotal, but it helps the swivel knife cut through the leather and the stamps to make better impressions. It also helps the leather retain moisture while tooling. I don't bother with it if I'm doing something simple like stamping a border, but I always do it before heavily tooling an area like this.

    What is the soap used to moisten the leather before carving and stamping?

    • @RoadAgentLeather
      @RoadAgentLeather  10 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching. It's glycerin saddle soap.

    what grooving tool is that. I Googled it and I found stitching groovers/bevelers but saw bad reviews. What do you recommend?

    What was the white soapy and foaming substance that you used on your leather at the beginning?

    • @RoadAgentLeather
      @RoadAgentLeather  3 роки тому +4

      Saddle soap. I explain its' use in my "Hand of God" video. It helps the leather carve and tool easier.
