In this video we get another carb rebuild done, this time for my current restoration project bike, a 1981 Honda Passport C70 (Super Cub).
I finally picked up the paint for this bike as well, so part five of the restoration should be coming up in the next week!

Can somebody please help me. I didn’t take pictures of the two hoses that came off the carb. One is bottom near the bowl and one is one the top right of the carb. They’re just leaking fuel now that I’ve tried to put things back together
Blastworks,
Do you know if the carburetor on the 19883 and the 82, 81 are the same?
It looks like they are!

Hey man great videos, awesome job! Where did you purchase your carburetor rebuild kit? I’m in the US and am having troubles finding a supplier. Thanks!
Thanks for the encouragement RPG! I bought my kit on Amazon, here's the exact one I bought. Make sure the year matches the one you need!

I am too having trouble getting a piece of wire through the idle jet. Is the wire supposed to pass all the way through?
It should go through, but then what happens after it goes through could be different depending on how the passages in the carburetor make their way up into the venturi.
@@blastworks that’s what I thought, but I can’t get a wire through it. The jet that I have is not the style that threads in but instead it is press fitted. And I can’t find a replacement. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
@@ksut5721 you can try heating the carb body up with a blow torch and working the idle jet out. Just make sure there are no o rings or gaskets left in the carb. You could also soak it in some high strength carb cleaner to see if things dissolve. Ultimately, getting it into an ultrasonic cleaner would probably work best.
what size is your ultrasonic cleaner? Does it work for most small motorcycle/scooter carbs?
Mine is 3L. I find it fantastic!

I was wondering if you remember where that tiny silver washer goes on the carb? I got the same kit for my 81 c70, and I have taken the carb apart several times but I can't tell where that little washer goes.
Hey Scout! If it's the one I think you are talking about, it goes between the spring and the rubber o-ring on the air/fuel mix screw; it protects the o-ring from the spring!
@@blastworks I'll have to take a look at that tomorrow. I got my C70 not too long ago. It was running but I noticed it was leaking gas around the carburetor. So I got the rebuild kit, took it apart and cleaned it up. But now it wont idle! It will sometimes idle a little with the choke on, but it doesn't last long. Have any ideas as to what I can try next?
@@scoutjarman9000 If the small o-ring is not being held into the air/fuel mix passage firmly with the small washer, it's likely that the carb is bringing too much air to the engine, so putting the choke on would remedy that and help it idle. Check on that air/fuel mix screw and ensure you have things in the right order, from the screw head in should be spring, metal washer, then rubber o-ring.
@@blastworks I have put things back together, and now I can get it to idle a little without the choke on, so that's an improvement! But now if I give it the slightest amount of throttle the bike dies... I think I'll just have a mechanic friend look at it and see if they can fix it.
@@scoutjarman9000 Sounds like enough fuel isn't getting to the engine! Let me know how it goes with your buddy!
