Rather than letting the initial cooler water from your hot water heater go down into your tanks cant you use it for something. Its strange to see some one in the US using a washing up (dish washing) bowl; there are some many videos of US visitors to the UK saying what is this strange thing. They do help to cut down on water usage. Loved the bison taking dust baths to help get rid of the insects. You captured so many magnificent views.
That's funny about the washing bowls. I didn't realize that was a thing in the UK. As far as catching the water while it runs while it heats up, it could work. However, each time you turn the water off, like to wash a dish, then turn the water back on, it has to heat up again. Not the most efficient thing when you have a small gray tank.
