10:14 It's called Nafaqo. Its a cheap street food in Somalia. Best eaten with spicy dips. Can be eaten anytime from Lunch onwards.
10:46 Its called Khameer(Northern) or Quraa(Southern). Its like a doughnut that is eaten with tea.
10:57 The pancake is called Malawah and is eaten typically for breakfast or as a snack throughout the day.
11:47 Its called Mash-Mash. Can be eaten on its own when sweetened. WHen not sweetened, Somalis like to wrap it around food like Samosas, Kebabs, etc.
Thank you 😇
Great to see you trying and enjoying food from a different cuisine and culture 👍🏾

8:17 Southern Somalia was an Italian colony which is why pasta dishes are part of the cuisine. Northern Somalia was a British Protectorate which is why there is a settled population of Somalis in the UK some who came over as far back as the 1930s.
Eat with your right hand only
I was eating with my right hand. It's inverted

Good review but I hope your other reviews aren’t just comparing the food to Asian food 😐😐
I'm not sure what you mean. Somali food is heavily influenced by different cuisines, especially Indian food. Hence the comparisons. They are heavy on flavour too like Asian food
@@Foodieninja I understand and I think the viewers understood too but you didn’t need to mention it every minute brother. I’m sure you could have thought about other things to say about the food
@@ltrick3096 I mean I'm Asian, so naturally that's what I would do as it's a cuisine I know very well. So this is what I chose to review it against, especially as I felt it was very similar (which it is) What examples I use will be relevant to what I'm reviewing. For example burgers etc I obviously wouldn't. I talk as I think on the spot. If you want to see me not compare to Asian cuisine then just watch my other videos
You are totally wrong in saying Somali food is made of influences mostly at the start of the video. Just correcting you . Somalia is a 10k years old civilization seafaring which exported things for thousands of years connecting east west south due to its strategic location.
Ethiopian injeero, Indian basmati and 'roti' , and samosas. Italian pastas, Arab halwaa. So yes it is heavily influenced by other cultures' cuisines regardless. Facts is facts
Nice to see you at Demo. Free Free Palestine
